Now that the card has been 100% confirmed and complete, and we're almost a week out, let's start the thread now. UFC 118 ''EDGAR VS. PENN 2'', 8/28/2010 (PPV/Spike TV/ESPN-UK) TD Garden, Boston MA1. Welterweight bout: Mike Pierce vs. Amilcar Alves 2. Welterweight bout: Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto3. Middleweight bout: Dan Miller vs. John Salter 4. Lightweight bout: Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz 5. Lightweight bout: Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger6. Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis 7. Lightweight bout: Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard 8. Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda 9. Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. James Toney 10. Lightweight Championship: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. B.J. Penn *Fights 4 & 5 will be broadcasted LIVE on Spike TV at 9pm ET.
Great night of fights here. I am very, very excited for the Edgar vs. Penn matchup. Edgar has been training very hard and I hope he'll look better than ever. I expect BJ to be a bit more aggressive and attack. It's very tough rooting against one of the guys who I have trained with, but it's clear that BJ is very motivated and will probably show more aggressiveness and win the fight. I hope Frankie can prove me wrong though. I have already said my peace about Couture/Toney. Toney obviously has the advantage in the boxing realm, but I don't think he'll do very good when it comes to kicks, knees and elbows. I sure as hell don't think he has trained long enough to stop Couture's olympic-level wrestling. This will probably turn out to be an easier fight for Couture than people think. Thanks to the man who will be fighting in the main event, I have been given tickets to attend this show, so I won't be able to give replies to this thread. Thanks, Frankie.

A great looking card and no mistake...I don't want to go against Marcus Davis, as I'm a fan of his, but the reach on Diaz and focused striking from him made me choose him in the end...looking forward to Miller, Maia and especially KenFlo picking up the wins... 1. Welterweight bout: Mike Pierce vs. Amilcar Alves 2. Welterweight bout: Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto 3. Middleweight bout: Dan Miller vs. John Salter 4. Lightweight bout: Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz5. Lightweight bout: Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger6. Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis 7. Lightweight bout: Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard 8. Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda 9. Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. James Toney 10. Lightweight Championship: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. B.J. Penn Awesome that you got tickets there Jim, have a great time mate!

I'll give my predictions for the main card.
Lightweight Championship: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. B.J. Penn Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. James Toney Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda Lightweight bout: Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis
TONEY VIA TRIANGLE. Haha, no, not really. I know I'm probably going to be dead wrong about the Couture/Toney fight. I mean, the likely scenario has Couture taking him down, roughing him up a bit, and then sinking in a choke. However, I just have this strange feeling Couture is going to get caught early on. I dunno, we'll see.

Anybody who is seriously picking James Toney has a screw loose 'cause he doesn't have a prayer, in my opinion. Picking Toney in this fight is as bad as when I said Forrest would KO Anderson Silva. It's THAT bad.
Toney is making his MMA debut against one of the best ever and I think that will prove to be a major mistake in the end. Couture will choke him out in the 1st round. I have no doubts in my mind about that.

If not, IDK what would be a bigger upset, Fedor loss or one of the best boxers beating one of the best MMA fighters, DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!! Like I said, I'd rather have an MMA fighter win but i'm not a big Randy fan, I love the dirty boxing and Randy is a very nice guy but I love Toney, so yea.

I was going to the Fan Expo and didn't have the money to attend the Live Card Saturday night and was pretty disappointed. Then I came home last night to find out from my girlfriend that she got us 2 tickets!!!! I am marking out. I have never been to a live UFC event ever. This card looks awesome. Hope BJ takes back the title and Couture destroys Toney.

It's THAT bad. Right, because Forrest Griffin has knocked out who exactly? Not to mention, you thought he'd knock out Anderson Silva of all people. Like I said, I'm probably going to be dead wrong, and I posted the likely scenario. I certainly wouldn't put money on Toney winning. But to think Toney doesn't at the very least has a puncher's chance, perhaps you should look into that loose screw.

While I'm personally picking Couture, I don't think it'd be impossible for Toney to win. I also wouldn't be surprised if Couture has trouble bringing him to the ground, simply because that is what everyone assumes he will do, so what better thing to train for?

the picture of BJ without the TITLE JUST LOOKS VERY ODD. i think BJ will come out more determined than ever. He will get the win.
I also think Marcus davis, kenny florian, maia, and james toney will win

Here's my question. After the first fight, most were saying that if BJ comes back in full form to face Edgar, that he'd take him out in devestating fashion. Does anyone still believe that? It seems that over time, people have had time to go over the fight and have changed their opinions and given Edgar more of a chance to win this one.

One of Toney's trainers even said that he doesnt have a good chance on the ground and the clinch.

Of course they'll say that. They aren't going to talk him down.

I have a weird feeling that Toney vs. Couture is going to end via DQ because of Toney doing something illegal out of ignorance of MMA rules.
I just sense that Toney is approaching this fight without the greatest understanding of the sport and probably hasn't bothered to study up on what's legal or illegal. Watch him soccer kick Couture on the ground or punch him in the balls or something.
