I've been inside a slaughter house and gone home and eaten meat.
The way I see it, if there was a more dominant race than ours, we'd be the ones getting slaughtered. I respect the vegetarian view, but seeing an animal get slaughtered isn't going to change my mind.

I honestly see why people become vegetarians, I honestly do. But I don't need to see animals getting brutally slaughtered to sway my decision. I really believe that there are ways to kill animals for food without mauling and tourturing them.
But the reason that I'm not on board with it is because I don't believe that animals are equal to humans. Do I believe that some animals are more valuable to the world than others? Yes I do.

The only thing that made me cringe was when they slammed the piglets on the floor.

You're one of my favorite members here but I'm sorry, I think we are all equal, they serve just as much need as us, they feel pain, they have a heart and have emotions just like us. If you would torture an animal than you may as well as torture a human.

Anyway Lewscher, I've been a vegetarian my whole life, and this crapjust puts so much anger in me than imaginable. Animal cruelty is my number One pet peeve, it just ing sickens me to see someone do that. I got expelled from school because during a presentation some dumb just like TNBT decided to say pretty much the same thing and I know I always say be the bigger man but that pissed me off and I layed him out. IMO you have to have no ing heart to do something like that. I think we are all equal, they serve just as much need as us, they feel pain, they have a heart and have emotions just like us. If you would torture an animal than you may as well as torture a human. I just feel disgusted now.

I hate animal cruelty, and cant even imagine what sick minds a person must have to beat a piglet off a floor, or strangle a turkey like that. It is terrible what employees get away with. I watched the video, and strongly agree with the animal cruelty part, however i will not become a vegetarian.

I'm a vegetarian, mainly because they put so much garbage like steroids and antibiotics into these animals and it makes them unnaturally larger than normal, and I only eat organic food, so I don't like eating that sort of thing. I've been much healthier since making the switch.

If you guys are gonna come in here, don't say you meat and poop, just give your opinions. Here's my opinion and I'll admit from the start that I didn't go to the site and see the video because I've seen all of that stuff before. First of all, props to you for having something you believe in and feeling passionately about it to try to convince others without beating them over the head with it. I wish everyone was more like that. Second of all, if you want to be more convincing you need to write a little better. People tend to dismiss poorly written arguments with poor grammar and spelling. I'd also avoid making pathos appeals and focus more on empirical evidence. Is eating vegetarian healthier? Do vegetarians live longer? Focus on the evidence. You'll make a much stronger argument that way.

You know if you watch a pack of lions eating a deer it's pretty graphic and inhumane too. So are you saying we should regulate lions due to their feeding practices?
Look, all life on this earth that exists today exists because of conflict. Survival of the fittest is the law and at the end of the day, the dominant species will and should display it's dominance over others. Cows are stupid and can't move fast. If they were smart and could, they wouldn't have this problem. So by saying that human beings should go easy on the cows is only hindering any potential future evolution for cows. So in reality, you're really more against the prosperity of these creatures than the people in these slaughterhouses.
So for those who watched this video and were disgusted, I just want you to think about one thing before you decide we need to put a stop to all of this; Think of the future cows.

only factory farming has this kind of animal brutality on such a regular basis. i come from a rural area where all my uncles are beef/dairy farmers, and there is a bond between master and animal there, a respect...they wouldn't want to see harm done on their animals.
so stop pointing your finger at people eating meat as the problem. it's CORPORATE MONOPOLIZATION on an industry that leads to animals being mistreated.

I was actually eating a supreme pizza as I watched that video. I've seen it before, actually. I eat meat, and I honestly couldn't care less about animals that I have indifference to. You want to live your life in a certain way that doesn't involve eating meat? Fantastic. But don't judge me in a negative way for enjoying the meat of animals that serve little purpose.

I have only heard one reasonable reason to be a vegetarian in my life. It was from my Ethics teacher, and it boiled down to how he knows that him no longer eating meat will not stop factory farming, but he did not want to contribute to it. It was a personal guilt/respect thing for him, and I respect that decision. I also respect that decision since he also didn't try and guilt the class into being vegetarian.
Like others in this thread, I do not see animals and humans as equals, so I feel little sympathy, and, unfortunately, there is little (if anything) that someone else can do to change that feeling. However, I'm also rational enough to know that, even as a cat person, it is "ok" for others to eat cats and dogs. I would never do that personally, but I consider the belief that the rights of animals being lesser than humans to be a universal truth. Hell, that's why it's ok for us to OWN animals. I would argue that someone who believes that humans and animals are equal should never own pets.
