Where I live, you are in Middle School until 9th grade. So this coming school year, I'll be moving from middle school into high school (I'm turning 15 on September 26th) and today I visited the high school and walked around, and I'm pretty nervous, my high school is about 2.5 times bigger then the middle school in my district.
I'm not to sure what the point of this post is really...
Was your high school huge? And anything I should know about going into High School?
Thanks.

I attended an all boys Catholic school. I know that sounds like hell, however, I had an absolute blast in High School. The days were pretty short (we started at 8 and left at 2) and my class was really united. My High School is big on technology so we were required to purchase lap tops and used them during classes (surfing the web all day long). I enjoyed all four years, however, college is blowing High School out of the water.

My high school was only a bit bigger than my middle school, and that's only because there were four grades in high school and three in middle school. We had about 600 kids.
I know what you're going through, heading into high school can be quite nerve-wracking. It's best to remember that you're just moving onto the next logical step and doing so with all of your friends. They'll all be going through the same thing.
Just try to keep in mind that the upper-classmen aren't as scary as they seem (I remember as a freshman, the seniors felt huge to me, now looking back my class didn't seem like that at all). High school is a ton of fun if you get involved and stay active. Try to get yourself into something that involves upper-classmen, that will quickly take the fear away. I joined drama my freshman year and worked with a lot of upperclassmen and it was great for my self-confidence. I ended up sticking with it my entire high school career.

Basically, Middle School is the worst time in most kids' lives (at least as far as people I've talked to over the years) for various reasons. High School is a much better experience and college is even better than that. So you've got nothing to worry about. You've passed the rough stuff and it's just going to keep getting better at this point.

My high school was huge. Total number of students was around 4,000, so there were about 1,000 students in each grade. There are two separate campuses, about a mile away from each other. One campus has freshmen and sophomores, while the other has juniors and seniors.
I had a lot of fun in high school. Get involved in sports or clubs and try to meet as many people as you can. I wasn't friends with everyone (I didn't even know everyone in my graduating class), but I tried to at least talk to people to network.

I enjoyed High School, sometimes it was really fun and sometimes it was blah.. My school was a sports school so all my friends were usually away at games and shiiiieet. It's not as bad as people say it is, Unless I got lucky because there was no bullies or any of that sorta stuff.

Today when I went, as I was walking to the entrance, even though I KNEW that there would be like 10 kids there at most, and they would all be people I know, I was still pretty scared. And I guess I'm lucky, my neighbor is going to be a senior this year, and I know about 10 of his friends and they all like me, so I'm not as worried about older kids.

My middle school graduating class consisted of about 15 people.
My high school graduating class consisted of about 850-900 people.
Adjusting from middle school to high school certainly was something else.

Hated my middle school, place was a dungeon. No joke, it was small, you were constantly watched over. It sucked. Dont worry about the high school. If I were you, id go one more day before the year starts and map out a few ways from class to class, even if you are there for 30 minutes, its still smart. Thats what I did.

My middle school was actually a larger building than the high school.
High School is great. Just get involved in activities and you'll have a blast.

In the UK we have primary school up until the age of 11. Then we move on to High School or Comprehensive. There we have Year 7,8,9,10,11 and then we have a choice to move onto college, get a job or stay on in school for 2 more years "Sixth Form". Thats what the format is here anyway

High school is 1000 times better than middle school. Once you get to sophomore year, everyone seems to be semi-mature and quite a bit easier to get along with. There are a few exceptions of course, but that's how everything works. Good luck.
