Reading powerslam magazine and someone asked when they thought WWE would end pg
here's the answer
WWE is just 8 months into what is reportedly a five-year deal with Mattel. As we understand it, WWE, in order to secure this contract and other sponsorship deals, had to agree to eliminate from its television programming and ppvs self inflicted blood loss (blading), swearing (even the word "ass" has vanished) and other content liable to cause offence or embarrassment (such as choking a ring announcer with his own tie). Unless WWE wishes to break its deal with Mattel (and we can't imagine why it would) the ban will remain in force on blood and swearing until 2015, at least. In other words. the PG version of WWE is here to stay.

I dont see why, I understand that Mattel dont want to picture themself with Blood and Swearing, but they knew what WWE was like and how it could change back. I love the Mattel Figures, but I think its kinda silly that they kinda control the WWE Ratings.
Also they said ass a few times ive noticed not so long ago... even Cena, Im sure he said it.
Anyway, im not bothered too much cause I like the PG era, its just the lack of blood now and then and what they can no longer do now becuase of it. It weakens the Hiac matchs also imo.

i actually dont mind PG all that much. the only thing i really have a problem with is stopping matches to clean guys up when they start bleeding. guys dont have to blade but if they happen to get busted open just let the match continue. other than that i think the product is still good.

I call bs on WWE staying PG because of Mattel. The want to bring in more younger fans what better way for them to do that then be PG and kid friendly for a while.

Wait, so Mattel can carry a licence like DC (who's superheroes punch each other through walls and beat up supervillains (who kill, mind you), Bleed and have mature storylines) but WWE performers aren't allowed to say ass or blade?

Your mad to believe anything in powerslam, most of the magazine is opinion masquerading as fact. Even if it was true, its a good thing IMO.

Well it makes sense to keep WWE PG since the majority of their audience now is kids and kids will buy all the merchandise such as shirts, figures and other stuff and since Mattel makes figures and kids are buying them, then there is no reason to change it back.

That sounds like a gigantic load of crapto be honest. Wasn't the WWE/Mattel contract for 10 years?
Not to mention...why would a TOY company control the WWE programming. There have been about 20 different reported reasons as to why the WWE went PG. Why does EVERYONE ignore the obvious?
It was time for a change. Vince pays plenty of executives great salaries to research and figure out what's best for the company. He saw it fit to change the dynamic of the WWE to reach out to a larger audience, thus bringing in more money and making the company MORE powerful than EVER before.
Linda's Campaign, Mattel, John Cena...are all just byproducts of the PG change...ones who ended up benefitting from it. The only people pissed off about the PG change are the ones who are stuck in the past thinking the Attitude Era was the greatest wrestling ever.
I LOVED the Attitude era...some of the best times I've had being a fan. But instead of looking back on it and trying to find ridiculous ways to compare how different today's WWE is from it, I've moved on to enjoy a different type of WWE.
The ONLY thing that really does get under my skin in this time is the lack of a blade job every now and then, and not in the main event of RAW...but in what is supposed to be a serious & dangerous match like Hell in the Cell.

This is exactly what I was thinking. This sounds a little farfetched to me. I mean, when Mattel got the DC Comics license, they didn't demand that DC stop having blood / murder / swearing / sexual content in their comics. Why would they demand this of WWE?

It will stay PG for a while, but I think things will change in a few years once ratings go down.
