Just a few days away from a card that I am VERY excited for. Not sure why most people are just passing this card off as "filler" for next month's cards.

8. Lightweight bout: Sean Sherk vs. Evan Dunham
9. Welterweight bout: Matt Serra vs. Chris Lytle
10. Light Heavyweight bout: Antônio Rogério Nogueira vs. Ryan Bader
11. Heavyweight bout: Frank Mir vs. Mirko Filipović
*Fights 5 & 6 will be broadcasted LIVE on Spike TV and 9pm ET.
I am EXCITED in so many ways for this card. Guillard vs. Stephens, Serra vs. Lytle II, return of Sean Sherk, Nogueira vs. Bader and of course the main event.
- One of the most toughest fighters walking the planet, Mark Hunt makes his UFC debut. He looks in AWESOME shape. I am honestly shocked at how much weight he lost, so it looks like he's taking this seriously. Don't be fooled by his latest string of losses. The guys he lost to were Barnett, Fedor, Overeem, Manhoef, and Mousasi. All those guys are tougher than any other 5 guys most fighters have faced. Some of those guys were last-minute fights and they were after long layoffs. Don't ever forget about Hunt's win over Cro Cop and Wanderlei. He has skill.
- I personally think C.B. Dollaway is a bitch. At UFC 92, he actually TAPPED to Mike Massenzio, but the ref didn't notice. He's also one of those guys who claims to be exciting but is not. The decision win he got over Goran Reljic at 110 was a gift, in my opinion. I love me some Joe Doerksen, so I hope he runs over 'The Doberman'.
- I am SO glad Stephens accepted Guillard's challenge. Both guys are VERY exciting and aggressive guys, so I expect someone to go down VERY early on in the fight. Great match-up.
- It's tough being a fan of Sean Sherk lately. He was forced to drop out of fights against Gleison Tibau at UFC 104 in October (right shoulder injury), Jim Miller at UFC 108 in January (cut on his forehead) and Clay Guida at UFC on Versus in March (undisclosed injury). It's hard seeing one of your favorite fighters (and one of the best lightweights ever) get a string of bad luck. But, I am happy we will be seeing him this Saturday. He's fighting a very tough guy who is undefeated. So I'm sure with a win, Sherk will be back chasing after the title.
- Serra vs. Lytle II. Woooooooo! This is a VERY fun fight and a fight I am looking VERY forward to. I've trained Jiu-Jitsu with Serra, and he's pretty much a beast on the ground. Not sure why he likes to use his boxing more, but that KO over Frank Trigg was serious. Lytle has been on a SERIOUS run as of late. He's had some VERY fun fights both at UFC 93 and UFC Ultimate Finale 9. His submissions at 110 and 116 were VERY well done and shows he's really well-rounded. He's never been knocked down, either. So, he is tough to finish. The first fight with these two was a VERY close fight in which Serra won, so I expect Lytle to be extra busy to earn a win for him here.
- Nogueira vs. Bader is a VERY good match-up as well. Nogueira had a little trouble with a wrestler in Jason Brilz, but I still thought he edged out a decision in that one. Bader is a GREAT wrestler with heavy hands as well. His hands aren't as technical as Nogueira's, but he does possess the power to drop you or knock you out. I think the key here is where Bader tries to take it. Nogueira is a very high-level black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and normally does do well off his back (as seen in the Shogun fight) but has EVEN better top control. Nog needs to work on his sprawl to try and stuff Bader's takedowns and maybe go for a submission from there. Either that, or Bader throws one of his wild punches, and Nogueira throws a counter and gets the KO.
- When Big Nog bowed out of the fight with Mir, I was actually pretty disappointed for obvious reasons. My disappointment turned into excitement when I heard Mirko Cro Cop was going to replace Nogueira. I like this fight with Mir in so many ways. Mirko is one of the best strikers of all time in MMA, and Mir is one of the best guys on the ground. Even though Mirko lately has been a little gun shy, I still will ALWAYS believe in him. Mir has some of the worst takedown attempts I have ever seen. I think if he goes for a takedown, Mirko will be able to stuff it and keep it on the feet and go for the win there with a leg kick --> straight right combo. Don't be fooled by Mirko's performance on his feet at 115. Pat Barry's striking > Mir's striking. GO MIRKO!
