I was just wondering if Mattel have the rights to make figures of certain characters (ie. WWE trade-marked), even though the actual wrestler isn't with or signed with the company....
eg. even though Mick Foley and Kevin Nash aren't with WWE, could Mattel still make WWE-owned "Mankind" and "Diesel" figures?
And also - what's the deal concerning wrestlers who have passed away... I know we got Hawk, Rick Rude, Mr Perfect and British Bulldog (and Andre upcoming) - can they also release guys like Yokozuna, Big Bossman and Earthquake etc. And if so, why not Owen Hart?
Cheers.

No. They need the rights to their looks.
They can make a Doink just fine, because anybody can play Doink.
Their estates have to sign a contract with Mattel saying it is ok to use their likeness and then they get paid for it.
Martha doesn't want the WWE to make one penny off of Owen's name, so she is being bitter and won't let a figure be made.

They must sign a deal. like Nash did even when he was in TNA, especially with him retiring, he'll get one i bet. Dead wrestlers can have a contract signed no their behalf by a spouse or family member, Owen's family just wants nothing to do with Vince.

Probably, but not with Nash/Foley's faces. They could just use Kane's face for Diesel then, haha.
