| World Wrestling Entertainment presents ECW on Sci-Fi - April 28th, 2009 |
A short video package is shown recapping Backlash, mainly showing the ECW Championship match between Jack Swagger and Christian. When the clip ends the ECW introduction video hits the television screens around the world as "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva featuring Brent Smith hits the P.A system and we are officially starting the April 28th edition of ECW! When the video hits the ECW logo it cuts to pyrotechnics exploding all over the stage and ramp as the camera is doing a twisting vision of the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio as we are welcomed by Matt Striker and Josh Matthews. As the pyrotechnics stop and the ECW theme stops the announcers could barely speak as they were interrupted by the new ECW Champion, Christian's theme song! The crowd is very, very hyped as out from the back comes the newly crowned ECW Champion, Christian! On his way to the ring the announcers talk about how Christian had just returned to the WWE two months before and now he was the ECW Champion. When Christian gets into the ring he grabs a microphone from Tony Chimel and his music fades as he starts to speak. "I've been here.. for two months. For those two months I've been after something, I've been after my first World Championship, I've been after Jack Swagger, and most importantly.. that ECW Championship that I've finally acquired just two nights ago! This win was not just for me, it was not just for my family, it was for every single one of you out here tonight and all of the millions of people watching on TV that have been supporting me throughout my career and return to the W-" Just then Christian was interrupted by "Check one, two- aw yeah!" or better known as Jack Swagger's theme song and out from the back came Jack Swagger wearing a casual suit and he had a microphone in one hand, but he was also clapping as he came out when his theme faded quickly. Swagger clapped for a few more times and then he stopped and started to speak. "Well done Christian, you won the title on a FLUKE. I wouldn't consider yourself champion just yet, because.. tonight I want my rematch clause to be activated now Tiffany, book it." As he finished speaking Tiffany popped up on the titantron and started to speak to both men. "Well Jack, I am very sorry to inform you but you can't activate your rematch clause because on ECW you have to earn your shot at the title. So tonight Jack, you will be part of a 10 man battle royal and the winner of that will be crowned the new number one contender for Christian's ECW Championship at Judgement Day.. But Christian, next week you will have a challenge of you're own. Christian next week, you will face "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer, who will also be apart of the 10 man battle royal. Thank you, that is all." Christian smirked and lipped to Jack Swagger to "break a leg out there" as his theme hit the P.A system for the show to go to a commercial, when the show returns it is time for the opening contest of the night between Hurricane Helms and "The Ripper" Paul Burchill who is accompanied by his sister Katie Lea Burchill.
"The Ripper" Paul Burchill defeated Hurricane Helms via Pinfall |
This match was a great choice of an opening match as these two have great chemistry in the ring. The match started with a lock-up turned into a headlock by Paul Burchill which turned to a submission which Helms eventually slipped out of and turned into a technical move of his own which then Burchill slipped out of and hit a sick DDT and from the point on in the match Burchill had an advantage but in the end Paul hit his finishing move, the Dangerous Buster, on Helms to get the 1..2..3

Post-match Burchill celebrates as the camera goes backstage to Tommy Dreamer taping up his wrists as a large boo erupts as Zack Ryder walks in and starts to speak to Tommy "Well, well, well.. if it isn't 'Da Hawt and Soul of ECW" mocking Tommy's nickname. Tommy then asks what Ryder is doing in his locker-room and Zack replies with "Oh, I just came to give you a FAREWELL gift because after tonight you'll be gone because I'm gonna kick your ass so bad in the battle royal that your gonna pack your bags and ship out in about 3 minutes." Tommy then says "C'mon Ryder, just do what you came here to do." Zack then pulls out his own specially made Zack Ryder shirt and hands it to Tommy. "I knew you were kinda FAT so I got you an extra, extra large. Just remember that was especially made for YOU big gu-" Tommy then swung a palm right at Zack's face and it connected well and then Tommy said "Nobody disrespects me.. see you out there tonight, pal." Zack held his face as Tommy pushed him out of the way and walked out of the locker-room. A short video package then showed for Judgement Day that was gonna be LIVE on Pay-Per-View on May 17th, 2009! The show goes to a quick commercial and when we return it is time for the second match of the night. The second match of the night is now Vladimir Kozlov facing Ezekiel Jackson in a match of the "Monsters" of ECW!
Ezekiel Jackson defeated Vladimir Kozlov via Pinfall |
This match was one to go in the books. The match started with a lock-up which then turned into a test of strength which turned into an eye rake by Big Zeke which then turned into Zeke taking over the match basically, but it was stopped when Zeke ran at the ropes and Vladimir stood up straight and Zeke was stopped in his tracks which then leaded into Vladmir attacking Zeke rabidly and then it turned into Vladimir just about hit a 'Battering Ram' but it was reversed into a 'Book of Ezekiel' by Jackson and then he hit the 1..2..3

After the match Vladmir walked up to Zeke as if he was going to attack him but instead he lifted his hand out and it was accepted by Big Zeke, this was officially showing that they have an alliance on ECW and they are the "strongest links" on ECW. They are walking up the ramp as the camera switches to a hype video hyping Evan Bourne who will be making his in-ring re-debut in the battle royal to crown the new number one contender. The show goes to a quick commercial and when we return Mark Henry is standing backstage with his manager, Tony Atlas. Tony Atlas starts to speak about how Mark Henry is the real dominant force of the ECW brand and he basically hyped Mark Henry for the main-event. When Atlas stopped talking a graphic popped up showing the graphic for the main-event battle royal showing: DJ Gabriel, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Jamie Noble, Mark Henry, Paul Burchill, Tommy Dreamer, Tyson Kidd, Vladimir Kozlov, and Zack Ryder. The announcers said that the main-event was NEXT! The show cut to a quick commercial before the main-event.
Evan Bourne defeated 9 Other Men to win a ECW Title Shot at Judgement Day |
The match started with everyone going straight at Mark Henry, they all basically attacked Henry until he fought back them all and pushed them all of and then quickly getting the first elimination by throwing DJ Gabriel straight over the top rope showing that he was dominant in this match. Mark Henry was waiting for the rest of them attack but Jack Swagger suddenly attacked Jamie Noble and threw him out faster then Gabriel was thrown out and then Jack Swagger was attacked by Tommy Dreamer, but Tommy was then attacked by Zack Ryder who just about threw out Tommy but was hit with a elbow to the face and then pushed off. Kozlov then threw out Kidd but was eliminated in the process when Jack Swagger tossed him over the top rope as well. The competitors still in the ring were: Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne, Mark Henry, Tommy Dreamer and Zack Ryder. Ryder went at Dreamer next but was reversed and just about was thrown over the top rope but he stopped in his own tracks and when Dreamer came running he pulled down the bottom rope and Dreamer went flying over the top rope and was eliminated! Ryder started celebrating but was then attacked by Mark Henry who was then thrown over the top rope by the working team of Jack Swagger and Evan Bourne bringing them down to the final two. Jack went running at Bourne, but Bourne ducked and when Swagger turned around he was hit with a swift kick to the gut, and then a kick to the jaw knocking Swagger to the mat, Bourne jumped up to the top rope and Swagger climbed outside on the apron to pull Bourne down, but he messed up there. Bourne jumped off the top rope and hit Swagger with his knees and Swagger hit the floor and Bourne caught himself on the bottom rope and held himself up to WIN the battle royal.

Evan Bourne then pulled himself up into the ring and started to celebrate just when Christian walked down to the ring and got into Evan Bourne's face and asked him if he was ready and they had an intense stare-down to end the April 28th, 2009 episode of ECW!

-Decent promo, getting us started here, liking the nine man Battle Royal tonight. -The Ripper over Hurricane was sort of expected. Push the Ripper aka Paul Burchill. -Jackson over Kozlov is good as Jackson has the bigger fanbase here. -Evan Bourne winning the Battle Royal is good. I did the same thing and it was pretty fun too. -Solid show; hope this atleast makes it to Judgment Day, and hopefully carries longer.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 28th April 2009...Alright, a pretty good era to begin with, with Christian as new ECW Champion. I am hoping we see Christian and Jack Swagger face off once again down the line, though. Good promo with the new champion to start off, your layout is quite impressive. Jack Swagger interrupting was nice, the battle royal to determine a new number one contender could be quite interesting. Good opening contest with Paul Burchill beating Hurricane Helms, but hoping these two don't have their neverending feud in your diary. Tommy Dreamer and Zack Ryder's segment was nicely written, intrigued where this could go. Wonder if Dreamer will get his ECW Championship shot before his 'contract expires' though. Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov was an interesting match when this feud began with the two trying to impress the other; good solid bout here. Zeke with the win is best as he seems to be going more uphill than Kozlov. Hopefully Abraham Washington arrives shortly. Evan Bourne beating nine other superstars is best; interesting route to go for the mini-feud, Evan and Christian obviously going to feud into Judgment Day, but I am hoping that we see Swagger insert himself between the two going up to Extreme Rules next month. Overall, a decent start, please don't let the diary out as this could be your shining point. I enjoyed reading, genuinely. Hopefully we see more, perhaps WWE Superstars results? I'm keeping up with this.
