I saw on the commercial that Katie Featherston is in this one, too. Didn't it say at the end of the first one that she escaped and they never found her or something? This one I read takes place 3 months before the 1st movie. Ah that would make sense, I didn't know that.

This one I read takes place 3 months before the 1st movie. Ah that would make sense, I didn't know that. I watched some guys review on the movie and he said SPOILER (white text) Paranormal Activity 2 takes place 60 days after the first one. Katie has already been possesed and she is going to cause disturbance to her relatives.

I still don't understand how anyone was actually frightened by this movie. The only "scary" thing is how long the girl had been with the guy, considering he was an insensitive douche the entire movie. I think Paranormal Activity is the type of movie that is all or nothing for the viewer. Either you're absolutely terrified by it, or you found it to be boring and overrated. The reason it still haunts me to this day is because it taps into primal fear. Its whole purpose is to take advantage of a person when they are most vulnerable - when they are asleep. When we sleep, we're defenseless and truth be told, we have no idea what is going on around us. I kept thinking about that throughout the movie and after the fact and it still chills me to this day. The other big factor is that, to me, not seeing what I'm afraid of is far more terrifying than actually confronting it. The lack of visual makes my imagination run wild and builds up the tension and belief that eventually I may have to see what it is that is scaring me so badly. My aunt is obsessed with horror movies and we've gone back and forth on Paranormal Activity dozens of times. She didn't find it scary at all, and thought it was pretty lackluster. I usually feel the same way about most horror movies that she likes. For me, Paranormal Activity was much more than just a jump scare, which is what I look for in a horror movie. It is the first, and only movie that genuinely frightened and stuck with me.

Just got back from the second one... really didnt enjoy it at all. The first one wasnt perfect but I did find it to have its moments. This one TOTALLY relies on the jump scares. The first one had some nice tension building up with the footsteps showing up in the hallway powder, and the chase to the attic and such.. but this one relies solely on things falling down or getting knocked over... which to me is just stupid.
I thought the most interesting thing about the movie was the damn pool cleaner...

The first one was the worst. The acting was fantastic, but the whole movie was just ing terrible over all.

I liked the first one, but since this is no longer an independent film, and a studio production instead, I have very little hope. But I'll see it, I get all my movies for free anyways

I'll probably get this for free from my library which is good since these ers screwed me out of $10 last year. Biggest waste of money and time last year at the movies for me imo. At least getting it from the library is free and if I am bored I can multi task.

All of you bashing this, and s**tting on it....I have one thing to say. Go ghost hunting one time. Do some paranormal research yourself, and then when you realize that stuff like this is real - I know the movie wasn't - but when you realize that ghosts and other paranormal entities are out there, you won't be so quick to s**t on this movie. On topic, I loved the first one, and really wanna see the 2nd one. Might take one weekend night here real soon and go see Jackass 3D again, and immediately follow it up with Paranormal Activity 2. I'm a huge believer of ghosts and I've done some paranormal research as well, and I still find this movie to be absolutely terrible. I also don't know how ghost hunting has anything to do with people bashing the movie.

People need to actually see this one before they trash it.

My lady friend works for Paramount, and last night she brought me along on a press screening that she was covering. There were some Paranormal Cops there, Ebert was there, it was pretty cool, I'd never experienced anything like that. It was really cool seeing my lady take the mic and talk to everyone before it started. Sometimes you find new things to respect your significant other for.
That being said, I liked the movie. I don't get "OH MY GOD I'M TERRIFIED" from movies, but that's not a bad thing. This was definitely just as much fun as the first one was to experience. The silences are just as suspenseful, the scenes where sh*t does go down are just as eerie and fun to watch. I liked it as much as I liked the first one, for sure. I'm glad I was able to go along.

Ah that would make sense, I didn't know that. I watched some guys review on the movie and he said SPOILER (white text) Spoiler is wrong, man. I won't say why it's wrong or what the case is, but it's not even really a spoiler. A quarter of the way through the movie they let you know what the deal is.
