I really can't wait to own this figure. I hope they end up releasing it earlier than they announced.

They aren't "scans", they are molds And his name isn't "Macho Man"... it's "Macho Man Randy Savage"! And your username should have apostrophes and capital letters!! And "Getcha" isn't even a real word!! OMG!! [/sarcasm] Ever since jakks introduced realscan in 1999, "headscan" has become the most commonly used term for figure heads. Its the standard around here, just like "figs" means figures, "balloon head" means disproportionately large head and "Jakks" means "disappointment" Everyone knows what richardsmoker means. And anyway, Mattel does use 3D scanning technology on their figures, and even with people it's not practical to scan (eg. they're much older and look too different, or they're dead, or not available or whatever) there is technology out there which allows a 3D computer model to be made from scanning a photograph of someone. This can then be improved on the computer, before being outputted to wax and given the finishing touches by a sculptor, and finally sent for moulding. We don't know if Mattel does use the photograph scanning technology, but it wouldn't surprise me if they do. I'm pretty sure it was established at the beginning that Mattel wasn't using any scanning technology on these at all, it was all in house sculptors. I've read about the idea of scanning pictures and what have you for the figures, but my understanding was that it wasn't practical and was cost prohibitive, so even Jakks didn't use it.
