I mean zero tolerance. I don't care who you are, how long you have been here, or why. There will be no fighting, bashing, name-calling, insulting, trolling, fight baiting, or any other type of inappropriate behavior. ANY instances of any of this, will result in an immediate warning, and subsequent banning, and deletion from the site. It doesn't matter who you are, so don't test me. We have been way too lenient for way too long in the past, and that will no longer be the case. I have asked the moderator to keep a very close eye on this thread, as will I. If you feel the need to test me, go right ahead, but I assure you I am completely tired the bullcrap that has spawned from the last several NBA threads. So if you think you can't handle it, then stay away.
With that having been said, the NBA starts tonight. Discuss.

A sports board with no verbal bashing is like a Brett Favre picture text with no penis.

A sports board with no verbal bashing is like a Brett Favre picture text with no penis. True, but for whatever reason people in the NBA thread take the bashing way more personally. In the NFL and MLB threads it's a playful banter, mocking each other, but NBA thread is apparently serious business.

Interesting Season openers tonight. I'll be missing most of the Celtics/Heat game due to class but I'll be sure to catch the highlights.

Tonight's games should be really good. I have the Celtics winning and the Rockets upsetting Los Angeles.

Halloween Nets vs Heat. Should be a blowout but nice to see my Nets try,and beat three superstars plus I have pretty good seats.

I got tickets for a few but I'm most excited for Dec. 22nd against the Thunder.
Well, here comes the long road to finding out who will win it all? Miami or LA?
If LA gets healthy I think they can and will. Otherwise, by the time the playoffs start I expect Miami to be nearly unstoppable.

I know it's only the first quarter and it's bound to change but damn Miami is so sloppy right now, it's pretty hard to watch.

I can't remember the last time I couldn't turn away from even one second of a regular season game.
On defense early, you could see shades of why Miami is going to be great, or can be. But they are a work on progress. They missed weak side rotation 3 times already.
Also on offense, they don't appear to be running half court sets, looks like a lot of iso and 2 man play. Not a lot of ball movement. I know it's early but their chemistry on offense has been completely nonexistent.

Really good defensive battle so far, hope the offense gets going for the Heat in the second half so this can be a game.

The Heat are poorly coached. All those weapons (with no team identity) and that team was making fundamental mistakes like off the ball play and weak side help? For most of the game they were only using one side of the half court!?!
They missed weak side help 5 times in the first quarter (twice on one possession). Also look at their assists, they had more turnovers than assists.
How many tough shots did Wade, LeBron and Bosh take? Why? Isn't that why they came here, to not take them?
Boston looked good making all of the extra passes. KG even passed out of getting his own offensive rebound to find Davis wide open for a jumper.
The Heat should get it together but it might be a trial and error year for them. As I said over the Summer, LeBron and Wade like to do the same things and Bosh is like actually the worst possible star big man to put with them (plays a soft style, away from the basket).
They've got 3 guys that like isolation and creating their own jumpers/shots, no point guard and no big man down low to help spread the floor. Wade or LeBron are gonna have to drastically alter what they do, and so far it looks like they are both playing the same way they did a year ago.
Right now their decisions to play together don't look justified, because they all were taking tough shots tonight.
