what a great card...can't wait...
Quinton Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida- So I have been watching a lot of interviews from Rampage talking about this fight and I can't tell if he is EXTREMELY FOCUSED or if he is just over fighting and looks at this as another payday. Rampage hasn't really impressed me since his win against Henderson. I will forever be a Rampage fan but I'm thinking Lyoto takes this one with ease. I would MUCH rather see Rampage win because if he wins...that would be huge. Because it doesn't matter if he were to fight Evans again or Shogun again, both fights would be VERY MARKETABLE.
Matt Hughes vs. B.J. Penn- So hard to pick. Was Edgar just THAT good. Or is Penn slowly showing signs of a fighter who has lost his desire? We all know Penn has never been big on training but he would still always put up a great fight due to his natural abilities...for the Edgar fights I thought he would train as hard as possible...I don't know what to think of Penn right now. Hughes has been looking amazing as of late. Just when everyone thought he was done after being KO'd by Alves, Hughes proves everyone wrong with three straight victories. Serra, Gracie, and Almeida. Almeida was one of the most impressive. I think this one will be more back and forth than the first two were. I might be wrong but I'm thinking Matt Hughes wins this.
Gerald Harris vs. Maiquel Falcão
Phil Davis vs. Tim Boetsch
George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Lauzon- I am really excited to see Sotiropoulos fight again. He is one of the most exciting bjj guys in the UFC. I think this one goes the distance though.
Karo Parisyan vs. Dennis Hallman- I have been a fan of Karo for quite sometime. I feel he is in that group of fighters who had the potential to be something amazing..but because of injuries, contract negotiations, etc they never reached their potential and time has seemingly passed them by...I hope I am wrong though. I hope we see some beautiful throws along with an exciting fight..because a motivated Karo ALWAYS brings it. Edson Barboza vs. Mike Lullo Paul Kelly vs. T.J. O'Brien Tyson Griffin vs. Nik Lentz Matt Brown vs. Brian Foster Aaron Simpson vs. Mark Muñoz

Sorry James. lol
I'm extremely excited for this one, namely for Penn/Hughes III, and just had to get the thread going.
If you want me add anything to the main post that you had written up, feel free to send it to me and I'll edit the OP and credit you.

yeah, I stopped making these threads after 117, since my format looked like **** compared to the typical JH one.
I hope Karo gets KTFO.

Another fantastic-looking card, interesting to see how Karo will fare once back in the Octagon. Also excited for George Sotiropoulos, Paul Kelly, Tyson Griffin, and of course the main event and co-main event.

Anyone else agree that this is a must win for Penn? He already thought about taking some time off after losing to Edgar twice. I dont think hes going to get fired or anything, but where would this leave him if he lost again?

Pretty much, yes. He and Dana have never been on the best of terms as it is, but I could see him falling far off the boat if he loses 3 in a row. I doubt he'll be cut(for the same reason's Chuck and Tito are still around). I was told by one his(Penn's) close friends that he didn't want to fight anywhere other than the UFC, because of the competition level offered. But if he loses 3 in a row, I doubt Dana would just play it off. Not to mention what it does to his legacy, credibility, and overall value/draw as a competitor. It would ing kill me to see BJ Penn in the same boat as Liddell, Ortiz, Cro Cop, etc. Here's another question...what would a win for Hughes mean?

UFC 123 "RAMPAGE VS. MACHIDA", 11/20/2010 (PPV/Spike TV/ESPN-UK) The Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills MI
1. Lightweight bout: Tyson Griffin vs. Nik Lentz 2. Lightweight bout: Paul Kelly vs. T.J. O'Brien 3. Lightweight bout: Edson Barboza vs. Mike Lullo 4. Welterweight bout: Karo Parisyan vs. Dennis Hallman 5. Middleweight bout: Aaron Simpson vs. Mark Muñoz 6. Welterweight bout: Matt Brown vs. Brian Foster 7. Lightweight bout: George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Lauzon 8. Light Heavyweight bout: Tim Boetsch vs. Phil Davis 9. Middleweight bout: Gerald Harris vs. Maiquel Falcão 10. Welterweight bout: Matt Hughes vs. B.J. Penn 11. Light Heavyweight bout: Quinton Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida
Lotta hard fights to pick here. This is a great card with lots of up-and-comers and legends. Can't wait.
I am actually pulling for Lauzon to win his fight, but I believe Sotiropoulos' pressure will get the best of Joe and he'll lose a unanimous decision to George. Should be fun though.
This is the time to shine for Phil Davis and Gerald Harris. They both have looked great in their past fights and I just hope they're able to do well in their fights so they can get noticed more.
Penn vs. Hughes is a very tough fight to call. Hughes has looked great in his past 3 fights, beating Serra, Gracie and Almeida. He shocked me when he was able to actually drop Almeida and put him to sleep with that front choke/headlock. Penn, on the other hand, hasn't looked so good in his last 2. He lost a close fight against Edgar in April, but got DOMINATED against him in August. I wasn't sure if it was Edgar's speed that was throwing Penn off, or if it was just that Penn wasn't really motivated to fight him. Penn's corner has also been a problem as of late. They keep telling Penn he won each round, and not really giving him any general advice. I heard Penn will have new cornermen for this fight, so I hope that problem has been fixed. I think BJ just need to train in a whole new camp. He seems content with training with people he knows, rather than new people. I think BJ will be a bit faster than Hughes, and a lot better in the standup department, but I think Hughes will get it on the ground and win a decision. Although in my heart, I want BJ to win, Hughes has just looked too good lately. BJ should have stayed at Lightweight.
Rampage vs. Lyoto is another great fight. Rampage has one-shot KO power and Lyoto is very hard to hit. I think this will end up on the feet for the entire fight and I just don't see Rampage being able to hit Machida with anything serious. Lyoto will counter every punch Rampage throws and throw him off with his kicks as well. I can ONLY hope for a big KO win for Rampage, but he is just isn't technical enough on his feet to be able to do that. Don't be surprised if Rampage goes for a takedown, either.

Really looking forward to this... the Hughes/Penn 3 fight moreso than the main event actually! I'm going with Penn to win by decision... even in their second fight, he was totally dominating Hughes until he gassed-out (or cracked a rib) in the third. I think Penn will be very motivated - which he never really seemed against Edgar... he seems to like and get more motivated for the big-name fights and grudge-matches (Pulver, Hughes, Sherk, Florian, Sanchez). Penn's conditioning is much better than when he last fought Hughes, so I don't think he'll gas-out this time - and if he can't finish Hughes on the ground, I think he'll win a unanimous decision.
I hope Rampage/Machida is a good fight - I'd love Rampage to get the KO (or win) but can see Machida fighting this at a distance to win a fairly dull decision. It will be interesting to see what happens if Rampage connects cleanly - but Machida just might be too elusive.
