"Turdas, 11th of Heartfire, 4E 201 After arriving in Skyrim several weeks ago, it seems like my journey still has a long way to go. My trip to the College of Winterhold (in hopes that the Arch-Mage will be able to figure out what those jealous bastards of House Telvanni did to me) came to a halt almost immediately. During an Imperial raid on the Stormcloak faction, I ended up being knocked out and apprehended. Perhaps I should have fought back, but with my magic being limited, I feared that I would only make the situation worse. How much worse could it have been, though. As it turns out, even though they didn't have me on their lists to be arrested, much less punished, they still were ready to put my head on the chopping block after executing another prisoner. Before I could meet my demise, a large black dragon attacked sending Stormcloaks, Imperials, and myself scattering. As a favor to the village that took me in, I warned the Jarl of Whiterun about the threat and I ended up assisting in the killing of a different dragon shortly after. I absorbed some sort of essence from the creature and the soldiers called me Dragonborn. I was summoned by a reclusive group called the Greybeards and I learned a great deal from them. Turns out I absorbed the dragon's soul, and learned some of the Dovahzul, or dragon language. I've since slain several other dragons, and with each soul I absorb and word I learn, I get more powerful. My Thu'ums gain more power and become more varied, and strangely enough some of my old spells are returning. This is what's put my trip to Winterhold on hold. After an encounter with the leader of what's left of the Blades, I've agreed to help Delphine in her investigation into the dragons' return. Learning more on this subject may help to understand the sporadic return of some of my former power. I must exercise caution, though. My spells seem stronger than before and has already put some allies at risk, including the accidental death of Meeko, a fierce dog I was fond of. I dismissed my housecarl, Lydia in the aftermath, and have given her run of my house in Whiterun. As Thane of that hold, I will still have to make appearances there, but I'm currently residing in a small castle I found near a giant encampment. It has all the space and facilities I could ask for to explore my both my new and returning powers. Having a giant in the vicinity should keep the grounds free from bandits and others. I'll see where this investigation with Delphine leads, but for now I'm still a shell of my former self, not able to utilize the higher level spells I mastered long ago. The Thu'um helps (to a small extent) to make up for the loss and may be the reason for the erratic return of some spells. I'll learn what I can, and then resume my journey to the College. I fear I'll need all the power I can muster in the conflicts to come, despite trying to help out the people of Skyrim, I've almost been executed, and have been attacked by vampires, dragons, assassins from the Dark Brotherhood, and cultists that follow a being named Miraak. Certainly this can't be the fabled Miraak of legend: the first Dragonborn, but no matter who it is, he represents another potentially dire threat to all life. Then there is still the possibility that House Telvanni watches and pursues me. They've managed to limit my power somehow, so I doubt they're happy about me being Dragonborn. I'll update this journal, should I continue to survive. Kelek Wolfsbane"

"Turdas, 9th of Frostfall
I've helped to get Esbern and Delphine settled into Sky Haven Temple. The old man studied a glyph wall which told of a shout that defeated Alduin in ancient times. The Greybeards did not know the shout, so I finally got to meet their leader, Paarthurnax. He was certainly wasn't I was expecting to find at the Throat of the World. While he didn't know the shout the ancient Nords used, he did teach me quite a bit about the Thu'um. In meditating on the Words of Power, more of my forgotten spells and control continue to return. Great Paarthurnax suggested the College of Winterhold as a place where I could find an Elder Scroll that could help to learn the shout. The place I came to Skyrim for in the first place may be a factor in this whole Dragonborn business. This can't be a coincidence.
I've defeated and absorbed the souls of several dragons in the last few weeks. I also came across a powerful being residing at Shearpoint. A Dragon Priest named Krosis attacked me when I attempted to learn a Word of Power. He surprised me with the ferocity of his attack, but in the end I slayed him and a took possession of his mask. It's too powerful of an item to have in the world, possibly falling into the wrong hands. I have mask safely locked away in the Keep. I'll have to be wary of more of these beings. Also locked away is the sword, Dawnbreaker, given to me by the Daedric Prince known as Meridia after I killed a necromancer that was defiling her temple. I've thwarted several more attacks from the followers of Miraak, and another assassination attempt by the Dark Brotherhood. Who issued them a contract and why? I'm almost certain that House Telvanni is the answer to both of those questions. Is there no end to the wonders, and dangers, of this land?
Tomorrow I set out for Sky Haven Temple to inform the Blades of my findings. Should be an interesting meeting, as the 'beards and Blades seem to dislike and distrust each other. I've already informed Lydia of my plans. She wasn't as upset as I thought she'd be at being left behind, so I'll take that as a sign of her confidence in my ability to defend myself."

"Tirdas, 28th of Frostfall Finally I've made it to the College of Winterhold. The Arch-Mage is unsure of what's happened to me, he says he's never known of any spell created that can so drastically limit a mage's ability and access to memories. He'll research the problem as I help out around the College. Even in my diminished state, there is still much the students can learn from me. We uncovered an unusual orb in Saarthal, and I also procured the Elder Scroll Paarthurnax told me about. In what I hope is a rare and unusual circumstance, I did battle with 3 extremely powerful dragons simultaneously near Winterhold. They seemed to be well-coordinated in their attacks and it kept me on the defensive, casting healing spells while figuring out a plan of attack. A forgotten spell came to me in the heat of battle and I conjured a dragon of my own and it helped to distract my attackers. Even my most powerful lightning spell had little effect at first, but it slowly wore them down, and they all eventually fell before me. I've smithed and enchanted a suit of ebony armor that I've managed to harvest over time. Along with a matching bow and greatsword, I gifted them to Lydia after replenishing supplies at my Keep. I may need her help if I have such an encounter again. She will accompany me back to Winterhold. The students could benefit from her warrior's way of thinking."

I like the ruins of Winterhold mod. Adds a bit more character to the hold. Is this PS4? Is that a user mod or a Bethesda update?

I'm completely ignorant of mods. I have PS4, how do I get them?

I'm on PS4, and it couldn't be easier. On the load screen where you have the option to continue your last game, choose a different file, or start a new game, you'll see the MODS option. It'll sign you into the Bethesda site (you'll need an account - bethesda.net/en/dashboard), and you can sort through all the available mods for PS4. You can download the ones you want, and it'll install them when you back out of the Bethesda site. Read the descriptions for each mod, as some may need to be loaded in a certain order which you can access (triangle button, I think) and arrange. Be careful, as us PS4 users only have 1GB of space available for mods.

Thank you so much for that. Sincerely, those 5 or 6 sentences you wrote will make a world of difference for me! LMK, if you come across any that you particularly like.

"Middas, 12th of Sun's Dusk Alduin escaped me! With the guidance of Paarthurnax, I read the Elder Scroll at the "time wound" at the Throat of the World and glimpsed the past. I learned the "Dragonrend" shout that made Alduin vulnerable to the ancient Nord heroes. Using it, I was able to ground the mighty dragon and slayed him with my magic. Or so I thought. He fled from the mountain and has apparently gone to Sovngarde to feed upon the souls there, according to Esbern. Esbern also wants me to kill my mentor, Paarthurnax, despite saying that past emperors have protected the dragon. If emperors have seemingly forgiven him, who am I to judge. He taught men how to use the shouts which led to the Nords banishing Alduin and has only helped men ever since. Dragonborn or no, I'm just a Breton mage looking for help in a personal matter. I did not come to Skyrim to get into politics and philosophical debates, and yet it seems like I'm getting pulled into these things no matter what I desire. There's a civil war brewing that has the people of Skyrim united. I'd rather not get involved, especially being an outsider, but perhaps there is something I can do to help unite these people. Then again, most Nords seem to hate magic users. Such a dilemma. There is still so much to do. Dragons seem to be everywhere. I killed 2 of them outside of Rorikstead. They weren't actively attacking anyone, but their proximity to the town was too close for my comfort. The attacks by Miraak's followers seem to have increased, as has the vampire threat. There's only so much I can tackle at one time. I set out today to re-forge the Gaulder Amulet. It may be connected with the strange orb I found in Saarthal, so I'm hoping to solve this particular mystery, and perhaps the Arch Mage will have some good news for me. I could use some."

Question; I'm using a mod that essentially raises your level by 10 every time you read a skill book. So right now I have everything at lvl 100. My question is, what is the difference between a level 100 skill that has an empty skill level up bar versus a level 100 skill that has a full level up bar? Is there a difference?

The perks add the power to the skill. For example, a '100' score in archery will do more base damage, of course, but it's best to combine it with the added damage/stagger/sneak bonus damage/etc. you get from the perks. From elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Archery_(Skyrim): I believe that's not even factoring in the extra damage for having a smithed bow. If nothing else from that skill tree, it's well worth it for any archer to max out (5/5) the Overdraw perk. Stuff like armor and other weapons are also affected by the perks for those particular skill trees, and by the smithing perks. Use the perks that pertain to the particular skill you are using, or plan to use.
