Since UFC 124 is now in the history books, and yet another dominant performance from GSP, it's time to look in the future, and what's next for GSP.
As much as I was hoping for Silva/GSP in Toronto, doesn't look like that's going to happen. Soo, if GSP does indeed fight on the 131 card, he'll likely be fighting Jake Shields.
Considering many have talked about this fight for a while, just wondering how all you see this match going?

How do I see it going?? I see it going just like the rest of GSP's fights from the last 3 years, total and complete domination. Shields looked horrible in his last performance against Kampmann and in my opinion, he lost that fight. I think the judges favored him just becase he was the new guy in the UFC. It was definitely a bad performance for sure. Where-as GSP looked better than ever against Koscheck last night. Still putting on dominating performances. And against Shields will be no different what-so-ever. Sheilds could barely go 3 rounds with Martin Kampmann. Imagine if he had to go 5 with GSP. He'd be out of gas by the end of the 2nd because of the way GSP would pressure him. Jake Shields doesn't have a ing chance against GSP. GSP is far too good to get beaten by this guy. Another dominating win for GSP.

I think it will be easier than most people are expecting... GSP might even get his first stoppage in a while. While he's certainly a good fighter, I've never been that impressed with Shields.

Personally I'm amazed at those content to write of Shields because of one bad performance, not so much here but on MMA sites I use. He clearly struggled with the weight cut which affected his performance, but still managed to win.
Shields will walk in with a 15 fight win streak. Against a decent group of fighters including Hendo, Mayhem, Daley, Lawler, Nick Thompson, Mike Pyle, Condit & Okami.
He's a solid all round fighter & imo will be GSP's stiffest test to date. Still not convinced he'll be GSP who has been on a tear right now but really is the only fight left for GSP at Welter that I have any interest unless Nick Diaz gets signed!

He won't beat GSP, but he'll certainly give him a test.

If it goes to the ground then yes it will be a hard fight, but if it stays up GSP should have no problem.

No doubt in my mind GSP wins this one. Shields will give him some problems, but I fully expect GSP to take this one.

Shields is a fantastic fighter. And he will give GSP his toughest test in a while. I still think GSP and Jackson will come up with a strategy to exploit Shields weaknesses and win though. Also I don't think Shields gasses like he did against Kampmann, that was very uncharacteristic for him and the thing I guess I could probably put it down to is he hadn't cut to welterweight in like 2 years. Should be a good fight.

I'm not a very big Shields fan, but I do acknowledge the guys skill. I think the one thing that keeps me from giving him a good chance against GSP is his less than stellar stand-up. If GSP negates his takedown attempts, and forces Shields to strike, I can see this being a brutal night for Jake.

GSP is going to murder him. Jake won't be able to take GSP down and if he does, GSP will get right up immediately. That negates a submission attempt and Jakes ability to wrestleF**K his way to a decision like he's done recently. Jake Shields also has terrible striking that GSP will easily exploit.
GSP wins by stoppage.

i give shields all the respect in the world, but he barely got through kampmann. Exactly. I couldn't agree more. I just re-watched the Kampmann/Shields fight and he looked horrible. He was gassed half way through the 2nd round. Like I said before, I think the way GSP will pressure him will be too much for him to overcome. It'll probably be over in the 3rd round because Shields will be completely gassed out by that point.

I'd like to see this. Shields is great, so is GSP for that matter, but GSP will rack up the W in my book.
