*First off ive had a bit to drink tonight so bare with me please* so pre-80's wrestling, it was bare bonedsport, not very muscular men or that, just chubby dudes 'wrastling then the 80's, WWF, most if not all wrestlers had a gimmick, which must have appealed to the world wide audience correct? doink the clown, sgt slaughter, hogan the american hero, andre the f'n huge giant, bret, hitman, heart, M$M, you name it they had a gimmick, Then the 90's, The attitude era, this was hardcore wrestling, 18-24 male demographic, and just hatred and humor and sex appeal all in 1, less gimmicks, and more 'real life' dudes, knocking each others teeth out, sure gimmicks are still to be had, taker and the ministry, vince and the corperation, rather movie styled story lines and then the 2000+ era, its all about the best dudes wrestling, and having only wathed the forst half of the 2000 decade, i cant say much, however 1 phrase, "PG", so all in all, i remember a thread having in it storylines rotating every 7 or so years or something, so how about the actual wrestling style? gimmick, hardcore, muscle+fitness...... So the point of this thread i supose is your thoughts on the gimmicks and how wrestlings changed i suppose, all be it i limited it to wwf mostly *merry x-mas by the way*

Don't drink and post, kids.
In all seriousness, I was thinking you'd be a little bit more specific with the eras. I'd break them up into periods of 5 years, at least. Because within the 90s was more than just the Attitude era. It started off trailing from the golden years' larger than life superstars and villains ('90-'92), then went into the super gimmicky period ('93-'96), then the attitude era ('97-'99).
That's how I see the 90's I suppose.
