when buying jakks figures they used to bring about 9 or 10 figures out every few months. classic series maybe 2 or 3 times a year. are mattel going overboard by bringing as many as they can out all at once. i want them all but cant afford them

Yes i think so. I used to collect just Basics and 2 packs. I was getting them all at first then had nothing to do til the next set came out then i started collecting Elites along the way. Then i would collect Legends as soon as they came out which was a no brainer since i love the way they look and like them more then todays current wrestlers for the most part.
Now stuff just keeps coming and coming and coming. I have seen Basic series 7 i think once. Now series 8 is starting to hit stores already. I really think i am going to stop collecting the Basics and 2-packs and just stick to Elites (possibly) and will def. collect the legends and Defining Moments.
So just me alone is going from Legends, Basics, 2 packs, DM, and Elites down to Maybe Elites and the Legends and DM all b/c there is just to much coming out to quick and not enough money to buy it all. We are getting alot of repaints too which i am not to crazy about. The stands are also one reason i am cutting back but that is another arguement.
I think Mattel needs to come out with a release schedule that works. There was times where i went to stores and couldn't find anything new or there was nothing released for a while, then all the sudden they are released 2 and 3 sets at a time. RSC hasn't even got in DM HBK and now Series 2 might be coming in already? That's bullcrap imo. Spread it out Mattel. I also think after the holidays we won't see anything out that much since stores do inventory after the holidays.

I think Mattel is only doing this for the holidays, to get as much stock out to retail. We might be in for some dry months ahead.

Maybe for the folks who pre-order everything from RSC, but most of us who wait for retail are just now getting in Elite 6 so 7 is probably a ways away and same with Basic 7 and 8. Legends 3 is just now hitting stores so we still awhile for 4 as well.

i do feel like there are too many mattel lines coming out but a lot of the basics are just repaints which isn't that bad.

There's a lot out there, but just as its been pointed out there is still a lot left to hit retail. So we will still have plenty to scour for. And for me personally, there are quite a few repaints I won't need. To me its a breath of fresh air to collect a toyline that keeps me on my toes. And in a good way. Not like the way DC Classics does, when IF I see a new wave at retail ,I got into freak out mode if I don't have the cash right then. Cause I know if I don't find a way right at that moment,I will probably never see them again.

I remember when Mattel first hit and we got 2 pack series 1 then 2 almost right after. I wish they would take their time with releasing figures but I have found everyone it's just my wallet that is suffering the most...

I pretty much stick to only buying new characters; so for me they come out sort of slow. If I bought all the repaints though I wouldn't be able to keep up.

i only collect the main roster and random classics and as of right now I'm all caught up so I'm thinking they should push the basic line at least out faster.

I think everyone who posts here is a collector. What is your point? Collectors get all the figures. Everybody else gets some not all. My point is that for Collectors they do have to get all the figures (well they don't have to but its their hobby so they do)

My point is that for Collectors they do have to get all the figures (well they don't have to but its their hobby so they do) thats not a collector.. thats a completist... there is a difference.. im a collector of MANY toy lines.. i have probably a dozen different collections going on at once... but i only have to have ALL of very very few lines... i think thats what they are getting at... we are all collectors...

I used to buy every figure... Now I just collect all Elites, all Legends, anyone in Basic who is new and doesn't have an Elite yet, and all Mysterio, Jericho, Miz, HBK, Christian, Kofi Kingston, CM Punk, & Cody Rhodes. Seems to work for me.
