There's been some major problems in all of the lines, but overall Mattel has done great for their first year.
Biggest complaints:
Loose Elite ankles Stiff knee pads Lack of Elite attires No Zack Ryder and we've waited a year for Sheamus No belts for over 11 months

Where have they exceeded your expectations? depth of roster, attention to scale(for the most part) and variety of attires.
Where is there room for improvement? head scans need some tweaking. certain molds are awkward in the basic line. What earned them extra credit points? the details, its nice buying a figure and not having to break out the paints to make them look like they do in the ring.
What did they do to lose points? certain scans were way off and some paint apps on hair were blah.
Best head scan of the year? Elite Kane without a doubt. that scan is scary how accurate it is.
Worst head scan of the year? both Swaggers were lacking
Best overall figure this year? Elite Kane, thing is perfect and is pretty much a tiny Kane. so good.

I gave them an A+. Fair prices, incredible detail, correct scale, wrestlers that don't look jacked up, and although distribution was a little iffy at the beginning of the year, there's always something different on the pegs nearby every month or so.
...that was a long sentence, sorry.

I'd give Mattel an A- for the first year. There was several things they did right but there is also things they need to improve on.
Where have they exceeded your expectations? The detail put into these figures definitely blew my expectations away.
Where is there room for improvement? Distribution is something Mattel really still needs to work on. It needs to become more consistent within stores and area. There should not be a month-month & 1/2 difference from one person finding them in one area to someone finding them elsewhere. Also it would be nice if stores weren't so far behind others. TRU, Target, Walmart etc should all get new stuff at the same time. The other thing they need to improve on is quality control. The little marks and spots of paint need to be watched for more carefully.
What earned them extra credit points? I'd say making figures of Steamboat & Savage. They were two of the most wanted wrestlers and Mattel got both done in 1 year.
What did they do to lose points? First off I have to join others in saying the lack of Zack Ryder getting a figure.
We know Cena, Mysterio and guys like that are hot sellers but please for the love of god we don't need them in EVERY set. Character selection could be worked on a bit for the new year. Get us more of the divas because that's what your really lacking Mattel.
Best head scan of the year? Randy Orton
Worst head scan of the year? 2 Packs Series 8 John Cena. That scan is just hideous.
Best overall figure this year? I'd say either Elite 2 Orton or DM 1 Macho Man.

It's great how some coward can hide behind a computer and give Mattel and F without any explanation. Glad some people are strong enough to fess up to something. Mattel>Jakks. Anyway, I gave them an A, mostly due to Terra's explanation. Where have they exceeded your expectations? The Legends line came out a lot better than I thought. Also, the figure belts are incredible. Where is there room for improvement? More Title's and Accessories like tables, chairs, ladders What earned them extra credit points? Detail. I have always looked for detail in wrestling figures, and Mattel hasn't missed any IMO. What did they do to lose points? Too many released in 2010, Quality over Quantity. The figures did look great, but there were so many released, it was hard to keep up sometimes. Also, lack of any figure belts in the first year was a let down. Looking forward to them in Elite 8 though. Best head scan of the year? Maryse. I feel it is truly spot on, especially out of the divas figures. Worst head scan of the year? Gotta go with Basic 2Pack 8 Cena. It's horrid. Best overall figure this year? Gotta be a tie between Masters/Hurricane/EG DiBiase. All of those figures are AMAZING!! I voted F. Come at me bro. In all seriousness I voted at C. There figures are very accurate but they will make a headscan that is crap, It will be frowned upon and they will use it again anyway. Some other QC issues too like staining and the ankles.

I gave a B-. I only collect Orton, Undertaker, and Legends from Mattel. My grade is based on the fact that I hate some of the attire choices on the Legends line. Dusty, Jake, Rude, Snuka, and Steamboat I passed on because of bad attire choices.

Where have they exceeded your expectations? - We have a good majority of the roster already. Can't say I expected that last year.
Where is there room for improvement? - Distribution. Too many dry spells throughout the year.
What earned them extra credit points? - Attention to detail.
What did they do to lose points? - Lack of stands in the later portion of the year.
Best head scan of the year? - OTL Cm Punk
Worst head scan of the year? - Series 2 Jack Swagger
Best overall figure this year? - Series 7 Sheamus

Where is there room for improvement? Head sculpts - More of them, Better elite scans
What earned them extra credit points? Legends signings - Macho man, Ricky Steamboat etc...
What did they do to lose points? Loss of stands Bad head sculpts Lack of accessories Expensive price in UK (and Europe) No Legends in UK
Best head scan of the year? Kamala
Worst head scan of the year? Elite Kozlov (Elite) Rowdy Roddy Pipper (Legends 2-pack))
Best overall figure this year? Kamala

B+/A- for me.
I voted A- but mainly because they make too many of the same figure when they should be making everyone.
7 unique divas is nice but it should be more especially when Cena has like 10+ figs.

Where have they exceeded your expectations?
Overall product. The figures are collector-geared and even the packaging is top notch.
Where is there room for improvement?
As a HBK-only collector, I've been disappointed in his headscans. What earned them extra credit points?
Accuracy of some Divas. What did they do to lose points?
HBK's headscans and (so far) picking some of his recent, less-attractive attire. Best head scan of the year?
Sheamus. That is one sweet figure. Worst head scan of the year?
Just about any HBK could be in this category. His Entrance Greats Scan is good but most of them (Basic 4, WM 26 TRU Exclusive, Elite 3) are terrible. Best overall figure this year?
SDCC Undertaker--but it is hard to pick a single one. Mattel has done an exceptional job with numerous figures: Mysterio, HHH, Mark Henry, and Sheamus come to mind.
The only reason I couldn't give Mattel a higher grade is due to HBK's figs. However, the company has clearly set a new standard in wrestling figs.

A- Where have they exceeded your expectations? The accessories that are included in the elite/legends line.
Where is there room for improvement? Easily, Quality control. Too many figures with smudges, and elites whose legs cant move.
What earned them extra credit points? The fact that unlike Jakks, they are willing to create brand new molds to make the figure perfect, even if that mold may only be used for one figure ever. No hooliganz in jean shorts here. And they are able to make almost every person in scale with one another.
What did they do to lose points? Quality control and pricing. Like I said previously, too many paint smudges and articulation problems. And I know some people dont mind the price for great figures, but $15/$20 dollars a piece can add up quickly. And figures like elite 4 jericho and elite 6 batista that dont come with anything except for a mic/glasses.
Best head scan of the year? Entrance Greats Taker
Worst head scan of the year? Both of swaggers scans. Neither look anything like him, and its disappointing.
[/b]Best overall figure this year?[/b] Either Elite Kane or Elite Morrison. As a plain old figure, kane wins. Its just a perfect figure. The headscan is one of the best out there, and every thing is in scale. Only reason Im hesitant to list it as the best is because its a very simplistic figure. His attire is very plain. Thats why I'd have to say elite 4 morrison is tied. The scan could be a tad better, but every other part fits the figure perfectly. Not to mention the ridiculously detailed coat that he happens to come with.

Where have they exceeded your expectations? Legends Series are awesome
Where is there room for improvement? Make more body types and do better paintjobs
What earned them extra credit points? Legend series Demolition..Like them very much!
What did they do to lose points? Where's the Hulkster in Legend series? He make WWe famous and its history..dont forget that.
Best head scan of the year? Elite Kane
Worst head scan of the year? Basic and Elites Jack Swaggers
Best overall figure this year? Ax and Smash of Demolition "A"

B. I grade hard because I know Mattel can do better. I don't want them to breeze through the rest of their contract with all these A's Where have they exceeded your expectations? The accuracy and detail in the attires and the scaling. Where is there room for improvement? The detail in the hair. I feel like this is one area where Jakks is better than Mattel at. Another thing is bulking up some of the body types where they are needed (i.e. Mr. Perfect and Ezekiel Jackson). What earned them extra credit points? Giving us a large selection of figures. I don't know the exact number, but there has been a crazy amount of figures produced this last year. Also, I love the accessories the Elites come with. What did they do to lose points? Pretty much the same as the room for improvement section. Best head scan of the year? It's difficult to choose just one, but my pick is Kamala. The head scan is as close to perfect as can be! Followed closely by Randy Orton. Worst head scan of the year? Jack Swagger (both). Just cause he was one of the top stars at the time. You'd think he'd get a better than average head scan. Best overall figure this year? Elite Randy Orton. Even though I don't own it, that is one darn good figure. Mattel really gave me back my passion to collect again. I stopped collecting completely during the final months of the Jakks era and never thought I'd collect again (except for the occasional figure here and there). But here I am one year later with over 20 figures to my name. Here's to another great year of figure collecting!
