WWE Superstars: Brie Bella w/Nikki Bella def. Tamina
Preliminary Dark Match: Seth Rollins def. Yoshi Tatsu
We are welcomed to Raw by resident announcers Michael Cole and Jerry 'The King' Lawler; however, before they could do much else than welcome us to the longest running weekly episodic show in television history as the camera cuts to former announcer CM Punk in the middle of the ring. He begins by saying how, last week on Raw, he said he'd return to in-ring action at the Royal Rumble and win the match itself. He says he did this because he's straight edge and that means that he's better than everyone else in this arena, and in the entire world. This gets a lot of heat except from the odd adult indy fans in the crowd.
Before CM Punk can continue, however, the chime for the Anonymous General Manager goes off and Michael Cole steps up to a massive amount of grimace and despair. The GM says that he's grateful for CM Punk winning the Royal Rumble match because he's a Raw superstar and any Raw superstar winning it is a huge plus in his books. However, he says that CM Punk shouldn't be so cocky as tonight he's teaming with the man he may face at Wrestlemania, WWE Champion The Miz against John Morrison and John Cena! This gets a massive reaction from the crowd as they seem delighted with the blockbuster main event match. CM Punk just stares into the heavens in disgust at this news.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-We are welcomed back to Raw by Michael Cole who begins to hype up some of the matches we'll be seeing on tonight's television broadcast. He says how we're going to see a massive #1 contender's match for the WWE Tag Team Championships between Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty and The Usos, a fantastic divas match-up with Natalya and Melina taking on Alicia Fox and Maryse and, up next, we're going to see Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith continue their heated feud with a match!
Tyson Kidd w/Jackson Andrews vs. David Hart Smith
The match started with Tyson Kidd acting cocky and threatening David Hart Smith with Jackson Andrews. The sheer presence of Jackson Andrews seemed to distract David Hart Smith as he keep having to watch his back while this match ran its course. During the heat of the match Tyson Kidd rolled out of the ring and David Hart Smith followed him. Kidd rammed Smith's arm into the steel ring post then rolled back into the ring. Kidd distracted the referee by pretending to undo the turnbuckle while Jackson Andrews picked Smith up and hit him with a chokeslam. He then rolled him back into the ring and Kidd picked up the three count and the victory.
Winner: Tyson Kidd w/Jackson AndrewsThe assault didn't continue here, however, as Jackson Andrews used his large figure to hop over the top rope and he then preceded to pick up Smith and nail him with yet another Chokeslam. Kidd then locked in the Sharpshooter on the bruised and battered Smith and only let go of the hold once Smith had tapped out. Kidd and Andrews walked to the back as EMTs came out to help Smith.
Ted DiBiase theme music then hits and him and Maryse strut down to the ring with frowns on their faces. As they're walking down the pair of them shout at the crowd telling them to shut up and that they suck. DiBiase picks up a microphone in the ring and begins to talk about how, last night, he was cheated out of the United States championship by that penniless scumbag Daniel Bryan. He says he deserves another title shot at Elimination Chamber, Maryse seemingly repeats this in french before the Anonymous General Manager's tone goes off.
Cole starts to say that the General Manager thinks DiBiase is right. He should get another title shot, but he needs to earn the right to face Daniel Bryan. So, tonight, we're going to name a number one contender for Elimination Chamber by the way of a ten man over the top rope battle royal! The crowd cheers at the sound of a battle royal as DiBiase and Maryse seemed to have mixed emotions on the matter.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-
Divas Champion Natalya and Melina vs. Alicia Fox and Maryse w/Ted DiBiaseNatalya comes out to a huge pop and starts this off against former champion Alicia Fox. Alicia takes the advantage after hitting a kick to the midsection followed up by a clothesline. She then whips her into the corner and tags in her partner, Maryse. Maryse attempts to intimidate Natalya powerful performances by suplexing Natalya but she can hardly lift her off her feet. Natalya just smiles and hits Maryse with a double hammer fist. Natalya takes control of this match-up as she does what Maryse couldn't do and does her signature squatting suplex.
Melina is on the apron jumping up and down wanting to get tagged into this match. Natalya doesn't tag her in and continues to beat down on Maryse, Melina seemed annoyed that she isn't tagged in. Maryse is dragged over to the corner by Natalya and she looks set to tag Melina but Melina superkicks her in the face and Natalya is led out cold on the floor. Everyone in the arena, including the opponents, looked shocked as Melina turns her back on Natalya. Maryse then rolls Natalya up for the three count and picks up a huge victory for her team.
Winners: Alicia Fox and Maryse w/Ted DiBiase
Two video packages in one are played. One highlights how, next week on Raw, qualifying matches begin for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match. And another that highlights how brutal and devastating the event itself actually is. This package includes highlights from last year's inaugural event. It mainly focuses on world championship wins from Batista, Chris Jericho and John Cena.
Josh Mathews is backstage with the man who challenged The Miz for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, John Morrison. He asks Morrison how it feels to have come so close to achieving his boyhood dream but have fallen at the final hurdle. Morrison says that it was a great honour to have such a match in front of the WWE Universe and his only disappointment was not winning the WWE Championship. He blames Alex Riley and calls The Miz a coward. But, next week on Raw, he's going to qualify for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match and subsequently capture the WWE Championship!
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-Another video package plays, this one highlights the happenings of the 2011 Royal Rumble, mostly incorporating Edge's world title defence, The Miz beating John Morrison, John Cena beating Wade Barrett to disband Nexus and, of course, CM Punk coming out on top in the thirty man Royal Rumble match.
Ten man over the top rope Battle Royal for number one contendership for the United States championship at Elimination Chamber; participants:
Ted DiBiase, Heath Slater, David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Mark Henry, Primo, R-Truth, William Regal, Darren Young and Zack Ryder
All the participants of the ten man battle royal are in the ring. Justin Roberts begins to explain the rules of the Battle Royal and emphasises that the winner will face Daniel Bryan for the United States championship at Elimination Chamber. Daniel Bryan is sitting at ringside with his United States championship and the Bella twins in tow.
The match starts with all the heel competitors attacking Mark Henry straight away, only for all the face competitors to help Henry out and get them off of him. The first elimination comes when
Primo gets caught in midair from a flying crossbody by Mark Henry who hits a World's Strongest Slam over the top rope and puts Primo into extreme pain.
Zack Ryder irish whips Justin Gabriel into the turnbuckle and attempts to rile up the crowd with backhand slaps on Gabriel's chest shouting 'woo' in a Ric Flair esque move; however, the crowd hardly reacts to this at all and, if anything, there was more laughs at Ryder than cheers or boos.
Zack Ryder attempted to run at Gabriel but he jumped up and grabbed Ryder in a headscissors, flinging him out of the ring in the process.
Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, who have continued on from Nexus with a tag team, then eliminated former pal
Darren Young with a double team move. The pair had Young in the corner and were simply just kicking him repeatedly before deciding to lift him up to the top rope roster and, in tandem, hold him between eachother's shoulder before throwing out of the ring.
Slater and Gabriel then both set their sights upon eliminating the giant Mark Henry. However, Henry came out of this coming together a lot better than the crusierweight duo as he managed to eliminate
Heath Slater. The pair were double teaming Henry and Gabriel whipped him into the ropes and then slingshot Slater towards him. They weren't expecting Henry to recover so quickly as he simply ducked and flung Slater out of the ring via his legs.
We then had a double elimination in quick succession as David Otunga and Ted DiBiase capitalised on Henry's weakened state and together they forced
Mark Henry over the top rope. However, out of nowhere, Otunga's former NXT pro, R-Truth clotheslined
David Otunga over the ropes. Otunga, on the outside of the ring, screamed that he was cheated out of this.
William Regal for the most part of this match was just working away on people with the odd kick and submission manoeuvre but when the number of participants started to deteriorate he knew he was in trouble. He grabbed R-Truth's arms and pulled him onto the top rope with himself, he was attempting to superplex R-Truth out of the ring but R-Truth gained consciousness and hit
William Regal with an Enzuirigi Kick that sent him flying out of the ring.
R-Truth didn't have enough time to get off of the turnbuckle as Justin Gabriel did what Regal couldn't do and superplexed
R-Truth out of the ring. Gabriel, however, turned right around into a Dream Street from DiBiase who then preceded to pick up
Justin Gabriel and throw him out of the ring to win the Battle Royal and earn the chance to face Daniel Bryan at Elimination Chamber.
Winner: Ted DiBiase w/Maryse
Daniel Bryan, at ringside, held the United States championship up high to taunt DiBiase as we faded to a commercial break.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-We're backstage and the camera is focused on former Nexus leader Wade Barrett. He's seen walking around pretty clueless without The Nexus and nobody will talk to him. He bumps into David Otunga while on his way to his dressing room and almost knocks him over. Otunga holds his hands up in disgust wanting an apology but Barrett just ignores him and keeps going.
Sheamus is in the ring and he begins to cut a promo on how he may not have beaten John Morrison, he may not have won the Royal Rumble, he may not be the WWE Champion but he is the King of the Ring, the first ever Irish born WWE Champion, a two time WWE Champion and is the man who ended Triple H's illustrious career and he's going to become a three time WWE Champion at Elimination Chamber.
Triple H's music then hits and the crowd goes wild for the return of the game but it turns out it's a hoax from Sheamus who stands in the ring laughing at and mocking the gullible crowd. As Sheamus continues mocking the crowd we're taken to a commercial break.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler recap the whole night so far, talk about how what Sheamus just did was despicable, hype our massive tag team main event involving CM Punk, WWE Champion The Miz, John Morrison and John Cena. They then tell us that the number one contender's match for the WWE Tag Team championships between Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris and The Uso twins is up right now.
Number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships: Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris vs. The Usos
The match was a good tag team match as Harris started the match off in dominant fashion by working Jey Uso over on the mat with submissions before Jey Uso managed to get to his feet, hit Harris with a midsection kick and attempt to run and make the tag to his brother, Jimmy Uso. Before he could tag him in Harris managed to grab him and hit a strong spinebuster that grabbed a two count. He then whipped him into the corner and tagged in McGilllicutty.
McGillicutty went straight for his signature swinging neckbreaker, The McGillicuttor, but Jey Uso managed to avoid it. He waited for McGillicutty to get up before hitting a regular neckbreaker of his own. He dragged McGillicutty over to his team's corner, began to hit kicks on McGillicutty and tagged in his brother, Jimmy Uso. Then, in a shocking turn of events, David Otunga began to walk down to the ring. Harris didn't look happy about this and began chase off Otunga. This left a distracted McGillicutty on his own as Jimmy Uso hit a superkick, followed up by a superfly splash for a three count.
Winners: The Usos
Josh Mathews is backstage and he runs into Randy Orton. Josh asks him what he's going through right now with not being the WWE Champion, not winning the Royal Rumble and seemingly having no current direction. Before Orton can answer, however, Zack Ryder comes out of nowhere and begins referring to Orton as dude and tells him it doesn't matter if you're not champion when you can ride with the Zack Attack. Orton tells Ryder to shut up, slaps him and walks off. Ryder is seen clutching his cheek in pain as we fade to commercial.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-
Randy Orton vs. Vladimir Kozlov w/Santino Marella and TaminaVladimir Kozlov looked less than pleased to be facing the WWE's apex predator, Randy Orton, in a one on one match. Santino Marella and Tamina at ringside also seemed to be in awe of the viper's presence. Kozlov had no real chance from the get-go as Orton grappled his way into control before hitting the scoop-slam IEDDT combination and going to 'that place only Orton goes'. Out of nowhere though Wade Barrett came into the ring and was about to deliver a Wastelands to Orton before he elbowed his way out and hit the same combination on Barrett. This time, though, Orton hit the RKO and climbed the turnbuckle doing his legend killer pose while looking over the lifeless body of Wade Barrett.
Winner: Randy Orton via disqualificationAlex Riley and The Miz are in The Miz's dressing room. Riley asks The Miz if he's worried about CM Punk turning on him in their tag team match tonight. The Miz does his signature 'Really? Really? Really?' at Riley. He then explains that he doesn't need to watch his back for two reason: one because he's the WWE Champion and the other because he's The Miz and he's awe- before he can continue, however, John Cena walks past. He winks at The Miz and tells him to watch his back. The Miz looks worried about this confrontation.
The announcers, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler, begin to hype up the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View. They talk about how we're going to see Daniel Bryan and Ted DiBiase slug it out for the United States championship, The Usos challenge Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov for the WWE Tag Team championships and a massive match for the WWE Championship with a six man Elimination Chamber match. The camera then cuts to the ring as our main event begins.
CM Punk and WWE Champion The Miz w/Alex Riley vs. John Cena and John Morrison
CM Punk and John Morrison start this match off and they're back and forth with arm drags, straight-up grappling and submission holds. CM Punk get an opening and takes it with both hands as he hits a running DDT on the former number one contender. Then when Morrison gets up he continues to hit strong punches to the head and forces him onto the floor by the turnbuckle. He then starts stamping on Morrison in the corner.
Morrison then rolls out of the way of a knee and CM Punk is left clutching his knee in pain. This gives Morrison the opportunity to make a hot tag to Cena. Cena comes flying out of the blocks but both he and CM Punk stop and just stare each other down shoulder to shoulder. Cena is the one who takes advantage of this momentary collapse and pulls CM Punk up for an Attitude Adjustment but CM Punk manages to roll off of Cena's shoulders and make the tag to an unwilling Miz.
Miz seems pretty unhappy to be in the ring with Cena as Cena just laughs and tell Miz to bring it. Miz comes flying at Cena and the pair begin to start exchanging right and left hands. Miz gets the advantage when he drags Cena into a side headlock after a knee to the midsection. He drags Cena onto the ropes and goes for his signature rope jump but Cena ducks out of the way an Miz flies out of the ring and onto the floor. Cena drags Miz back into the ring and makes the tag to Morrison.
Morrison goes straight for Starship Pain and hits it. CM Punk doesn't bother breaking up the pin and flanks John Cena round the side of the ring. Morrison picks up the massive victory for him and his team as the referee count three following Morrison's Starship Pain.
Winners: John Cena and John Morrison
After the match CM Punk sneaked round the back of Cena and pulled his legs, he smashed his face on the apron. CM Punk then connected with a huge GTS on John Cena. He then rolled in the ring, presumably to attempt to give John Morrison the same fate but Morrison hit a flying chuck and knocked CM Punk back out of the ring. But, Morrison had forgotten about The Miz who came up behind Morrison and hit a huge Skull Crushing Finale. The Miz and Alex Riley pose with the WWE Championship as Raw comes to an end
