Why does the IWC hate John Cena

Do I hate him? No. I respect the man he worked hard just like any other wrestler (mainly) has to get in the position they are in today. I more recently than in the past have started to enjoy his work a little more. However, there are certain things about him that get annoying. For example, some of those promos were he "tries" keyword "tries" to be funny and it just doesn't work.

corny, always involved in bad storylines, stale, repetitive, bad wrestling
that's just off the top of my head.

Because a lot of people think they're cool for hating what's popular. This isn't something limited to John Cena.

I believe that there are a few reasons as to why people dislike him so much. Some of it is on him, but there is some blame on the WWEs part as well...
1) Overpushed - Since 2005, the WWE has been giving him a huge push similar to Hulk Hogans. He is pushed as unstopable. Sure, it worked in the 80's when the internet and spoilers wern't available and people believed in Hogan. Today, nobody wants to see another Hulk Hogan because it simply does not work anymore. W/ spoilers and the internet, fans want something more realistic, and watching the same thing over and over(Cena making the over-used comeback routine) gets fans annoyed. When Cena goes into a feud, there is a 99% chance hes going to finish it as the winner and dominate his opponent(look at the Nexus angle as the latest example). Not even Austin or Rock were pushed like he is.
2) Limited move set/lack of in-ring skill - Now I'm not talking about the "5 moves of death" because EVERY main eventer, past and current, have had their signature moves that they use in every match. What I'm talking about is Cena's limited ability to put on entertaining matches. Unless hes in the ring w/ someone like HBK, Edge, or Angle, he is just plain bad in the ring. I can't remember the last time that Cena kept me interested in one of his matches. In their primes, guys like Bret Hart, HBK, Taker, Rock, Austin, HHH, etc... were all able to build a match and tell stories in the ring. Cena just simply can't do that. Back in 2002 and 2003, he showed that he had the potential to be good in the ring, but since 2005, the WWE has limited his move set seriously and that in turn has hurt his development in the ring and his matches as a whole.
3) Predictable - Everyone who has watched wrestling for the last 5 years knows that Cena's matches are VERY predicatable. Dominates the begining, gets the tar beat out of him for about 5-10 minutes, then makes his corny comeback and wins w/ his same 5 moves and no-sells at the end. Though I blame this more on the WWE than Cena because they have limited him in the ring and want him to follow the same formula to make the kiddies happy.

He spilled Punk's soda. Isn't that reason enough?

I dislike him as a wrestler. But he does a lot outside of wrestling that has me give my respect towards him.

This always makes me laugh. You mean to say this is never the case? If you were a frequent on this forum four years ago, even three years ago, you would have seen this place get clogged with utter bulls*** from people who 'hated' John Cena so bad they wanted him to die. As I've said before, nobody can truly hold that amount of hatred for a person playing a character in WWE. If they do, they need a slap. It's kind of like how you have that stupid Orlando Jordan avatar, and how you had a sig to go along with it. You did it just to go against the grain and wind some people up. More and more seats were occupied on the Cena-hate bandwagon however, because people felt ridiculed for liking him.

There was a thread the other day stating that Cena should be a heel and I think that's what most people want. Not just to please the IWC, but to freshen him up. I mean I was hoping for him to disappear for a while HHH style but obviously not.
The WWE doesn't equal John Cena. He doesn't need to be in the main event of every PPV, he needs to take a step back and get some guys over, like with Dolph. Another stellar match or two and Dolph is concrete main event.

The first half of your post pretty much sums up why i dont like him. I dont hate him, I'm just so sick of him, and have been since 2007.

The reason I hate John Cena (the character) is because he can be shot in the heart and head 5 times and still get up and win the match. It's terribly unrealistic and gets boring after the 37294865 time it's done. And i don't hate Cena because it's the "popular" thing to do.

I don't hate John Cena the real man, I hate his character because it doesn't even make sense. His character has no premise. Have they ever explained why he is invincible? It seems to me like he's just some dude in jean shorts! Why can he take so much punishment and just snap back? The UNDERTAKER loses more matches than John Cena and Undertaker's character is that he has superpowers! I just want his character to make sense. And I wish he'd stop being so cheesy in his promos. Don't condescend me and tell me that it's my right to boo or cheer and that's what makes the WWE Universe so great......

Because he is going to squash Punk in a feud that had many opportunities at being good but failed.

If this were 1991, the thread would be titled "Why does WF hate Hulk Hogan" and everyone would pretty much be giving the same reasons. The only difference is that Hogan was never booed, wrestling was still "real" and it wasn't on as often. Same circumstances (Internet, weekly shows) and we would "all" hate Hogan.
I totally understand why people don't like Cena. It's all good. I just don't understand the two arguments of "He can't sell" and "He can't wrestle." We all have seen Cena do chain wrestling, because that seems to be part of many people's criteria of wrestling ability, which is what puts the likes of Danielson, Regal and Angle at the top of the list. Also, he's wrestled against and adapted to every single style in the WWE. Shawn Michael's catch-as-catch-can, HHH's technical brawler style, Kurt's amateur style, Khali's slow style, Lashley's explosive style etc.
I don't think WWE wants John to be putting on wrestling clinics in the ring every time. Cena NEEDS to be the guy that, when you think he's down and out, he springs back up and gives kids that slight vision of hope, and ultimately comes out on top. He's that inspiration.
And just because he lept up from one DDT on the floor (where he was dragged, lifelessly into the ring) doesn't mean he can't sell. People always argue that his matches are boring because he gets beat up the entire match. What the hell is he doing the entire match then? Taking every shot and just standing there? No. He's selling.
I know there will never be an ultimate consensus in regards to Cena, but I just wish people would try to make one. I have. And I'm not even a fan of Cena at all. I just don't see why no one ever tries to see both sides of the story.

Super Cena. Thats why. Hes proved that he can actually wrestle, its just hes booked/written to be Super Cena. I have nothing but respect for him, hes worked his ass off to get where he is, and is a tremendous role model. I just hate Super Cena.

I'm tired of the tired ol' "he can't wrestle" crap. It's the way he's booked. That's why everyone hates him. I'm tired of it too. I really wanted him to turn heel. But I'll say, Cena will turn heel when he grants less Make-A-Wish wishes, sells less merchandise, and gets booed by everybody. Give it a few years, once the Cenation grows up a bit.
