Man, what an awesome show tonight. Lots of great fights all around. I am SO glad the main event wasn't even close to being boring as I had originally thought it was going to be. It was a ing war from start to finish. I loved it. It was awesome. Great performances by both fighters in that one. Frankie Edgar still has NOT defeated Gray Maynard. Gray still has one up on him and he came SO friggin' close in the 1st to ending it. I thought Frankie was cooked, but man, he proved what a tough son of a b*tch he is and not only hung in there, but fought his ass off for the remaining rounds. I think that'll be fight of the year. I know it's early, but it'll take one hell of a fight to top that one. I'd say to be completely fair for all parties involved, there MUST be a rematch between Edgar & Maynard to decide a winner, so that Pettis can get his fight in. But who's to say that if Edgar & Maynard fight again that this won't happen again?? It's certainly possible, you never know. Bottom line, just an awesome night of fights all around. |

Holy moly - that fight was friggin awesome... as someone said, like a Rocky movie. It'll be really interesting to see the judge's score-cards... I think Edgar clearly won the 2nd and 4th rounds, so it all depended on how people scored the 1st round (ie. 10-9, 10-8, or even 10-7) and the 3rd and 5th rounds - I had it: Round 1: Maynard (clearly a 10-8) Round 2: Edgar Round 3: Maynard Round 4: Edgar Round 5: Edgar ...making it a 47-47 draw. The 5th round was incredibly close though - maybe it should have been a 10-10 round, but even-rounds are frowned upon. Frankie seemed really upset in the dressing room afterwards but I think he's gained a lot of fans tonight... I'd love an immediate rematch. Oh - and as a huge Chris Leben fan, all I have to say is... dayam!  |
