I figured since some people consider street racing, drifting, and the like, a sport, this could go here. NASCAR is a sport as well, and that's on here, so this can definitely go here for that reason.
How many got this game? It only took forever to release. 5 years since Gran Turismo 4, and to be totally honest, I don't remember GT4 being released. Perhaps because I didn't have a PS2 - mine was stolen 4 months before it released - and I wasn't paying particular attention to anything gaming at that point, except the Genesis that I traded for on here. LoL. Anyways, not counting the PSP edition of Gran Turismo - which released last year - it took 5 years, almost 6 in between cycles. It was originally supposed to be released in March 2010, but was delayed for what became almost 8 months with the November 2 release date. It was then revealed that it would miss the November 2 release date, because Sony wanted to make sure the game launched after the PS3's 3.50 firmware update was released, "to combat privacy." It finally released on November 24 in North America and Europe, and the very next day in Japan and Australia.
The game features 1,031 total cars. I went through the Dealership in the My GT area, and there are 199 new cars, which leaves 832 cars unaccounted for. There is a Used Car Dealership area, but I doubt there are those 832 "used" cars on this game.
The NASCAR feature is the biggest reason I wanted this game. NASCAR has been a staple of my family in all of my 24 years, even longer before I was born. So it was naturally passed down through the traits of my family, that I am a NASCAR fan. And I was one pretty angry person when I read that EA just up and s**tcanned the NASCAR line, yet they continue to keep lines like FIFA Soccer. GAY! Gran Turismo 5 gives me that little taste of NASCAR gameplay, that little bit to hold me over until February 2011 when the Eutechnyx-developed NASCAR The Game 2011 releases in stores. [See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASCAR_The_Game:_2011 for more information]. Gran Turismo 5 features 11 drivers, and just 2 tracks that NASCAR runs each season. However, you can take the NASCAR cars and run them on any of the other 69 different courses. So that's fun.
Anyways, just use this thread to discuss the awesome that is Gran Turismo 5.
