Shouldn't be a deal breaker. What is it with people and watching films with subtitles? most people are lazy to a point where they don't even want to read something, it's kinda sad since some of the greatest movies are foreign. a lot of these movies i would love to see but i find reading the subtitles is very distracting to the film for me i dont read that fast and sometimes double what i read i end up seeing none of the movie i cant even watch a bootleg that has spanish subtitles cuz i find i start looking at them

I mean a good 50% of my collection is foreign stuff, but I grew up watching a decent number of French and Italian films plus a load of anime so it's almost second nature for me to see subtitles. Talking to a few of my friends who've said exactly the same thing (as in "I get too distracted by subtitles"), I sort of understand what they mean. I mean particularly when there's a lot of action or quick cuts on screen, it is kind of arduous to juggle the reading and watching at the same time. Heck, even now I occasionally find myself rewinding just because I haven't taken in what I've read. Saying that, I find France, Korea, Japan and now Spain to be absolute gold mines for good films. So I'd say it is definitely worth trying to get into the habit of reading subtitles.

The Shining, actually. If you want a crazy lunatic in the middle of nowhere with only his wife and kid with him, watch that film. Maybe not a "serial killer" but its damn good movie of a man becoming an insane lunatic

If you can't grasp watching a film with subtitles you're missing out on some amazing films and I genuinely feel bad for you.

Even when I watch a movie in English, I have to turn on the subtitles in case I miss some un/misheard dialogue.
When it comes to foreign movies, most of the time subtitles are 10000000x better than the English dubs.

Man Bites Dog looks fantastic! I have to see that now. I didn't care for it. Maybe I would like it more now, but around 12 years ago when I saw it, I wasn't impressed. I have an Asian film called Our Town. I haven't watched it yet, but it's about a crime fiction writer who commits a copycat murder of an at large serial killer, then decides to find find this killer himself. Sounds messed up, right up my alley. I would also recommend (repeating many already mentioned): Psycho (the original) Silence of the Lambs American Psycho Natural Born Killers Kalifornia Ichi the Killer Seven Heathers

As a big mockumentary fan, i'm really interested to see it. I don't see why people are so turned off by subtitles anyway. I see no problem with them.
