That's great news for Chuck, an executive position with the company, that can only be good for the expansion of the UFC and MMA in general...great stuff, thanks for posting.

I'm sure he wanted to have one more fight, but he and Dana sat down and Dana convinced him it wouldn't be a good idea. It's kinda sad to see him go out on a pretty severe losing streak...I mean, most of his last losses were vicious knock-outs...
Oh well, he is a legend in MMA and I am glad he's done. He's got nothing more to prove.

I'm happy and sad at this news. I'm sad to see my favorite fighter, the man responsible for getting my into the sport retire, hurts. It was sucky to watch him today choking back tears at the podium saying he was done. Can see that he doesn't want to give it up.
But I'm happy to see him retire because he's one of the all time greats, and built the sport along ith Dana White. If it wasn't for Chuck/Tito's first fight gaining a lot of hype, to his role in TUF, and then his legendary run beginning after TUF, who knows where the sport would be. He's got absolutely nothing left to prove. He went out in his last fight in the best shape I've ever seen him, and did the best he's done since the Wanderlei fight. He went down in the end, but he went out swinging, in the main event in a venue they had never been before.
I'm happy to see him step out of the Octagon so he doesn't put his body through any more fights, but it sucks to see him leave and realize I'll never see that "Liddell vs. ..." on the headline anymore.

I'm glad, it's good for him. He was starting to get punch drunk, listen to him from 03 to now and you can tell all those KO's had their affect. However I wish he would of retired on a win, maybe they should of given him Ortiz as a last fight.

Chuck's one of my favorite fighters and it's be sad watching his last few fights. He was one of the first guys I got into when I first started watching the UFC and he is not the fighter he was then.

However I wish he would of retired on a win, maybe they should of given him Ortiz as a last fight. Yeah, I'm really pleased Chuck's called it a day BUT one more fight with Tito would have been the icing on the cake... if he'd won, it would have been a good way to go out - and if he lost, it would have convinced him that he doesn't have it any more. You just know that this decision must be killing him...

It's a shame that he has retired even though it's the fight move!

definitely one of the most renowned fighters and was there for the 'big boom' of the business. a legend in his own right, i agree with others who said they're happy that he hung it up before affecting his legacy.
and that coked out gif of him is really funny, but at the same time quite disturbing.
