Randy Couture isn't retiring after all.
Couture and Lyoto Machida have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 129 on April 30 in Toronto, MMA Fighting has learned from sources close to the fight. Couture also confirmed the fight when asked by MMA Fighting at UFC 125 on Saturday night.
The event will be the UFC's first in Toronto and will be held at the Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays.

I actually called that fight earlier today. Wasn't expecting it to be in Toronto though.

Sweet. I wonder if the winner will get a title shot (...even though Machida "lost" to Rampage)? It's a win/win - either Randy in his last fight, going for the title ("'yo Adrian!") or Machida in a rubber-match with Shogun (...or a rematch against Rashad).

This is going to be awesome. Hopefully Couture can pick up a win in this fight because I want him to fight for the title.

for the sake of Couture having a "story book ending" to his MMA career I hope he wins this one. It will suck if he does for Machida, because that will be 3 losses in a row. How weird would that be...a guy nobody could even touch, gets beat 3 times in a row.
should be an interesting fight. I'm really interested to see how they match-up stylistically.

Wow, with this and the other rumored fights, this event is really gonna be stacked. Glad I'll be going.

Machida has to win this, and win big!

this is going to be a technically superb matchup. honestly, couldn't be a better fight for couture to go out on.
i'm hoping for him to pull the win, but instinct says machida.

I'm officially torn on this. I want to see Randy go out with a win, but I don't wana see Lyoto cut for another loss if Randy were to win.

if Machida loses this no WAY does the UFC cut him.....he would probably get another chance but on the prelims or something...he is still a top 5 LHW...you don't cut a top 5 LHW and let him go to SF.

true. But Dana is smarter than to cut fighters that have any type of earning potential....hell, Tito hasn't won a fight since like 2006? He is still there though because people still want to see him fight. Love him or hate him, he knows how to sell himself as though he is still a top LHW.

i agree with user sandy, there is no way that the ufc would cut machida if he were to lose to couture, as 1) he would still be one of the top fighters in the world, and was undefeated until his past two losses. that in itself is impressive enough for him to retain his spot. 2) the couture fight if anything will only make him a larger name - dana would be a fool to give away a fighter with as much credibility and marketability as machida. he is a 'ufc name'.

Wait, isn't Randy slated to start shooting The Expendables II in April? Or is it May? Either way, I hope this fight doesn't happen. Randy getting tooled by Machida would be a terrible way for him to go. I love Randy, but I don't think he's beating Machida.

mmm I don't know. I wouldn't count out Randy. He says he thinks he could figure out the puzzle that is Machida...and I believe him. The mystique of Machida is gone (a little)...I think fighters are going to go into fights with him a bit different from now on. I could see Couture hanging in there with Machida. The thing that worries me is when I get flashbacks of the two times Brandon Vera hurt Randy and it makes me think of what a "Machida Explosion" would do to Couture. We have seen Machida kind of hang back the first round and then after that he picks it up and waits for his moment to explode on an opponent. I think he could hurt Randy pretty bad if he were to fight a bit more aggressively. This is a really interesting fight. I can't wait.
...the thing I would not want to see though is Randy fight Shogun.
so if Randy wins this...and Rashad wins against Shogun then I say f*** it, give Couture a title fight.
but if Shogun rapes Rashad like I expect him to, no way would I want to see Randys last fight against him. Shogun/Randy would not be pretty at all.

Very interesting matchup, despite me thinking Randy had hung 'em up for good...no matter though, should be a great fight, with Machida's elusiveness versus Couture's clinches/dirty boxing being something I'm torn on...
