President Obama has chosen ex-JP Morgan exec and Commerce Sec William Daley to be his Chief of Staff.
If the name sounds familiar, he is the brother of Richard Daley, mayor of Chicago.

he is the brother of Richard Daley, mayor of Chicago. Whom Rahm Emanuel will likely be replacing as Mayor. I'd like to see Obama not bring in people who are so closely tied with banks.

No one, except me, was surprised by that pick. Me? Like the others said, I wish he would have chosen anyone that didn't have JP Morgan on his resume.

Im from Chicago and will not be voting for Rham, nor for Daley...... I seriously hope Rham doesnt win, he's not a Chicagoan, he didnt meet the requirements to qualify for a home tax benefit meaning he hasnt lived here for a while. So how he can run for mayor of a city of which he does not reside is a mind F to me. Also I thought it was cool Alexi (former Obama Aide) wanted office and was endorsed by Obama in commercials (as is Rham) and yet Alexi lost. Just goes to show how far Obama's endorsement goes in his "home" state. Now on a related subject. I think it is odd Daley would be appointed. Illinois has a long history of corrupt politicians, Blago was busted for trying to sell Obamas Seat. Obama's nationality was questioned. Mayor Daley was under investigation by the feds. Rham's Chicago Residence is under question. All these issues in and around Chicago and Obama picks Daley? Doesnt that pretty much open the gates on more speculation? Makes me think Daley's appointment is a favor to the Mayor of Chicago.

I didn't take it as a repudiation of Obama.
I took Alexi's loss as a repudiation of Blago and Burris.
I know you can say well then why didn't Quinn lose, he was closest to Blago. Well people figured that Brady was insane and voted for the lesser of two evils. With Kirk, he wasn't all that bad in their eyes.
I'd vote for Braun for mayor. Really, I'd vote for anyone against Rahm.
