Sucks for Davis, as I had him winning before he got knocked the out. Vera's been on a pretty bad decline as of late, and got smothered in his fights with Silva and Jones.

Yeah, I think everybody saw those cuts coming. Sad about Davis though. He looked great until it ended. Was hoping he'd get another fight but I guess it wasn't in the cards.

Davis will win a fight in a small promotion and be brought back to fight on the Irish card if there is one this year.
Vera on the other hand will need to notch up a few fights. I would like to see him fight Jardine somewhere.

I wouldn't say that. He was winning the fight up until Stephens landed, and Stephens has some big power in that right hand. The best part about the KO (not that I endorse after-clear-unconsciousness shots) was Stephens' second shot. All he did was take three steps, stick that arm out, put on a THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAA face and fall. Stephens actually apologized to DellaGrotte and Davis after the fight about the second shot, and Mark said, "What are you sorry for? Good job." Better than Hendo's flying elbow on Bisping, that's for sure.

Personally i thought it was crap to do something like that. You see fighters who have the cop on to stop hitting another because they are out ( Nate vs Maia ) then you see people hitting extra even though it's obvious he was out.

I'm not endorsing after-KO shots by any means, I just found Stephens' reaction funny.

Yeah i don't blame him totally. I more so blame refs for not being closer. I remember seeing a video recently how George Sots won by Sub and let it go himself as the ref was the other side of the octagon.

It's amazing how far Vera has fallen - remember a few years ago when he easily beat Frank Mir and was a top HW prospect....?

Vera is talented, but too many people (including himself) believed too much of the hype.

Not surprised, but hope that Davis continues to fight, he can show that he's quite talented when he wants to.

I wish I could drop the usual "He'll do great in Strikeforce" line in application to Vera, but I see him getting his *** handed to him over there as well.

I wonder if Vera would have been better off staying at HW... he had great speed at HW and some good wins (his only losses were to Werdum and a decision to Tim Sylvia). Once he went to LHW, he looked too thin and quickly went downhill...

Once he went to LHW, he looked too thin and quickly went downhill... I could see him beating some of the middle guys at HW. Mir, Cro Cop, Big Country. But guys like JDS, Cain, and Lesnar(wouldn't be able to defend his wrestling) could take him I think.
