- The decision to turn Ken Shamrock heel, and name him the #1 Contender, was made shortly before the show began. There was still a lot of bickering among the writing staff, but when Shamrock's name came up, and coupled with the idea that Rocky will now be primarily feuding with Faarooq, everybody got on board. It helped that, all things considered, they were happy with the buyrate of the last PPV Shamrock lead, In Your House: D-Generation X, and feel that Austin-Shamrock is a higher profile match than HBK-Shamrock. - Dionicio Torres (Psychosis) signed a contract with the WWF this week, although he's not expected to debut right away. He was recently released from his WCW contract. At the moment, he was sent to Memphis, to work on his English while the writing team figures out a way to bring him in. - The reason Sergeant Slaughter, the WWF Commissioner, hasn't been on air the last few weeks is because Vince has been taking more of a presence as the authority in the WWF, on camera. - There has been some interest in bringing back "Sycho" Sid Eudy for a short term angle. Considering his history, there are definitely some in the locker room who are opposed, but the fact that he's always over cannot be avoided. - For whatever it's worth, the WWF has told the syndicated networks airing Shotgun Saturday Night that the show will be ending in two weeks. One could assume the WWF feels it is very close to a deal for a new cable show, or else it wouldn't outright pull the plug like this.
