Bed ridden with illness, decided to watch a bunch of Youtube videos of teams down the years which have been brilliant. Been focusing mainly on the 2000/2001 Roma team which won Serie A. You had a front line of Batistuta & Delvicchio with Totti just behind them, you had great defenders in that line up including Cafu & Walter Samuel. Shame Italian football isn't as great as it was.
Another team is the Manchester United Treble winning team of 1998/1999. World class goalkeeper in Peter Schmeichel, solid defence infront of him, the link up with Beckham/G. Neville down the right side of the pitch which created many goals, then comes my all time favourite strikeforce of Andy Cole & Dwight Yorke which had a fantastic understanding.
Obviously to make this thread worth-while, which are your favourite teams down the years?

As you mentioned the United side from 1998/99 is definately my favourite ever United team.
A lot of the national teams going into World Cup 1998 were memorable for me, I was obsessed with that game.

Newcastle under Sir Bobby, we were immense. Also under Keegan in his first reign. Apart from Newcastle, I'd have to say Man United's 1999 squad. Roy Keane as captain, Becks playing the best football of his career and Schmeichel still the best keeper in the world at this point. Giggs and Scholes not long into their careers, playing some unbelievable stuff. Strikers such as Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Teddy Sheringham. All of them were top class in their time, especially in 1999.

Borussia Dortmund, European Cup Winning Team 1997/1998. Dortmund have always been my second favourite team, because of this. I remember them knocking Man United out over two legs, and beating Juventus in the Final. That was the first real European Cup Final that I vividly remember. I'm going to watch Dortmund play this year at some point. Juventus of 1996-1999. This is when Juventus was literally the most feared Side in Europe. They were deadly, and on a different level to everyone else. They had a young Alessandro Del Piero, Zinidine Zidane at his best, Deschamps, Edgar Davids, Inzaghi, Di Livio, Montero, Perruzzi in Goal. Played at the Del Alpi, it's a such a shame, I watched them last night loose to Palermo. Nothing, nothing like they used to be. They were bigger than Madrid. The Old Lady is no more... There's other Sides like the famous Milan Side that had Van Basten, Rijkaard and Gullit, the mighty Ajax Side that won Europe, and even the Bayern Munich Team that to this day I can still name there full Squad, that had the likes of Elber, Jancker, Effenberg, Scholl, Basley, Kahn etc. But this Barcelona Side stands out a lot to me, the Centenary Shirt Year. I used to run home from School when I was younger and switch on Revista De Liga and watch this Team beat the likes of Real Betis, Deportivo La Coruna and Celta Vigo. That's when La Liga was good. This Barca team had Rivaldo, Kluivert, Luis Figo, Guardiola, a young Xavi learning his trade, Luis Enrique, Nadal, Reizeger, Hesp... it was a quality Side to watch. Have to take my hat off to the current Barca Side though. I'm not going to lie, but IMO they play the best football I have ever, ever seen. The League might be the weakest it's ever been, but that are playing a level of football right now that cannot be touched. I don't think it can improve anymore.

Harchester United. 2004/2005 Haha yes, loved Dream Team! Was well upset when they killed off Clyde. I'll say teams other than United: the Real team that knocked us out of the CL... was it 2003? Beckham's last season, when the Galacticos were in full swing. I was frustrated they beat us at the time but looking back I can see their class, Zidane was one of the greatest of all time IMO. The way they could play football was special. I have a very soft spot for Spurs of 2010... They were/are (Not as good atm it seems) always great to watch as a neutral, their 0-0 draw with Citeh on opening day was probably the best 0-0 I've ever seen, and they alwasy ship a few goals as well as scoring some. Argentina at the 2010 WC aswell, on paper they were amazing and when they got going they played well, shame they didn't keep up that form, had the best attack at the WC IMO. Great manager aswell.

Great manager aswell. Was quality seeing Argentina managed by Maradona. I remember watching there Opening Game with a load of Argentinians and Mexicans at our Hotel in South Africa that couldn't get Tickets to the Game. Was great. They didn't really get going until there last Group Game or so, and then they got knocked out to a Side that IMO were even better than them that World Cup, the Germans. That Germany Team came out of no where, nobody expected them to be half as good as what they were. If it wasn't for Barcelona (+Torres, Casillas and Ramos), they would of won that World Cup.

The Real Madrid title winning team of 2006/07. Wasn't the best Madrid team they've ever produced, but I thought they were great.
It was both Beckham's & Roberto Carlos' final season at Madrid. They looked to have faded out of the title race in January, then Capello brought back in Beckham (whom he dropped as he was leaving) and imo it was the inclusion of Beckham that spurned Madrid on to win that title that season. You had Casillas in goal, defence of Salgado/Ramos/Cannovaro/Carlos, 2 holding midfielders of Emerson & Maha Diarra with Beckham & Robinho on the flanks. Van Nistlerooy upfront with Raul just behind him.
I remember one specific game (can't quite remember they were against) they were 2-0 down and managed to turn it around and win 3-2 (Roberto Carlos with a 90th min winner), ever since then I have said Real Madrid are my 2nd team.

Bump.
Another Roma team and it's the current 2013/14 team.
De Sanctis Maicon-Benatia-Castan-Dodo Pjanic-de Rossi-Strootman Florenzi-Totti-Gervinho
I'd say that's probably Garcia's preferred XI, but even then you've got brilliant talent in Destro, Ljajic, Nianggolan & Bastos waiting in the wings. Love this team, been a total breath of fresh air this season.

Rangers 2002/2003 when I first watched football on the BBC.
Klos Ricksen Moore Amoruso Numan Cannigia Ferguson Arteta Lovenkrands De Boer Arveladze
Scotland team for the Euro 2008 qualifying as it's been the only decent Scottish team in my lifetime.
Gordon Hutton McManus Weir Naysmith Brown Fletcher Hartley Ferguson McCulloch McFadden
And finally Liverpool under Rafa. When I started watching the premier league for some reason I preferred Liverpool and this was roughly the team Rafa used when we came close in 09.
Reina Arbeloa Carragher Agger Aurelio Mascherano Alonso Kuyt Gerrard Bennayoun Torres

Wish you'd died. I'll add 2013 Bayern as they will go down as a team that were as good as anyone ever really imo. Got a big soft spot for Juve from the same year too.

94 man utd team. I think that team would win in Europe if it wasn't for the ruling of fielding 5 foreign players.
Schmeichel Parker Bruce Pallister Irwin Kanchelskis Keane Ince Giggs Hughes Cantona.
