Monday Night Raw - December 15th, 2008 A small video package is shown before Raw; recapping Armageddon. It mainly showed John Cena picking up a win from Chris Jericho, Batista defeating Randy Orton, and CM Punk advancing into the Intercontinental Championship tournament and being named the number one contender. "To Be Loved" by Papa Roach then hits and the Raw intro starts up Monday Night Raw for millions around the world. The cameras head into the Huntington Center of Toledo, Ohio with pyrotechnics exploding all over the stage and ramp as we are welcomed to the show by Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler! They introduce us into our night, and to our surprise; to open the show is "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels! "Sexy Boy" then hits the P.A system and out from the back comes the man who has been disappeared for 2 months, Shawn Michaels, himself! He does his regular entrance except it appears something is wrong when he enters the ring and his theme fades. He starts to speak about how he has been gone for these months because he was working out a business plan, that he is losing money and has finalized his deal so he can stay out of debt. He says that the WWE Universe won't like it - but he is officially owned by John "Bradshaw" Layfield. Cheers of boos come in as JBL's theme hits and out from a limo comes Shawn Michaels new "owner". He reaches the ring and announces that he can do anything he'd like with Michaels, because he is paying his bills now. When they finish speaking Michaels just says "I'm sorry." to the crowd and him and JBL head to the back as the cameras go to the announce table and speak about the situation before heading to commercial.
[Match 1:] CM Punk defeated Mike Knox via pinfall - William Regal was on commentary for this one along with Layla. He kept a close eye on Punk during the match. Punk started off the match with a lead on Knox, taking him down and then getting away from him with speed. Catching Knox in the mouth with a few kicks, until he was caught and put down for a few powerful moves from Knox. That is until he reversed a "Knox Out" and hit a GTS on Knox for the win. |

After the match Punk celebrated his win, and motioned to Regal a "belt pose". Then staring at him and saying "Next week, that belt is mine!" Regal and Layla El just stare at him in disgust as the cameras go backstage. A huge ovation goes over as the camera zooms out to John Cena backstage with his World Championship talking to a backstage worker before being approached by Chris Jericho. Jericho gets up in Cena's face and tells him that he is a "loser and that his win last night was a fluke." Cena just stares at Jericho's face and tells him he needs to face it, he lost. Jericho says "He's done with the kiddie games, he deserves one more match. And he's got it." He says that Stephanie McMahon granted him one final match, so Cena better get ready for that - and by the way, it's tonight. In the main event." Jericho just laughs and walks away as Cena smirks as the show goes to another quick commercial. When we return it is time for the second match of the night. Charlie Haas is standing in the ring, and they reveal his opponent as.. Kane![Match 2:] Kane defeated Charlie Haas via Disqualification - Kane and Charlie Haas had some pretty good chemistry here, though it would not seem like it. They go at it with a lock-up and Haas is pushed away and is met with a big boot to his face. He falls back on his butt and gets back up - like a "Weeble Wobble". Kane from then on smashes Haas around. That is until out from the back come Manu, Cody Rhodes, Deuce, and Randy Orton? They jump in and attack Kane and push Haas out of the ring. They put a beat down on Kane as the referee rings the bell. |
They put a lethal beatdown on Kane and Orton slides out of the ring and grabs a microphone from Lilian and gets back in the ring and stands infront of his "lackeys". He introduces this new "group" as 'The Legacy'. They are all 2nd or 3rd generation superstars. He runs them all down for us. Cody Rhodes; son of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. Manu; son of Afa from the Wild Samoans. Then there is Deuce, who is now introduced as Sim Snuka; son of Jimmy Snuka. Then there is Orton, himself; son of "Cowboy" Bob Orton. They are now a group, combined, a legacy and Batista better watch his back because Legacy is here! The cameras take a shot of them all standing together before the cameras go backstage to an interview session with JBL. He rambles on about how after tonight, he owns Shawn Michaels - and he's already made his first decision. Tonight, he will team up with "JBL, the wrestling god" to take on a team that has really been getting on his nerves lately - Batista and Rey Mysterio. That is all, then he walks away as the show goes to another break. During the break "Royal Rumble" is hyped. The show returns with a Raw Rebound showing the Eight-Diva Santa's Little Helper tag team match from Armageddon. It shows Maria, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James and Michelle McCool pick up the win over Maryse, Jillian Hall, Victoria and Natalya. When we return Beth Phoenix is entering the ring; Kelly Kelly is standing in the ring. It's time for the third match of the night.[Match 3:] Beth Phoenix defeated Kelly Kelly via pinfall - This was just a typical squash to hype up the Women's Champion. To show her power and strength. She manhandled Kelly Kelly - throwing her around, and just messing with her. Stomping her, and then finally finishing her off and getting the win. |
After the match Phoenix celebrated as the cameras went backstage once again to Stephanie McMahon's office this time - she seems to be working with papers and a knock is on her door. She tells them to come in and in comes "The Legacy". Orton leads them and he speaks to Stephanie. He tells her "That he is gonna run this brand, and she miswell step down now before he just takes over." She tells him "No, and next week - she already has something planned for Orton's little 'clan'. They will be facing John Cena, Batista, Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston in an 8 man tag team match." Orton just smirks and "The Legacy" head out of the office as Stephanie has a weird look on her face as the final shot before commercial. A hype video is then shown for ECW the next night, showing a graphic for Matt Hardy facing off against Vladimir Kozlov in an ECW Title match! The hype tells them to make sure to tune in for this special night. When the show returns we are at the announce table - they announce that it is official, next week on Raw we will see "The Legacy" versus "Raw's Best" in an 8 man tag match! It is now time for the 4th match of the night![Match 4:] John "Bradshaw" Layfield and Shawn Michaels defeated Batista and Rey Mysterio via pinfall - This competition brought alot of emotions in to play. With Michaels and his friendship with Batista and Mysterio, but now having to help try to destory them with JBL beyond his will. Michaels and Batista started out, and it didn't really click that Michaels had to work for JBL and fight his friend. JBL and Michaels eventually got the job done and they took out Batista and Rey - Rey was the one in the ring and he was pretty messed up. JBL took him down and tagged in Michaels and told him to finish him off. Michaels tried not to but he tuned up the band and cracked Mysterio with a Sweet Chin Music for the win for him and his 'owner'. |
After the match John 'Bradshaw' Layfield celebrates as Michaels looks down at what he has caused, and he can't do a thing about it. JBL gets into Michaels face and starts yelling so the crowd can hear. "Do you see what we can do? As an alliance? We just took out Batista and Rey Mysterio! Do you see that?" Michaels just gets out of the ring and walks to the back and is then followed by JBL as the show goes backstage to Cena on a split screen with Chris Jericho - their World Title match is up.. next! The show then goes to a commercial break before one last match. When we return "My Time Is Now" hits and out comes John Cena, the world champion. He does his regular entrance and grabs a microphone and starts talking before his match. "Seeing as I didn't get to talk earlier, I miswell get one thing in." Cena smirks and says "Toledo, Ohio!" They respond with "Yeah!" Cena then says "The Champ is Here!" They cheer wildly as it is time for the main event![Main Event - World Heavyweight Championship:] John Cena defeated Chris Jericho via Submission - This match has to qualify for one of Raw's best matches to be held on cable television. The match started off with a quick lockup turned into a headlock by Chris Jericho to Cena. Cena turned this into a dodge and then into a shoulder block. The match keeps going back and forth and Jericho has a chance - he hits Cena with the Codebreaker and goes for the pin and only gets the 2. He is majorly shocked, and then turns it into a Walls of Jericho which Cena then grabs rope! Cena regains himself and when he gets back up and fights he hits Jericho with an 'F-U' and then goes into an 'STFU' and Jericho holds up for a second before tapping out for the last time against Cena and his World Championship. |
Cena celebrates with his World Championship as Jericho pampers his neck. Cena climbs out of the ring and goes to the top of the ramp with his song playing and holds up his World Heavyweight Championship to close off Raw on December 15th, 2008.

-A decent start to RAW. Hopefully this doesn't happen, but I see JBL winning the World Heavyweight Title. -CM Punk fighting and Regal on commentary taking on Knox was very smart. Punk winning was obvious. -Wonder what the Legacy beatdown was for. Could make for some interesting feuds if booked right. -Beth Phoenix over Kelly Kelly was expected as well. -Not sure if I agree with Mysterio and Batista vs. JBL and HBK before the main event, should be first-hour main event. -Cena retaining was great. Hope he can grt a lengthy reign as the champion. -Good show.

- The opening promo was well written. - Punk winning against Knox makes him look strong before his match against Regal. - Legacy attacking Kane makes them look powerful. - Beth Phoenix over Kelly was the right call. - HBK & JBL winning made JBL look like he can just rule HBK. - Cena retaining was good. - Very nice show.
