Finally had some time to myself today due to the monster storm that hit the Northeast, so I sat down and finished last year's Wrestlemania, which I started watching a few weeks ago to prepare for this Sunday's event. This was actually the first time I watched the event since it originally aired, and I noticed a few things this time around, and saw a few things in a different light. Wrestlemania XXVI was interesting, perhaps one of the most interesting Wrestlemania's of all time. It had quite possibly one of the best cards in Wrestlemania history on paper, and produced one of the most middle-of-the-road results I've ever seen. It would be a stretch to call last year's event bad. There were plenty of redeemable qualities and nice moments to make it plenty enjoyable. But to say it lived up to the hype would be a gross overstatement. In the year that's passed, my opinion of the Bret Hart/Vince McMahon match still hasn't changed. It was poorly executed from start to finish, and really wasn't even all that fun to watch. The Hart family involvement is what killed the whole thing for me. Cena/Batista was far, far better than I remember it. A career defining moment for Batista, as far as I'm concerned. The same could even be said for Cena. These guys stood toe to toe with Taker/HBK and gave them a run for their money. What I found most interesting, though, was the length of the matches. I've always been fascinated by match length. I think it's incredibly interesting to see how much time WWE deems necessary to tell particular stories and how the pacing of a match effects the way it comes off to a live audience. So, when watching today, I kept the times in mind. I found it incredibly intriguing that, aside from The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, not a single match clocked in at twenty minutes or higher. The closest was Edge vs. Chris Jericho, which finished right around the 15:40 mark. The WWE Title match was just around 13:35. It's amazing to think that the two most prestigious titles in the WWE were defended in under twenty minutes at the year's biggest event. It seems crazy in hindsight that all of that build literally leads up to just over ten minutes worth of action. So it got me to thinking - is there any match, conceivably, that WWE could warrant giving twenty or more minutes to this year? A four hour show with nine matches actually doesn't lend that much time to wrestling itself when you've got a huge entrance ramp that doubles (or more) the time it takes for a superstar to get to the ring. If anything, I think it will be Undertaker vs. Triple H, solely on the fact that I expect there to be a lot of downtime because of the No Holds Barred stipulation. Aside from that, I find it highly unlikely that any match, particularly the WWE and World Title matches, will even make it past the 15 minute mark. I too was recently looking into match lengths when preparing my fantasy booking. I was mainly looking to see what the chances were that Sheamus/Bryan could get a decent amount of time to wrestle if they open the show, but unfortunately they'll be lucky if they even get 8 minutes or so in that spot. Aside from MITB, WWE hasn't had a long opener at WM in quite some time. From there I checked out the lengths of other matches in recent years and was surprised at how many matches go under 15 or even 10 minutes on a four hour show. Granted, this year there is only 9 matches, so hopefully they'll give more time to each of the matches. More than likely, though, that extra time will all be given to The Rock. As for the matches on the card, the only ones that I think have a chance of hitting the 15 minute mark would be the main three matches. Although, Del Rio/Edge is a bit of a stretch. I think it will be somewhere in the 10-15 range. Cena/Miz could get close to the 20 minute range, but I dunno. I expect Triple H/Undertaker will get at least 20-25 minutes to work with, though, due to the stipulation, the likely involvement from HBK, and just for the fact that it's a match that features Triple H and the Undertaker. |

Wrestlemania 27 as very briefly booked on the fly by Alec Baldwin:
Open the show with the Rock. He gets the crowd excited with a nice promo talking about how great it is back to be back on the greatest stage of all: Wrestlemania.
Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
Rey shows a lot of offense, but Cody Rhodes picks up a strong win here after some missed spots on Rey's part. Cody doesn't stop after the bell. He beats Rey so badly that refs and agents come to stop him. Cody continues his assault until Sin Cara makes the save. Agents pull Cody away while Sin Cara tends to Rey. Rey limps around after Sin Cara helps him up. Cara raises Rey's hand.
US Title Match: Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan
Good second match here. Sheamus comes off looking great here, as he kicks Bryan into the ground for most of the match. In true Bryan Danielson style, he makes his competition look great by taking a great beating. Bryan gets to showcase a little bit more of his ROH style with some signature movies, and he even gets a couple of chats from the crowd. In the end, Bryan regains the title by submission.
The Corre vs. Santino, Kozlov, Kane and Big Show
They make their entrances, and it is made aware that Kozlov would not be able to wrestle due to The Corre's attack on him at Axxess. The GM chimes in and says that Kofi Kingston will be taking his place. The GM also announces that this will be settled elimination style. Kane and Big Show take turns beating on and eliminating Slater. Then Barrett gets angry and sics all of the Corre onto Big Show, hurting his leg. Big Show gets counted out. Kane is eliminated next by Zeke. Santino is gone after a 450 from Gabriel. Kingston gives an awesome effort, but is eventually overcome by numbers. The Corre stands tall at the end.
Randy Orton vs. C.M. Punk
Some very good wrestling here. Good submissions, fewer rest holds than usual. Back and forth with neither gaining a huge advantage. Turns into a brawl near the end, due to the hatred here. Orton goes for the punt near the end, but Punk seamlessly counters into a G2S. Orton turns it into an RKO. Punk kicks out and then punts Orton in the head for a KO. Punk laughs and tells Orton revenge is a bitch.
Morrison, Stratus, and Snooki vs. Ziggler and LayCool
Surprisingly good action here. Morrison and Ziggler carry the match with great back and forth action. The end is one where there are several finishers given, but Stratus/Morrison/Snooki get the triple pin on the other 3 at the same time. Pretty good for the celebrity match, because there was good talent around the "celebrity". The faces have their hands raised, because that's what always happens with the celebrity match.
The Rock comes out and welcomes the Hall of Fame Class of 2011. He goes through and congratulates each man, and talks about them. Nice moment here. There's an interesting comment about how Rock never got to face HBK one on one. High emotion and excitement. There's a few "One More Match" chants directed at both HBK and the Rock. They both dismiss it.
Lawler vs. Cole feat. Swagger and Austin
Great gimmick match with Swagger and Austin really playing to the crowd. Cole gets huge heat with his annoying attire, attitude and stupid face. Lawler wins with a piledriver after Austin stuns Swagger and Cole. Lawler and Austin share a beer.
World Heavyweight Championship: Edge vs. ADR
Christian makes his way out with Edge. The GM announces that since ADR lost two weeks in a row to Christian that Christian should be included as a participant in the match. Del Rio throws a fit. Brodus Clay is ringside and he also throws a fit. The match sees Edge and Christian both focusing on ADR to begin with, but near the end of the match Del Rio is out of the ring, so Edge and Christian lock up after standing face to face and taking in the crowd's cheers. Del Rio brings a chair in after the ref gets knocked down. He hits Edge with the chair and then goes for Christian, but Christian counters. Christian hits Del Rio with the chair and covers him. The ref counts....1.....2.....And Edge makes the save. Edge spears Del Rio and then Christian gives Edge the killswitch. Christian looks at both Edge and Del Rio laying in the middle of the ring. Who should he pin? He chooses Edge, and pins him for his first WHC. Afterward, they shake hands and Edge raises Christian's hand.
The Undertaker vs. Triple H
Slow starting match with major electricity. Back and forth the entire time. Triple H has Undertaker reeling, and it doesn't look good for the Streak. Then Undertaker hits his second "life" and gains the upperhand. It turns into a hardcore type match with cables, sledgehammers, announce tables, etc. HBK comes out, hesitantly. He stands at the ramp way for a while, and then makes his way down. Taker looks to HBK half nervously. Taker continues on with the match. Triple H smirks at HBK being here. The end sees Taker in front Triple H with HBK gearing up for some SCM on Taker. Taker falls to the floor and HBK hesitates, seeing Triple H in front of him. HBK kicks Triple H in the teeth anyway. Then stands over Triple H, looking down. He says "you can't win." And Taker pins Triple H for the Streak to go to 19-0. HBK leaves, and Taker celebrates.
WWE Title: Cena vs. Miz
No one cares about the match. Fast Forward to the end: Cena is about to win and the Rock's music hits. He comes down and gets into the ring. Cena and the Rock are face to face. Then the Miz gets up and stands in the middle with all of them. The Rock asks for a mic. He says since he's the host, he makes the rules. And he's now a part of this match. The three of them mix it up. And the Miz gets taken out to the outside. The Rock and Cena have a good exchange, back and forth. Cena hits the AA for a long two. The Rock gets a Rock Bottom for a long two. They beat the hell out of each other, and the Miz attacks both of them with the briefcase, and he picks up the surprise win
(I hate this ending, but I couldn't see Cena going over the Rock and I couldn't see them putting the title on the Rock, so I just chose the only other option. Miz winning here would really put him over hugely.)

I'm 99 and 9/10's percent sure that (in spite of the price tag... and other means of viewing) I WILL BE ORDERING WRESTLEMANIA! The last PPV I ordered was Hardcore Justice on my birthday (8/8) This PPV seems like it'll have some promise. my motivations?
I'm really curious about Christian's role in Edge-DelRio
I'm a big ADR fan so I want to see Del Rio as World Champion now not later.
Taker-HHH has won my curiosity I hope to be impressed
I'm sure Sheamus-Bryan will be a fun technical and hard-hitting match
I really want to see Cena turn if he does at the moment in which he does
I'm hoping Miz wins his match
I cannot wait to see Lawler destroy Michael Cole
And a number of other reasons but those make the show a must watch for live

Well, the card has shaped up a little different to my made-up card (things started to fall into place rather all of a sudden over the last few weeks). Anyway, I thought I'd have a pop at booking the show as well... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rey Mysterio vs. Cody RhodesFast-paced, back and forth opener, just what WrestleMania needs. I'm thinking the end comes when Mysterio misses a 619 attempt and then Rhodes quickly pounces on Rey in the follow-through to hit Cross-Rhodes for the win. Maybe, for continuation of the feud, Rhodes can continue the beat down and attempt to take Mysterio's mask, only for Rey to fight back, hit a 619 on Rhodes and get out of dodge to the joy of the fans. Next The Rock comes out to welcome the fans to Mania and also reveals his surprise for The Miz and John Cena... he will be keeping an eye on both men and surveying the match as the Special Guest Enforcer! U.S. ChampionshipSheamus vs. Daniel BryanAnother back and forth match, a short spell of Sheamus-dominance, followed by Bryan kicking the crap out of Sheamus. Perhaps a mid-match slug-fest, with Sheamus hitting punches and Bryan replying with those wonderful forearm uppercuts. Sheamus' Backbreaker is countered into the LeBell Lock for Bryan to reclaim his title. Randy Orton vs. CM PunkCM Punk does a lot of dodging early on in the match, continually getting in between the ropes and perhaps escaping to the outside of the ring. Orton goes on the chase and the two brawl around ringside for a little bit. Punk heads back in the ring, gets the upper hand for a bit, before Orton begins his power surge and hits the Powerslam and Backbreaker, before getting poised for the RKO. The RKO is countered and both men are down. Punk rolls out of the ring and gets a wrench out, leading to the ref taking it from him and thowing it outside. In the meantime Punk takes off the lower turnbuckle pad. Orton however is now stirring and gets up to see Punk struggling to get up in the corner. He runs toward him and goes for the Punt, but Punk is of course playing possum, dodges it and Orton kicks the exposed turnbuckle hard. Punk then hits Go To Sleep for the win. Special Guest Referee: 'Stone Cold' Steve AustinJerry 'The King' Lawler vs. Michael Cole [w/ Jack Swagger]Cole spends much of the start of the match in the corner while Swagger barks instructions at him. Cole gets the upper hand but only for a short while. After Swagger repeatedly tries to get involved on behalf on Cole, Stone Cold heads to the outside and stomps a mudhole in Swagger by the barricade. King then gets the better of Cole now he is alone and pummels him with punches, kicks, chops and stomps. Swagger again tries to save Cole but is met with a Stunner from Austin. Cole also receives a Stunner and King puts a foot on Cole's chest to get the win while standing tall. Post-match beer bash ensues, Cole takes another Stunner and is soaked in beer. John Morrison, Trish Stratus & Snooki vs. Dolph Ziggler and LayCool [w/ Vickie GuerreroMorrison and Ziggler provide the quality in the match, Snooki has very little in-ring time, and Trish takes a bit of a beating from LayCool before turning the tables and taking both of them out of the equation. Meanwhile Snooki pounces on Vickie Guerrero to the delight of the crowd. Morrison and Ziggler are left in the ring, JoMo hits a back kick to Ziggler temple, knocking him down perfectly in place for Starship pain giving his team the win. World Heavyweight ChampionshipEdge [w/ Christian] vs. Alberto Del Rio [w/ Brodus Clay]Starts off as a solid wrestling match, but after a while things get out of hand; Christian and Clay begin to brawl outside, with Christian grabbing a chair and hitting Clay multiple times. Edge tries to stop Christian as he fears he will cost him the match. Del Rio gets in on the action, attacking Edge and bringing him back in the ring. This leads to Del Rio dominating for a short time. A recovering Clay attacks Christian, leading to more chaos, before the referee sends both men to the back. After a bit more back and forth action, Edge sets up for the Spear, misses and goes smashing into the ring post. Del Rio then locks on the Cross Armbreaker for the win and the World title. The Corre vs. Kane, Big Show,  & As Corre had previously taken out Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella, Big Show and Kane announce their replacements: Kofi Kingston and Diesel! The faces dominate in the early going, before the match becomes chaotic and the action spills to the outside. The Corre members then get the better of their opponents and target the Big Show who is alone in the ring. Barrett hits Wasteland on Big Show and Gabriel is tagged in immediately to finish him with the 450 Splash, while Slater and Jackson survey ringside to keep their opponents at bay. No Holds Barred MatchThe Undertaker vs. Triple HThe longest match of the night, starts off as a cagey affair before Triple H really goes on the attack. Soon, we see the announcer's table pulled apart, monitors and cables being used as weapons, and the steel steps also come into play. Triple H will stop at nothing to take down the Deadman. A Pedrigree attempt on the announcer's table is countered and Triple H goes flying down the to floor. Undertaker Chokeslams Hunter through said table. A bit of down time... then a slug-fest... then as Triple H begins to get the edge he decides to go for a steel chair and end it. Undertaker boots the chair into Hunter's face. A Last Ride follows but Triple H kicks out. More down time... Undertaker goes for the Tombstone but Triple H squirms out of it and hits the Pedigree, but again only a 2 count. Hunter now has only one thing in mind, the Sledgehammer. He brings it in to the ring and receives another big boot before he can take a shot. This time Hunter takes a Tombstone but kicks out again. Undertaker slowly drags the steel steps toward the middle of the ring. But after lots of staggering and stalling, Triple H is stirring and leaps up to kick the Deadman in the gut and go for the Pedigree - countered and Trips is hurled over Undertaker's head on to the steel steps. Undertaker then seals the victory with a devastating Tombstone onto the steps. WWE Championship [Special Guest Enforcer: The Rock]The Miz vs. John CenaThe Rock comes out first to massive cheers. Lots of hype and a great atmosphere fills the building. Cena gets the better of Miz in the early going. Later in the match there is a ref bump as Miz ducks a Cena shoulder block and Cena collides with the ref, knocking him out of the ring. The Rock takes off the shades and glares at Cena. Miz capitlizes on this staredown and hits a SCF. No ref... Miz looks up the ramp yelling for a new referee, and super Cena has begun stirring. He leaps up and delivers an AA before collapsing as well. The Rock takes his chance... he gets in the ring, surveys the damage and poises for a Rock Bottom on Cena. He hits it and leaves as the new referee is making his way down to the ring. Miz slowly crawls over and puts an arm over Cena for the 1, 2, 3 to retain the title. All eyes were on Rock and Cena, and Miz comes out of WrestleMania as the man with the gold. Miz gets the hell out of there and sits by the barricade as Cena stares up the ramp at Rock, motioning to him that this isn't the end and he's got his attention. Mania ends. |

Shawn Michaels comes out of retirement to have another shot at ending the streak.
Undertaker already announced to go into the HOF agrees.
Shawn ends the streak and both retire afterwards.

I'm hoping for Sunny's induction it was or is going to be But I'm expecting: Trish trying to say Sunny, the sex symbol and non-Wrestler in WWE was her "inspiration" would be fun to hear.

Who else is PUMPED!!?? I can't  ing wait until tomorrow. I'm gonna go watch True Story of Wrestlemania parts on blu-ray now to get me more pumped. And here's my predictions: Miz def. Cena Edge def. I am getting kinda excited for WrestleMania, but the only things I would be looking forward to are Michael Cole taking a whooping and The Rock's appearance and that's about it. Kinda sad, but whatever. I ain't interested in the other crap at all.
