Seemed like a basic promo for Austin and McMahon. Nothing all that special, really. For some reason I really like the Mid-South Connection tag team. Glad to see them getting wins. Nice win for Tajiri in a match that would surely kick major ass on television. Owen/Pac should be a enjoyable match. I’m not big on the Rock N’ Roll Express winning matches in 1998 over a younger, more valuable team in Too Much. They don’t seem to really fit with the era. I hope you keep with the stipulation that Rock won’t get another IC title shot, as long as Shamrock is the champ. Seemed like a decent bout. Not surprised to see the recently debuted Venis to beat Mero. Very interested to see a Shamrock/Bradshaw feud. I actually really like to see Bradshaw get a singles push during this time. I thought he could’ve been a great singles heel in 1996, so kudos to you for doing this. I really don’t like Sabu talking. That bugs me to no end. Wasn’t interested in the Outlaws/Headbangers match. I like the idea of a Funk/HHH I Quit match. I fully expect Funk to retire. I don’t get the point of the main event if Jack is wrestling Austin next week anyway. Seemed kind of pointless and was booked just to have a main event for the show. Overall, a lot of feud progression and some decent matches. Good stuff, Dan!

| WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 11th May 1998 |

Baltimore, Maryland - Baltimore Arena

# | Dark Match | 1 | The Undertaker def. Kane |

We kick off RAW tonight with a limousine pulling up, and out stepped Mick Foley alongside Mr McMahon, Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson, as Foley talked to Vince about how last week was definitely not his night, because he's not going to face Stone Cold Steve Austin at Over the Edge in two weeks, but tonight is the night, and he will be winning the WWF Championship against the "Texas Rattlesnake" tonight on RAW is WAR! Foley seems pleased as he walks away, McMahon talking to Brisco and Patterson about how he prays he does, because Steve Austin will be almost dead after beatings from Mick Foley and Kane! The opening video package for RAW aired, and we cut to the live Baltimore Arena here in Maryland for RAW is WAR! Jim Ross and Michael Cole introduce us to the show.
The crowd roared as a gong was heard, and the lights in Baltimore Arena went out, the crowd erupting as the "Lord of Darkness" himself began to make his way down the rampway. Undertaker slowly stepped into the ring and grabbed a microphone, then demanding that he get the Chairman of the World Wrestling Federation out here immediately! Undertaker talked about how he's worked for the WWF for eight years, and suddenly his brother, Kane comes here and impresses him, and grabs a WWF Championship shot! What is this, conspiracy? Undertaker talks about how he was the WWF Champion seven years ago, and everybody fears him. Everybody fears the "Phenom" because they all know he will rip their heads off if they mess with him. Undertaker reminds us that he defeated Steve Austin last month on RAW, then demanding to know where his title shot is! Undertaker then notes that he is still not done with Kane, in fact, the "Big Red Machine" is in serious jeopardy if he wins the WWF Championship on May 31st. Undertaker will end him once and for all if Paul Bearer gets in his face. But McMahon will be victim to a lifetime of eternity if he is not granted a WWF Championship opportunity! The theme of Cactus Jack hit instead to loud cheers, as Mick Foley stepped out in a suit, happy about how he has a title shot tonight. Foley asks 'Taker if it's a crime to fairly have a chance against Stone Cold and win the WWF Championship? Foley tells 'Taker that he should admit it, Mick Foley and Kane is where it's at! He thinks that Kane is a big red idiot, and that's no lie, but it's karma! Foley laughs about how 'Taker still wears the gothic clothing like it's fashionable. He tells 'Taker that it's about time he grew out of it, because he looks ridiculous! 'Taker tells Foley that he's going to pay for that later rather than now, but he will still wish him luck tonight. A lightning strike then struck the rampway as Foley scattered from the rampway, 'Taker's theme playing.
-- Commercial Break --
We see a replay from last week on the War Zone as Ken Shamrock was in the dressing room when he was suddenly attacked by Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, who seemed poised to get a match with Shamrock for the WWF Intercontinental Championship.
1) Justin Bradshaw vs Owen Hart |

This was a pretty back and forth match for Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, the three-hundred pound Texan going at it with one of the most gifted talents in the World Wrestling Federation today, the "Black Hart" firing at Bradshaw relentlessly and taking Bradshaw down repeatedly. A hurricanrana almost had Bradshaw pinned but Justin kicked out. The match resumed as Owen was pounded on by the Texan, Bradshaw continuing and delivering a big powerbomb which could have had Owen beaten but Owen got the rope break. The match continued as the "Black Hart" continuously got back up and went after Bradshaw, Bradshaw definitely finding it difficult, but if stepping in the ring with Ken Shamrock, this would be what you'd get! Owen tried the Sharpshooter but X-Pac ran to ringside, getting on the apron to distract the official, and Owen ran him off! Owen turned around and was laid out by a massive Lariat (punned the "Clothesline From Hell") for the win!

Winner: Justin Bradshaw @ 6:14 [**]

The crowd booed as Justin Bradshaw got back up, raising his fists in the air, and Ken Shamrock then ran to ringside, grabbing X-Pac and giving him the belly to back suplex on the floor! The WWF Intercontinental Champion making the save for Owen Hart, Shamrock taking Bradshaw down and applying the Ankle Lock! Shamrock refused to let go as he had broken down! Many officials restrained Shamrock as Shamrock finally let go. A vignette aired, promoting the debut of the mysterious 'Edge'. It showed a long haired man sitting alone on the subway, then beating up several men in dark alleys. 'Edge' is coming soon to the WWF. -- Commercial Break --We return to RAW as Triple H and X-Pac were shown walking around the corridors, meeting Commissioner Slaughter and talking about what just happened, how X-Pac deserves retribution! Slaughter told D-Generation X that they know that he hates them, but he will make a match tonight, where no interference will take place; X-Pac will face Ken Shamrock in a non-title match! X-Pac told Slaughter that he will take his WWF Intercontinental Champion and knock him out! 2) Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry (w/D-Lo Brown and two women) vs Skull and 8-Ball (w/Darren Drozdov) |

This was definitely not going to be a technical masterpiece, as Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry were acting cool with two women on their arms as well as fellow Nation member, D-Lo Brown. Mustafa was addressed as "The Godfather" Kama Mustafa, interestingly enough, as Mustafa and Henry traded blows with Skull and 8-Ball in the opening moments of this match. The Disciples of the Apocalypse and the Nation definitely with history, as Darren Drozdov and D-Lo Brown also mixed it up in this match. Mark Henry and the "Godfather" worked over Skull and kept him from 8-Ball but 8-Ball eventually got the tag, the battle involving all four men once again! Mark Henry big splashed 8-Ball to a loud reaction as Mark continued, Kama Mustafa with a brainbuster on 8-Ball! The Nation members covered and that was it.

Winners: Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry @ 4:24 [*1/2]

The crowd booed as the "Godfather" Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry celebrated their wins, D-Lo Brown joining them with the women, as the Disciples of the Apocalypse remained down, Darren Drozdov then getting into the ring and trying to go after the Nation but D-Lo gave Drozdov the Sky High! The Nation stomped away at the Disciples of the Apocalypse members before the theme of D-Generation X hit, the New Age Outlaws making their way out to the ring with Chyna as Billy Gunn and Jesse James climbed into the ring, microphones in hand as this was quite unprecedented. The WWF Tag Team Champions spoke about how they were with the greatest WWF Tag Team Champions in history, and they've beaten every poor excuse for a tag team here in the WWF several times. The Outlaws asked Kama and Mark if they seriously thought they were a decent combination. Mustafa said that they were better than the Outlaws thought, and Billy rammed the microphone into the skull of the "Godfather"! Bad Ass and Road Dogg got into a brawl with the Nation members, three on two before Chyna got involved, knocking D-Lo out with a big right hand! Chyna helped the Outlaws to loud boos as Kama and Mark Henry were left laid out! The New Age Outlaws smirked as they eyed up the two hot women that were with the Nation, leaving with Chyna and the women on their arms! -- Commercial Break --We return to RAW as Jim Ross and Michael Cole remind us that still to come on RAW was Ken Shamrock against X-Pac with no interference involved, plus how Val Venis spent his Monday night and Tuesday daytime with Jacqueline! 3) WWF Light Heavyweight Championship: Scorpio (c) vs Yoshihiro Tajiri (w/Yamaguchi) |

Such a hard-hitting encounter guaranteed as this was bound to be one of Scorpio's hardest WWF Light Heavyweight Championship defenses, Scorpio trading high-flying moves and being matched equally by the Kai En Tai member, Yoshihiro Tajiri. Tajiri pounded on Scorpio as time went by, kicking him repeatedly and choosing to go for the shoulder of the champion; Scorpio's arm locked in a cross armbreaker, Tajiri bringing the strongstyle version of Japan wrestling to the World Wrestling Federation tonight. Yamaguchi smirked from ringside as Scorpio tried to fight back numerous times just for Tajiri to come back at him. Scorpio finally gained offense, as Scorpio went up and nailed a big 450 Splash on Tajiri! But Yamaguchi but Tajiri's foot on the bottom ropes. TAKA Michinoku ran to ringside and went after Yamaguchi but Mens Teioh and Shoichi Funaki appeared at ringside, going after Michinoku and taking him down into the ring steps! Scorpio and Tajiri traded blows before Scorpio got the green mist! Tajiri nailed a Buzzsaw Kick on Scorpio and we had a new champion!

Winner and NEW WWF Light Heavyweight Champion: Yoshihiro Tajiri @ 5:12 [**1/2]

The crowd booed as Yoshihiro Tajiri celebrated his win, Yamaguchi, Shoichi Funaki and Mens Teioh getting into the ring; Teioh and Funaki getting Tajiri onto their shoulders, Yamaguchi and Kai En Tai victorious over the light heavyweight division, their domination quest fulfilled tonight! We cut to Val Venis in the backstage area as he was smiling when Marc Mero confronted him, the "Marvelous" one mentioning how Jacqueline talked about their night on Monday, and he almost vomited! Mero called Venis sick and told him that he would kick his ass if he showed that video tape to the fans in attendance tonight! The "Big Valbowski" tells Mero to calm down, because when it comes to being on tape, bald truly is beautiful! Venis laughed as Mero stormed off. -- Commercial Break --The crowd cheered as Val Venis was shown on his way to the ring, the "Big Valbowski" with five wins under his belt, as Venis climbed into the ring and talked about how he firstly wanted to talk about how last Monday night would not have gone down without the sexual assistance of the delicious Sable. The theme of Sable hit and she headed to the ring to a loud ovation, Venis giving her the microphone and talking about how Marc Mero threatened to humiliate her, and so it's her time to humiliate Jacqueline! The video tape aired, as Jacqueline was shown in leather tied to the bed, yelling for Val to give it to her and have it out of the way. Venis asked her how hard she wanted it as Jacqueline asked for Venis to slap her, and he did! Val proceeded to dance and sexually exploit Jacqueline as Venis went to remove her bra when the video just scrambled! The image of the TitanTron showed Sable fully naked with Mero's head over her breasts and vagina as the theme of Marc Mero hit, big grin on his face with Jacqueline. Jacqueline told Val that he didn't satisfy her at all, in fact, Sable should be embarrassed with herself. Mero said that he said he knew Sable slept naked under her night gown, so he has an idea everybody may love. Jacqueline challenged Sable to an evening gown match at Over the Edge, where the winner will be stripped of her evening gown and left half naked, or even naked in Sable's case, in the middle of ten thousand fans! The crowd cheered at the good thought, Sable saying that she's not embarrassed of people seeing her naked, accepting the challenge! We see X-Pac on his way to the ring, and he is in action up next! -- Commercial Break --4) Non-Title Match: Ken Shamrock vs X-Pac |

X-Pac seemed so even with the "World's Most Dangerous Man" as Ken Shamrock took X-Pac down with a spear in the opening moments and seemed to want to end this so quick. But X-Pac wouldn't allow it, kicking Shamrock with those educated feet. Only X-Pac's third match back in the World Wrestling Federation following his return to the company after WrestleMania XIV, Shamrock kicking X-Pac and X-Pac kicking Shamrock. X-Pac soon started to go after the wrist of Shamrock, pretty smart as without the wrist, Shamrock would not be able to apply that deadly Ankle Lock submission. No interference allowed, the "World's Most Dangerous Man" was confident though, X-Pac applying many wrist locks but Shamrock fired back, a big belly-to-back suplex to X-Pac! Shamrock went for the Ankle Lock but X-Pac hit the floor, leaving and getting himelf counted out!

Winner: Ken Shamrock @ 4:45 by count-out [**1/4]

X-Pac headed up the rampway as the crowd booed, Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw then jumping the WWF Intercontinental Champion from behind and delivering a thunderous big boot to Ken Shamrock! Bradshaw tossed Shamrock to ringside, the damage now done as Bradshaw slammed Shamrock face first into the ring steps, then picking up the steel steps and dropping them on the worked over wrist/hand of Shamrock! Shamrock rolled on the floor in pain, as Bradshaw had just made himself more noticed to the champion! RAW went off the air.

The opening video package to the War Zone aired, and we cut to the live Baltimore Arena where pyrotechnics go off once again, and Jim Ross and Jerry "the King" Lawler introduce us to the show.

Al Snow, the man that is increasingly becoming in the way of Jeff Jarrett's plans in recent weeks took on the leader of the Nation in a hot opening contest tonight on the War Zone as Rock pounded away at Snow, the "Brahma Bull" overconfident, his ego massive as per usual, but Al Snow proved Rock wrong as the match resumed, Rock and Snow trading blows before Snow went after the knee of Rock and even applied a figure-four leglock to the "Great One"! The people of The Rock cheered as Rock was in agony but he easily broke out. Rock nailed a spinebuster as well as a leg screw, and he prepared to go for the People's Elbow, but Snow fired back and went for the Snowplow move, the Mid-South Connection running to ringside as Snow fended Bob Holly off with Head! Bart Gunn distracted the official as Jeff Jarrett got in the ring, a big shot with the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship! Jarrett left with the Connection and Jim Cornette, the People's Elbow getting Rock the win!

Winner: The Rock @ 5:52 [**1/2]

The crowd booed as The Rock celebrated his win, the Mid-South Connection, Jim Cornette and Jeff Jarrett leaving, and Rock had gotten the win without the Nation involved! Rock went to leave when he was attacked by Faarooq on the rampway! Faarooq and Rock traded blows before Faarooq gave the "Brahma Bull" the spinebuster right on the rampway! The crowd cheered as Rock wrived in pain, Faarooq getting into the ring and taking a microphone demanding that Rock put up and shut up, in the ring next week, those two! The crowd cheered as Rock sat up, Faarooq leaving to a big ovation. In the backstage area we see Kane with Paul Bearer, as the "Big Red Machine" stood silently. Michael Cole asked Bearer about how Kane is feeling now that he has a one way ticket to a WWF Championship opportunity with either Stone Cold Steve Austin or Cactus Jack at Over the Edge. Bearer said that Kane got the job done two months ago when he defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin. And again two weeks ago on RAW. But last week, Kane also defeated Cactus Jack. There is nothing that anybody can do, not even the Undertaker with his constant bitching about authority! Bearer tells everybody that next week, Bearer has a massive bombshell to drop on the World Wrestling Federation, and the "Lord of Darkness" may want to hear about it. -- Commercial Break --We return to the War Zone as Mr McMahon was on his way to the ring, the Chairman of the World Wrestling Federation accompanied by Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco like usual. McMahon began to talk about how the World Wrestling Federation has changed dramatically since Stone Cold Steve Austin arrived. More abusive language, more violence, more scenarios that are edgy to the WWF. Is this the Attitude Era, or the days of yobs to live, and snobs to die? For bosses to get their asses handed to them. McMahon says that he can live with the violence and audience demographic change, but he does not want any part of Stone Cold Steve Austin week in and week out embarrassing him, because he still has the authority to fire Steve. And he will at pleasure if this resumes. McMahon talks about how he feels like he has little control anymore, but then he reminds himself with this genius power of turning the tables and making business decisions! McMahon mentions the Undertaker's promo earlier tonight, saying that he thinks that he is scared of the "Phenom"? He is not. If anything, he feels sorry for Undertaker's pathetic behavior in the past several months. Because he's weak against the comeuppance of the "Big Red Machine" Kane! The crowd cheers as Undertaker then made his way out to the ring, no fanfare or anything, the "Lord of Darkness" getting into the ring and standing face to face with McMahon! Undertaker asks McMahon why he's such a rat bastard, and demands that he have the first title shot after Over the Edge against Kane or Steve Austin. Vince states that he will have to prove himself to him first. 'Taker then snatches Vince by the throat as the Stooges backed away, Paul Bearer and Kane appearing on the rampway! Bearer stated that since he's interrupting the Chairman, he was going to wait until next week, but he ragged Undertaker's mommy and out came Kane! The crowd booed loudly as Bearer yelled at 'Taker about Kane being his son. Undertaker looked vicious, leaving the ring and trading blows with Kane, having to be broken up by security! -- Commercial Break --A replay of what just occurred aired, Paul Bearer revealing himself as the father of the "Big Red Machine" Kane! The war between the Brothers of Destruction is definitely far from over. 6) Terry Funk vs Brian Christopher (w/Scott Taylor) |

This was easy pickings for the "Hardcore Legend", but what is more important is the fact that ten years ago in Memphis it was Terry Funk against Brian Christopher's 'ally', Jerry "the King" Lawler in an Empty Arena match. Funk and Christopher traded back and forth before Funk started to gain full momentum, shoving Christopher down and working away at the leg, applying the spinning toe hold! Scott Taylor tried to get involved as these young guns, Too Much seemed so optimistic in their journey here in the World Wrestling Federation. Funk nailed a big Piledriver on Christopher, and that was it!

Winner: Terry Funk @ 3:25 [**]

The crowd cheered as Terry Funk was victorious, the "Hardcore Legend" trading blows with the attacking fellow young lion, Scott Taylor as Taylor was given a Piledriver as well by Funk! Terry grabbed a microphone and issued a challenge to X-Pac next week on RAW is WAR! Funk told D-Generation X that he wants no member of DX at ringside for Over the Edge, he'll be damned that there is because Funk is not risking his career with a member of DX at ringside in I Quit! Funk tells them that he'll fight through them all to get to Triple H, he will be victorious and WWF European Champion when it's all said and done, because he will never quit! Triple H then came out, telling Funk to calm down before he gives up to a heart problem. Triple H tells Funk to get ready, because he'll make sure it's official; no member of DX at ringside on May 31st. Terry grins and tells Hunter that he can't wait to kick his youthful bunghole home to Greenwich! An advertisement aired, promoting WWF Over the Edge: In Your House, live on pay-per-view on Sunday May 31st, 1998 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin! We see the Rock 'n' Roll Express talking to the Headbangers in the backstage area when all of a sudden the door burst open and in came the WWF Tag Team Champions! The New Age Outlaws slammed steel chairs into the heads of Mosh and Thrasher before Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson traded blows with Billy Gunn and Jesse James! Why are D-Generation X's tag team doing this? Morton and Gibson were then attacked by Chyna as she delivered big shots to both men, Bad Ass Billy Gunn tossing Gibson into the lockers and Road Dogg Jesse James gave Morton a suplex through a bench! The Outlaws stood tall, Jesse James yelling about how they are the best tag team in the world to date! -- Commercial Break --The theme of Stone Cold Steve Austin hit as the capacity crowd rose to their feet, the WWF Champion headed for the ring and he wasn't ready to waste time, throwing off his ring jacket and title belt and snatching the microphone, Austin talking about how he wasn't about to get screwed over by no official! Austin demands that Cactus Jack bring his best in one of these 'Hardcore matches', because Austin ain't playing by McMahon's rules! Cactus Jack came out to the rampway, and he accepted! Jack charged for the ring. 7) WWF Championship, Hardcore Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs Cactus Jack |

A hard-hitting main event that no WWF authority expected, in fact it was so very rare to have the WWF Championship on the line on this program, the War Zone never seeing so much drama before until tonight! The "Texas Rattlesnake" met Cactus Jack at ringside as the battle went all around ringside, Jack taking apart the ring steps and setting up a Piledriver on them just for Steve to back drop Jack onto them himself! Austin sent Jack flying into the railings before Stone Cold cut Jack open with a big chair shot! Austin continued as he was relentless after Jack, Cactus then battling back with lefts and rights, the Mandible Claw applied at one point, but Austin got the ring bell and slammed it into the cranium of Jack! Mrs Foley's baby boy was down as Austin undressed the announce table and set up for a piledriver on it just for Jack to fire back and nail one of his own! Jack covered for a near fall, as he was pulling out all the stops tonight. You had to believe that Kane was watching from somewhere over this match. Austin and Jack continued the brawl up the ramp as Jack had Austin wounded with a cut on his forehead, when suddenly The Undertaker came from the back and traded blows with Cactus Jack! Undertaker tossed him fifteen feet from the rampway down to the floor as the "Lord of Darkness" seemed neverendingly violent with Jack! Undertaker then gave Stone Cold the Tombstone Piledriver on the bare rampway, 'Taker leaving, the War Zone left stunned!

Winner: No Contest, and STILL WWF Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin @ 9:49 [**1/4]

The crowd cheered as The Undertaker left, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Cactus Jack both unconscious as Kane came out and grabbed Austin by the throat, picking him up and giving him a Chokeslam on the rampway! Undertaker then returned, and both men went right at it! Security had to break them up as Patterson, Brisco, Slaughter and Vince McMahon came out, yelling at everybody to stop! They all stared at Vince surrounded by security as he announced that at Over the Edge, Stone Cold will face Kane for the WWF Championship! But Undertaker will face Cactus Jack in a Hardcore match! The War Zone goes off the air as 'Taker and Kane go at it once more!

lol, Undertaker vs. Kane was a dark match? Damn, bad night for Owen, would've liked to see him pick up the win. Nice starting the Edge promos! I wouldn't figure The Nation vs. the Diciples would be a great match, but know what i noticed? DLo and Droz both at ringside... I kind of read that last part wrong, I thought Chyna left with the girls on her arm! Didn't know you had Tajiri in Kaientai! I like that. Damn that Bradshaw!
Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you that I don't care for the name Mid South Connection, The New Midnight Express would've worked just fine, but at least it saves us from Bodacious Bart and Bombastic Bob, or whatever.

THE BRIT REPORT Presented by Mike Potter on Thursday 7th May 1998
-- RAW is WAR was another interesting show with a mix of decent matches and questionable booking. The show started with The Undertaker delivering a strange mix combination of a worked shoot with his character. It was strange to see 'Taker rant about how he wanted a title shot. Justin Bradshaw and Owen Hart was about to get off the ground but couldn't, as the match came to a close as it got good. It involved a strange mix of interference from X-Pac as well as Ken Shamrock, the Shamrock/Bradshaw feud mixing with Owen/X-Pac sure is a strange mix. Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry took on Skull and 8-Ball in a dire match, nothing special apart from D-Lo Brown and Darren Drozdov's brawling being the only talent in the match. The New Age Outlaws then randomly took out the Nation members. I assume they're trying to prove themselves as the best WWF Tag Team Champions ever. Scorpio lost the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship to Yoshihiro Tajiri in a decent match, but Scorpio is starting to let go a little bit in fitness, and that's what flawed this match. Would have been better without TAKA Michinoku, Shoichi Funaki and Mens Teioh's cameo. Val Venis presented with us some weird bondage tape with Jacqueline, before Marc Mero presented a nude image of Sable (Mero's heads over Sable's delicates made him look a tool). An 'evening gown' match was made, tits and arse here we come. Ken Shamrock and X-Pac could have been good, but X-Pac got himself counted out. It was a shame. The Rock and Al Snow put on a surprisingly solid match, and Faarooq attacked afterwards showcasing the Nation being taken out by the New Age Outlaws. A match was set for next week (why, when a pay-per-view is nearing?) Paul Bearer presented us a bombshell for next week but then released it as Mr McMahon confronted The Undertaker in the ring. Kane and 'Taker began brawling. Terry Funk quickly beat Brian Christopher and called out X-Pac for next week. The match was unnecessary, Too Much looked like morons. The New Age Outlaws attacked the Rock 'n' Roll Express randomly (and the Headbangers AGAIN!) backstage, more showcase of them as the greatest tag team ever. And in a solid main event, Steve Austin fought Cactus Jack to a no contest. It was a hot finish to the show. In fact, promo wise the show was hot, but three matches made this show watchable in the ring.
-- A vignette for 'Edge' aired last night. This character will be played by Adam Copeland, a young Canadian from Toronto that was given a lot of praise for in-ring skills with Christian Cage at a RAW taping last November.
-- Fatu and The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust will return to the WWF shortly from All Japan and ECW respectively. It should be interesting what they will do now.
-- The WWF has Over the Edge: In Your House on 05/31/98. The current card is: - Steve Austin vs Kane for the WWF Championship. - The Undertaker vs Cactus Jack in a Hardcore match - Triple H vs Terry Funk in an I Quit match for the WWF European Championship & Terry Funk's career. - Owen Hart vs X-Pac - Sable vs Jacqueline in an Evening Gown match
-- The World Wrestling Federation are apparently trying to rehire Davey Boy Smith. The British Bulldog was released from WCW previously due to refusing to do the job to Scott Norton. Officials lost hope in Smith after several abysmal performances from Smith in the past several months. In addition, WWF are apparently trying to sign someone from WCW, it is unknown what capacity they currently have, but they are in negotiations with them.
-- It is apparent that the WWF are trying to reorganise a working agreement with AAA in Mexico. This will definitely put a boost into the light heavyweight division. Keeping in mind that the WWF also has ECW and All Japan under the 'working agreement' section, the company is like a monopoly at the moment.
-- WWF RAW beat WCW Nitro in the ratings this week, 4.7 to 4.3. RAW is WAR is standing ground.
-- Jerry Springer from the Jerry Springer Show has revealed in media interviews that he will be in co-operation with the WWF for SummerSlam this August.
-- In results from RAW is WAR on 05/11/98: - Justin Bradshaw def. Owen Hart - Kama Mustafa & Mark Henry def. Skull & 8-Ball - Yoshihiro Tajiri def. Scorpio to win the WWF Light Heavyweight title - Ken Shamrock def. X-Pac by count-out - The Rock def. Al Snow - Terry Funk def. Brian Christopher - Steve Austin def. Cactus Jack to retain the WWF title in a Hardcore match
-- In results from Monday Nitro on 05/11/98: - Disco Inferno def. Barry Horowitz - Kidman def. Juventud Guerrera - Scott Norton def. Yuji Nagata - Hugh Morrus def. Jim Powers - Ultimo Dragon def. Johnny Swinger - Goldberg def. Len Denton - Saturn def. Jerry Flynn - Fit Finley def. Robby Rage - Diamond Dallas Page def. Lenny Lane - Glacier def. Sick Boy - Chris Benoit def. Booker T - Randy Savage def. Hollywood Hogan by DQ

WWF Raw is War
Undertaker versus Kane in a dark match? Damn. Good promo to kick off Raw is War. I'm still sold on you going the HIAC route. Not sure on Bradshaw getting the win. Gives him some good build for his feud with Shamrock, though. Edge! <3 <3 <3 <3. The tag match was unappealing. Random attack from The Outlaws, turning DX face, maybe? Can't see it though with the feuds with Funk and Hart. Tajiri picking up the title is great as he is the right man to take it off of Scorpio. I see TAKA taking it from him somewhere down the road, though. Awkward segment, there. Mero's head covering up Sable's parts made me laugh. I felt like Shamrock//Pac has been over done, but that's my 98. lol. Bradshaw taking Shamrock out keeps his push intact. Obvious win for The Rock with some interference. Hopefully you keep Faarooq relevant after his feud with The Rock. Promo filled Raw id War, I see. Paul Bearer announcing he's Kane's dad is good. Shame that Too Much has been losing to the likes of The Rock N' Roll Express and Terry Funk. Liking how the Outlaws have been taking all the tag teams out recently. Possible L.O.D. return coming, maybe? Like the addition of the Hardcore stip. I know you wrote these up before hand, but awesome link to my Austin/Cactus feud. Another huge match added to Over the Edge is great. The main event scene is a cluster, without a doubt. Kane, Cactus, Austin, and Taker just seem to punch each other all night. Great stuff, can't wait for Over the Edge.

I don’t get why Foley would care about not winning last week when he has a title match this week anyway. Just seems kind of foolish. For some reason I didn’t like the opening promo, something about it didn’t click. I really don’t want to see Taker/Kane continue because I don’t believe Kane has even beaten Taker in this diary. If Kane does win the championship and wrestles Taker I hope he gets a win over him, at some point. But I hope its later down the road so they can both feud with different people for awhile. As much as I hate Owen losing to Bradshaw, it makes sense so that Shamrock can have a new challenger. Seems like Owen is being shuffled down the card. Fully expected the Nation to win the match. I think you are keeping the Outlaws heels but by since they would be more popular than the Nation they should play the tweener role. Wish that Scorpio would’ve gotten a longer run with the title. Nice segment to give Bradshaw some advantage with his feud against Shamrock. Rock/Snow seemed like filler. Fully expect Rock to go over next week. The McMahon segment seemed pretty repetitive to me and I didn’t think Taker needed to come out since he said the exact same thing. Funk winning is fine, I guess. I fully expect a Taker/Jack match now. I figured there would be a no contest finish, but it makes sense if you want Jack to be strong.
Overall, it seemed like a rather lackluster show to me. I like the Bradshaw push, though.

| WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 18th May 1998 |

Nashville, Tennessee - Nashville Arena

# | Dark Match | 1 | Edge def. Buddy Landell | 2 | Dan Severn def. Tony Anthony | 3 | Steve Austin and The Undertaker def. Kane and Cactus Jack |

A replay from last week aired, as Cactus Jack challenged Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Championship, but tension brought the Chairman to a chokehold as The Undertaker demanded a WWF Championship opportunity of his own; Kane attacking and Paul Bearer revealing himself as mating with 'Taker mother to make Kane. Austin and Jack had a hard-fought match ended with interference from Kane and then Undertaker, and a massive brawl occurred leading to McMahon coming to the ring to organise everything himself. The opening video package for RAW aired, and we go to the live UTC Arena in Chattanooga, Jim Ross and Michael Cole introducing us to the show as pyrotechnics went off.
The crowd booed as the pyrotechnics of the "Big Red Machine" hit, Paul Bearer leading the way for the big man as Kane and Bearer got into the ring, Bearer on the microphone talking about how he has guided Kane up and brought him to where he is before everybody today. He brought him from a simple cell in Mrs Callaway's gut to becoming the man we see today, the indestructible monster, Kane! Bearer said that he had to confess to The Undertaker that he was the father of his so-called brother, because he was plagued by guilt. But not the guilt that 'Taker possesses after killing their parents of course, oh no. The Undertaker should still be destroyed, and he is undeserving of a WWF Championship shot like his brother, Kane. The glass then shattered as the "Texas Rattlesnake" made his way out to the rampway, Stone Cold Steve Austin getting a loud ovation. Austin asked Kane and Bearer if they even remembered who their opponent was, it's the WWF Champion! Austin calls Bearer and Kane a couple of freaky bastards, but it doesn't intimidate him that this "Big Red Machine" seems invulnerable to pain, it just means more and more ass kicking for the monster to endure! Austin says it will be fun knocking Kane's lights out on May 31st, once and for all, and tells Bearer not to worry about Undertaker getting on his case, because if he gets involved at Over the Edge, Steve will knock his head off! Bearer tells Stone Cold that this is not a wise decision. Austin asks Bearer if he really said that, but suddenly Jeff Jarrett jumped the "Texas Rattlesnake" from behind! The NWA North American Heavyweight Champion doing this was so random, but Jim Cornette spectated as Jarrett shoved Steve down the rampway, J.R. receiving word that Vince McMahon had just match this match, next!
-- Commercial Break --
1) Champion vs Champion Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Jeff Jarrett (w/Jim Cornette) |

Jeff Jarrett was out to make a name for himself tonight, as the NWA North American Heavyweight Champion fought the WWF Champion in an epic 'interpromotional' champion vs champion match to kick off RAW tonight. Kane and Paul Bearer had left, as Austin and Jarrett traded blows as we returned, Jarrett having tried to go after the knee of Austin, the braced knee of the "Texas Rattlesnake" to focus on for "Double J". After a while of working over the knee though, Jarrett seemed to get overconfident with Jim Cornette, as Jarrett prepared for the figure-four leglock but Austin somehow flipped it over! Austin fired back as he began to pound Jarrett with the use of his good leg, and "Double J" got the Lou Thesz press! Austin swung for Cornette, who was on the apron and Jarrett tried to swing a guitar at Austin, the WWF Champion blocking it and nailing the Stunner for the win!

Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin @ 6:22 [**1/2]

Stone Cold Steve Austin celebrated his win as he grabbed a microphone, the WWF Champion happily announcing that he was far from over with the "Big Red Machine" Kane tonight! Austin left the ring and grabbed a can of beer punned the 'Steveweiser' as Austin began to drink on the job! We cut to Kevin Kelly, who was with the WWF Intercontinental Champion, Ken Shamrock, the "World's Strongest Man" asked by Kelly about his thoughts now that he has a big problem in that his hand is broken and Justin Hawk Bradshaw has issued a challenge to Shamrock for his title in two weeks at Over the Edge! Shamrock tells Kelly that he will be watching him over the next period of weeks, and if he can't beat him with the Ankle Lock, he will find another way to beat him, it's on for Over the Edge and Shamrock will not step down! We see the New Age Outlaws in the backstage area, as Billy Gunn and Jesse James will hopefully reveal why they have been beating down tag teams, next! -- Commercial Break --The crowd booed as we returned to the New Age Outlaws, Bad Ass Billy Gunn and Road Dogg Jesse James in the ring as they talked about how they seem pretty wreckless lately, huh? Destroying people and humiliating people like it was free, it's like taking candy from a baby! Gunn talks about how they are here to stay, they've beaten the best, and they will continue to be the greatest tag team in the WWF history! 2) Non-Title Match: The New Age Outlaws vs Steve Blackman and Al Snow |

This was not expected to be a walk in the park for the supposed 'greatest tag team in World Wrestling Federation history', as Al Snow and the "Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman, an up-and-coming combination in the WWF recently took on the WWF Tag Team Champions in an attempt to regain momentum. Billy Gunn and Jesse James worked over Blackman as the match began, trying to keep Blackman's talent limited so that the Outlaws could dominate Blackman and Snow easier and quicker. Gunn soon tried to go for the FameAsser but Blackman dodged it, the Martial-Arts Kick taking Gunn out, Snow with the tag! Snow ran in and cleared house, preparing the Snowplow on Road Dogg but Jim Cornette was at ringside, and he pulled on Gunn's foot letting Gunn land on his feet! Snow walked into the pumphandle slam from Jesse James for the win.

Winners: The New Age Outlaws @ 5:13 [**1/4]

The crowd booed as the New Age Outlaws celebrated their victory, but suddenly the Headbangers rushed to ringside as Mosh and Thrasher took the WWF Tag Team Champions down with Stage Dives! Mosh and Thrasher ripped the short trunks of Bad Ass Billy Gunn off and he was left in a thong to the amusement of everybody in attendance! Suddenly Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry also entered the fight scene, Mark Henry tossing Mosh out of the ring, the "Godfather" with the brainbuster on Thrasher and then the Rock 'n' Roll Express ran to the ring, trading blows with the Nation, the New Age Outlaws scurried out of the ring, the teams they've humiliated in the past now looking for revenge! We cut to the Jackyl as he is with Gangrel in a dark room, Jackyl talking about Gangrel hasn't had too much fan fare in recent weeks, but tonight is a changing of the seasons, because tonight we will see his oddity creation take on and detonate the force of one other oddity that refuses to admit his bizarreness. But tonight Gangrel will be victorious. -- Commercial Break --A vignette of earlier today aired, as Val Venis was in the jungle with porn star Joanie Hanson, the "Big Valbowski" talking about how this was the scene of his new adult movie, 'Joanie Goes Under'. He laughed as he says that everybody loves the "Big Valbowski". Hanson asks Val to go back in the hole as the two return to their 'film'. We see Val Venis in the ring as the "Big Valbowski" asks everybody in attendance if they'd love to see Val Venis take his towel off! The crowd cheered as Venis seductively took off his towel and wrapped it around one lucky lady in the front row, Venis then asking for whatever the WWF has, to COME and get some from the "Big Valbowski". 3) Val Venis vs The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust |

This was a surprise, as we haven't seen Goldust since just after WrestleMania XIV, the Artist Formerly Known As Goldust wearing a sleeveless version of his Goldust attire, Goldust trading back and forth with the "Big Valbowski" as Val Venis just wouldn't back off from Goldust. TAFKA Goldust soon gained momentum as he worked over the face of Val, obviously trying to damage the pretty face of Venis to make him void of making more adult films. Goldust soon continued as he attempted to give the "Big Valbowski" the Curtain Call but Val slipped out and rolled Goldust up for a near count. The match continued as Goldust soon got tired of Val, totally mid-offense and he went and nailed Val right in the balls with a running kick as Venis' legs were seperated by the ropes!

Winner: Val Venis @ 4:12 by disqualification [**]

The crowd booed as the Artist Formerly Known As Goldust grabbed a microphone and asked Val Venis how he feels now! Goldust talked about how he was shipped to Philadelphia for a month, he's threatened to leave the World Wrestling Federation if he didn't return, and he comes back to some gimmick called Val Venis! Goldust says that if the "Big Valbowski" continues to talk big, he's going to break his big off! Goldust then lowblowed Val with he microphone before storming away to loud boos. We go to the backstage area as Mr McMahon is shown with Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson, McMahon talking about how Stone Cold Steve Austin was reportedly injured earlier tonight against Jarrett in the knee, as Patterson asks McMahon what's going on about tonight's main event. McMahon sets up The Undertaker against Kane as McMahon stated that he wasn't going to allow any security into the arena, nor get involved! Patterson and Brisco seemed shocked as McMahon left. -- Commercial Break --A vignette aired, promoting the debut of the mysterious 'Edge'. Edge will be coming to the World Wrestling Federation soon. The theme of the "Hardcore Legend" hit, and Terry Funk began to make his way out to the ring to a massive applause, the crowd supporting Funk as he made his way to the ring, microphone in hand and it seemed pretty clear that Funk had something to say. Funk talks about how there is a chance that this time in two weeks he will not be out here on RAW is WAR as WWF European Champion, let alone in the World Wrestling Federation. He could be retired, sat at home and reminiscing over various wrestling memories of his prime. But he's a crazy bastard with plenty of balls! Funk tells everybody that he's not about to let his potential career ending stop him at all. In fact, Funk welcomes the end, because if that's the way his career ends, he'll live it on a high note! Funk yells for X-Pac to come out and become a man against the "Hardcore Legend", because the suspense was killing him! Funk vowed to win on May 31st. 4) Terry Funk vs X-Pac (w/Chyna) |

X-Pac started off this match strong, perhaps impressing the "Hardcore Legend" a lot with some big kicks from the D-Generation X member. Chyna accompanied X-Pac for moral support, but Terry Funk in old school style did not treat the "Ninth Wonder of the World" with any exception, treating the valet as a manager! Funk clotheslined Chyna as she tried to get involved at one point, and the crowd were loving it. Funk took advantage of X-Pac and worked over him, X-Pac in trouble of a Piledriver but X-Pac slipped out and spin kicked Funk down! X-Pac continued as he nailed the demoralising Bronco Buster on Funk, continuing as X-Pac was relentless in trying to score a massive win against a legend in this sport of professional wrestling. X-Pac soon prepared for the X Factor but Funk just blocked it and X-Pac got laid out, Funk setting up another Piledriver but Chyna shoved Funk into X-Pac, X-Pac tossing Funk over his head! X-Pac nailed the X-Factor but Owen Hart ran to ringside, applying the Sharpshooter on Chyna! X-Pac left the ring and went right at the "Black Hart" before Funk grabbed X-Pac by the hair, and the Piledriver gave Funk the victory!

Winner: Terry Funk @ 6:45 [**1/4]

The crowd cheered as Terry Funk celebrated his win, the "Hardcore Legend" then aiding Owen Hart as the "Black Hart got X-Pac stuck in the Sharpshooter at ringside before X-Pac slid out and crawled away! Funk stood tall with Owen, as X-Pac will have no escape against Owen at Over the Edge! RAW went off the air.

The opening video package for the War Zone aired, and we cut to the live UTC Arena here in Chattanooga for the second hour of RAW is WAR! Jim Ross and Jerry "the King" Lawler introduce us to the show as they promoted what's still to come.

This match was brewing for a long time as The Rock was out here without any backup, Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry engaged in the war with the New Age Outlaws as shown earlier, and D-Lo Brown injured, The Rock took on the former leader of the Nation in a match that Faarooq showed no mercy on Rock in. The "Brahma Bull" tried to be confident but the cocky youngster was tossed around like a ragged doll; at 6'5, 270 pounds this was hard to believe, Faarooq continuing the assault and preparing for the spinebuster just for Rock to fire back, poking and raking the eye to no limit. Rock stomped away at Faarooq before setting up for the People's Elbow, Rock so confident, but Faarooq then moved and nailed the Dominator, Faarooq covering but Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry hit the ring, the Nation jumping their former leader!

Winner: Faarooq @ 4:21 by disqualification [*3/4]

Faarooq was given the brainbuster by the "Godfather" as Mark Henry delivered the Big Splash to Faarooq, The Rock regaining a vertical base, the leader of the Nation and the Nation members putting the boots to Faarooq! Rock nailed the People's Elbow to add insult to injury, the crowd booing as Rock took a microphone and revealed that he will meet Faarooq one on one at Over the Edge, and he promises no interference will be involved. The Nation left Faarooq down and unconscious. In the backstage area, the New Age Outlaws were shown catching up with Commissioner Slaughter, as Billy Gunn and Jesse James asked Commissioner Slaughter what the hell earlier tonight was about. Slaughter told the WWF Tag Team Champions that as the greatest tag team ever, they have a lot to play up to, and so he didn't announce this earlier, but at Over the Edge, the Outlaws are facing Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry, the Headbangers and the Rock 'n' Roll Express all in one match! The Outlaws looked angry as Slaughter smiled, asking how great champions they felt now. -- Commercial Break --6) Justin Bradshaw vs Mr Aguila |

This was a hard-hitting, one-sided affair as Mr Aguila, an amazing talent from Mexico fought the rabid animal known as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw. Bradshaw just showed everybody why he was challenging for the WWF Intercontinental Championship in two weeks, Bradshaw tossing Aguila around the ring like a ragged doll, powerbombing him twice and delivering two Clotheslines From Hell! Bradshaw nailed a third to secure the three count.

Winner: Justin Bradshaw @ 1:16 [N/A]

The crowd booed as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw was victorious in this outing, Bradshaw staring down Ken Shamrock as the WWF Intercontinental Champion spectated from the rampway, cast on his hand. We go to a vignette, as it showed Sable's intense work-out schedule, showing her weight-train, run and jump to get herself in shape. Sable talked about how she doesn't exactly care too much regarding herself being shown in the nude on television, because the fact is her body is beautiful and in shape. Jacqueline's may be fit, but she's the one fearing her own body. She talks about how Marc Mero has been a constant stabbing in her side in the past, but in two weeks, Sable will humiliate Mero's new girlfriend, Jacqueline, and strip her naked in that ring! -- Commercial Break --A graphic aired, advertising some matches for next week's episode of RAW is WAR, as Jacqueline will compete in a test evening gown match; Jesse James will face Headbanger Mosh, Robert Gibson and Kama Mustafa in preparation for Over the Edge; Owen Hart will team with Terry Funk to face X-Pac and Triple H in a rematch from Unforgiven; plus Stone Cold Steve Austin will do battle with the Undertaker! All next Monday night from 8/9 CT! 7) Gangrel (w/The Jackyl) vs Darren Drozdov (w/Skull and 8-Ball) |

This was a weird match as Gangrel fought on RAW is WAR for the first time in numerous weeks, Gangrel and the Jackyl having been focused on Shotgun Saturday Night, the vampire warrior still undefeated here in the World Wrestling Federation. But with Jackyl's new queries, it seemed as though that they were recruiting new members of his group of oddities, Skull and 8-Ball on watch in case of a potential run-in from somebody. Drozdov came right at Gangrel with lefts and rights, nailing a big running lariat and preparing for the running powerbomb but Gangrel fired back, going after the head of Drozdov before Drozdov fought back, Gangrel nailing the Impaler DDT on Darren out of nowhere for the three!

Winner: Gangrel @ 3:55 [**]

Gangrel celebrated his win to boos as Skull and 8-Ball ran Gangrel out of the ring, the Jackyl and Gangrel reuniting on the rampway as they looked at the heavens, the lights flickering and suddenly the Disciples of the Apocalypse were covered in blood! They got the bloodbath, as the Jackyl laughed it all up! We see Stone Cold Steve Austin sitting in his dressing room, the WWF Championship on his lap and watching a monitor, as coming up soon was Kane and The Undertaker, going at it one more time! -- Commercial Break --The theme of D-Generation X hit to loud boos as the leader of the group, the WWF European Champion came out alone for some reason, he had a microphone and began to talk on the rampway about how in two weeks he could be in the biggest match of the his career, and he's fought Cactus Jack. He's fought Stone Cold, Bret Hart, every potential main eventer and WWF Champion of the past. He tells everybody that in two weeks, we will see him put an end to the barbaric and longing career of the "Hardcore Legend" Terry Funk, and a new hardcore legend would be crowned. And if anybody has a problem with that then Triple H has two words for them! The crowd cheered as DX's theme hit again, Hunter giving off the crotch chops, and up next, the Brothers of Destruction explode one more time! -- Commercial Break --8) The Undertaker vs Kane (w/Paul Bearer) |

This was bound to be another hard-hitting encounter, as the Undertaker refused Kane any part of offense in the opening moments of this match. Stone Cold Steve Austin found himself wounded earlier tonight, but here the "Lord of Darkness" went right at it with the "Big Red Machine" and seemingly searched for an opening in the shiny armour of his brother, Kane. The Brothers of Destruction battled in their third wrestling match ever, Paul Heyman getting involved every now and again, Undertaker grabbing Bearer by the throat just for Kane to attack 'Taker again. The match continued as both men knocked each other down at ringside, the Tombstone Piledriver attempted by both men, but Kane finally tried the Chokeslam just for Cactus Jack to enter the ring, the steel chair shot to Kane!

Winner: Kane @ 5:46 by disqualification [*3/4]

The crowd booed as Cactus Jack had just ruined the main event, Cactus Jack nailing the Double Arm DDT on the "Big Red Machine"! Cactus and The Undertaker then engaged in a war as Cactus clotheslined Undertaker over the top rope, both men trading shots up the rampway, but Undertaker got Cactus up for the Tombstone on the steel ramp just for Jack to reverse and he nailed the Double Arm DDT! The crowd booed loudly as Cactus signalled the 'bang bang' hand motion, the War Zone going off the air.

-A solid promo to promote Kane's WWF Title Match against Austin at the PPV, Over the Edge. Should be a good one. -A big start to the show. This could've main evented, but always a fan of a hot start. Austin going over was expected. -Funk over Pac is decent either way. I have a question....how long were WWF RAW shows back then? -Decent squash win for Bradshaw here tonight. Looking forward to his build... -Gangrel on TV more, I'm looking forward to seeing if something big is for him. Not a fan of him so I'm interested surprisingly. -Kane getting an actual win over Undertaker surprised me. Foley/Taker feud looks to be the way. Can't wait for this feud! -Good show.

THE BRIT REPORT Presented by Mike Potter on Thursday 21th May 1998
-- RAW is WAR was a better show this week, as it opened off pretty strong with a good promo from Paul Bearer and Kane, with basic promotion for Steve Austin and Kane's match at Over the Edge; Steve may actually be able to drag a decent match out of the immobile Kane. Steve Austin was randomly jumped by Jeff Jarrett, but proceeded to have a decent match with one another in a good opening contest. The New Age Outlaws revealed that their ego was massive hence the tag team beatdowns lately, the duo then defeated Al Snow and Steve Blackman with help from Jim Cornette, before being attacked by the Headbangers, Rock 'n' Roll Express and the Nation. All to promote the WWF Tag Team Championship match at Over the Edge. Val Venis' charisma is starting to build, as shown by the comedy skits on RAW. The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust returned and got himself disqualified, Goldust proceeded to shoot on how the Attitude Era is going at the moment, it was a good segment. Maybe too soon for Val to take on though. He should stay with Sable, as she shows off more confidence. Terry Funk cut a damn solid promo about enjoying time before potentially retiring, but it seems likely that he's losing at Over the Edge. Terry Funk then beat X-Pac, Owen Hart again running in and teasing injury on X-Pac's already documented knee. Faarooq beat Rock in a short match by disqualification; not a good match at all. Not looking forward to the match at Over the Edge either. We need to see more D-Lo Brown when he returns from injury. Justin Bradshaw demolished Mr Aguila; didn't do a lot other than kill air time. Bradshaw and Ken Shamrock's feud is innovative only for the psychology in going after Shamrock's hand disabling him from doing much. Gangrel beat Darren Drozdov and then bloodbathed the DOA. It was good to see Gangrel and The Jackyl on RAW again, but they need a long term plan. Triple H cut a weird but nice promo with some actual seriousness involved, putting more thought into the match at Over the Edge. Lastly, The Undertaker and Kane fought in a poor main event after Cactus Jack assaulted both men. Steve Austin was nowhere to be found, and Jack looked like superman pounding away at both of the Brothers of Destruction.
-- I suggest that everybody reading should try and find an episode of WWF Shotgun Saturday Night this past weekend; it featured a cracking WWF Light Heavyweight Championship rematch between Yoshihiro Tajiri and Scorpio. Much better than their RAW is WAR encounter.
-- It has been reported that the World Wrestling Federation wants to hold next year's WrestleMania (XV) at Toronto's new arena. However WCW are also seemingly after that exclusive deal with the new arena that will be built in Toronto, so it's not all that certain currently.
-- WWF RAW is WAR got a 4.7 rating to WCW Monday Nitro's 4.2 rating. The ratings are standing still, even after WCW Slamboree last Sunday.
-- The WWF has Over the Edge: In Your House on 05/31/98. The current card is: - Steve Austin vs Kane for the WWF Championship. - The Undertaker vs Cactus Jack in a Hardcore number one contenders match - Triple H vs Terry Funk in an I Quit match for the WWF European Championship & Terry Funk's career. - Owen Hart vs X-Pac - Ken Shamrock vs Justin Bradshaw for the WWF Intercontinental Championship - The Rock vs Faarooq; no Nation at ringside - The New Age Outlaws vs Kama Mustafa & Mark Henry vs The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs The Headbangers in a four-corner match for the WWF Tag Team Championships - Sable vs Jacqueline in an Evening Gown match
-- In results from WCW Slamboree on 05/17/98: - Fit Finley def. Chris Benoit to retain the WCW World Television title - Lex Luger def. Brian Adams - Ciclope won a cruiserweight battle royal - Dean Malenko def. Chris Jericho to win the WCW World Cruiserweight title - Eddie Guerrero def. Ultimo Dragon - Diamond Dallas Page def. Raven in a Bowery Death match - Goldberg def. Saturn to retain the WCW US Heavyweight title - Bret Hart def. Randy Savage; Roddy Piper as special referee - Sting & The Giant def. The Outsiders to win the WCW World Tag Team titles
-- In results from RAW is WAR on 05/18/98: - Steve Austin def. Jeff Jarrett - The New Age Outlaws def. Al Snow & Steve Blackman - Val Venis def. TAFKA Goldust by DQ - Terry Funk def. X-Pac - Faarooq def. The Rock by DQ - Justin Bradshaw def. Mr Aguila - Gangrel def. Darren Drozdov - Kane def. The Undertaker by DQ
-- In results from Monday Nitro on 05/18/98: - Saturn def. Psychosis - Juventud Guerrera def. Damien - Goldberg def. Glacier - Chris Jericho def. Ciclope - Lex Luger def. Brian Adams - Ultimo Dragon def. Eddie Guerrero

I really thought Double J attacking Austin was random, but it was a cute way to transition into the opening match. Austin winning was obvious. Justin Hawk Bradshaw getting an IC title push is refreshing. The New Age Outlaws winning is no surprise. I really love the idea of feuding Venis and Goldust and you seem to be doing a good job with it. Very happy to see the Funker win - you can really do something special with him. Faarooq winning by disqualification is fine, nothing special. Justin Bradshaw wins! The idea of Sable stripping Jacqueline.. yummy. DX promo was solid. Another disqualification to end the show is so typical. I mean overall you capture the era well.. I just wish it was a little more edgy. It reminds me how bad the attitude era actually was.

| WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 25th May 1998 |

Chattanooga, Tennessee - UTC Arena

A replay from last week's episode of RAW is WAR aired, as Kane and The Undertaker met in a hellacious main event, which Cactus Jack disrupted, taking apart both men. Tonight, Stone Cold Steve Austin does battle with the man he lost to last month on this program, the Undertaker! The opening video package for RAW aired, and we cut to the UTC Arena here in Chattanooga for RAW is WAR! Pyrotechnics went off as Jim Ross and Michael Cole introducing us to the show, promoting Over the Edge in six days!
The theme of Stone Cold Steve Austin hit as the crowd erupted, the WWF Championship making his way to the ring in no time, the "Texas Rattlesnake" posing for the 6,500 in attendance, Austin then taking a microphone and talking about how he's been left out of a war between Cactus Jack, Kane and the Undertaker! Stone Cold talks about how he's had to face all three of the aforementioned in the past two weeks of RAW is WAR, but tonight he means business and he will be kicking the "Lord of Darkness'" holy ass tonight in this ring! Austin mentioned how this Sunday he will do battle with the "Big Red Machine" Kane, and that will be fun because Austin will just keep knocking Kane down over and over again like a bowling pin! Stone Cold then calls Mr McMahon of all people to the ring, as Austin threatens to stay in the ring and postpone RAW is WAR up if McMahon didn't show up, and McMahon finally appeared, armed with two security guards. McMahon revealed that he has called security here to escort Steve out of the UTC Arena until a point where Austin can prepare for his match with the Undertaker. Austin looks annoyed as he talks about how it will take more than two guards to get him out of here. McMahon waves to the back, and ten more came out, Austin having no choice but to be escorted! Austin passed McMahon on the rampway, giving McMahon the two middle-fingers to his face!
-- Commercial Break --
We see Al Snow in the parking lot with Head, as Al seemed to be talking to Head as though it was his companion, Snow talking about how he was tired of being screwed over by Jim Cornette and Jeff Jarrett. Snow asked Head what it meant by 'using him'. Snow said that was a great idea, then talking about how he'd demand a rematch with Jarrett for the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship tonight!
1) Fatal 4-Way Match: Robert Gibson vs Jesse James vs Kama Mustafa vs Mosh |

This was known by announcers as a 'Fatal 4-Way match', as these four men fought in the ring all at the same time, with no disqualifications and count-outs, with one pinfall or submission giving us the winner. The only restriction was interference from a teammate, as these four men represent four teams that will go at it for the WWF Tag Team Championships this Sunday at Over the Edge. Jesse James tried to act cowardly and sit at ringside whilst Robert Gibson and Mosh tried to take down the larger Kama Mustafa in the ring with double-team antics. They finally succeeded as the "Godfather" went down, Mosh and Gibson trading blows and dropkicks, seemingly even on fast-paced agility. Gibson nailed a hurricanrana headscissors and Road Dogg ran in, trying to swipe the win but Mustafa gave Road Dogg the brainbuster! Mosh tried the Stage Dive on the "Godfather" but he powerbombed him, Gibson rolling Mustafa up for the shocking three!

Winner: Robert Gibson @ 5:45 [*3/4]

The crowd cheered as Robert Gibson celebrated his win, rolling out of the ring quickly; one-half of the Rock 'n' Roll Express victory in this Fatal 4-Way match. Jesse James looked up, annoyed as Mosh looked angry; the "Godfather" irate! It was then announced that another of this match will take place later tonight. We catch up with the "Lord of Darkness" with Kevin Kelly, as Kelly asks The Undertaker about his match tonight with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Undertaker mentions how he's beaten the WWF Champion before, and he runs his mouth nice and easy, but when it comes to the "Texas Rattlesnake" trying to sink the venom into the veins of the "Phenom", he will realise how foolish he is. Undertaker states that he will cement his way into the WWF Championship. Undertaker then talked about Cactus Jack, how he annihilated Mick Foley two years ago, and how he will destroy him again at Over the Edge. But tonight, he wishes Cactus luck against Faarooq. A Suspicious occurrence. -- Commercial Break --2) TAKA Michinoku and Scorpio vs Dick Togo and Mens Teioh (w/Yamaguchi) |

Kai En Tai were resuming their feud with the light heavyweight division, as Scorpio was suffering from the defeat of Yoshihiro Tajiri once again last Saturday night on Shotgun, TAKA Michinoku and Dick Togo starting off and both men knew each other so well. Michinoku used some high-flying moves but evened it up with some stiff looking moves, not that much seen from the first ever WWF Light Heavyweight Champion before. Michinoku was soon worked over by Mens Teioh and Dick Togo as they double-teamed Michinoku with a cartwheel DDT, continuing as they could have easily finished Michinoku off at any point, but didn't capitalise. Scorpio got the hot tag, and the former champion dived into the ring, taking down both members of Kai En Tai as Yamaguchi caught his attention, Scorpio trying to grab him but Togo came from behind with a big kick to the back of Scorpio's head! Mens Teioh nailed the running elbow smash on Scorpio for the win.

Winner: Dick Togo and Mens Teioh @ 4:49 [**1/4]

The crowd booed as Dick Togo and Mens Teioh celebrated their win before Mr Aguila hit the ring with Skull and 8-Ball! The Disciples of the Apocalypse seemed once again interested with protecting the light heavyweight division from Kai En Tai as Kai En Tai escaped. We catch up with Triple H, X-Pac and Chyna in the locker room of D-Generation X as Triple H wishes Billy Gunn luck in his match later tonight, requesting that the New Age Outlaws bring the titles home. Triple H spoke to X-Pac about how they can go for Owen Hart any time they want, but they will hunt the "Hardcore Legend" tonight, and it will be violent. The WWF European Champion obviously wanted to weaken Terry Funk before Over the Edge on Sunday. -- Commercial Break --3) Justin Bradshaw vs Val Venis |

This was bound to be interesting as the "Big Valbowski" took on Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, Bradshaw motivated heavily on facing Ken Shamrock and taking his WWF Intercontinental Championship from the "World's Most Dangerous Man", but Val Venis, a talented newcomer to the World Wrestling Federation was undefeated at 5-0, Bradshaw manhandling Venis as the match began but Venis put his fight up, guarding himself from running into a Clothesline From Hell. Mid match Ken Shamrock joined commentary, the IC Champion talking about how Bradshaw broke his hand in three places, but Justin's lucky that he wants a piece of him, because otherwise he'd be getting no title match on Sunday. Val Venis knocked Bradshaw from the top rope as a superplex was attempted, the Money Shot connecting, but the Artist Formerly Known As Goldust climbed into the ring distracting the official, and he low blowed the referee!

Winner: Justin Bradshaw @ 4:22 [**]

Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw had won the match, as Bradshaw got back up and rolled out of the ring, Ken Shamrock hammering Bradshaw repeatedly with his cast! Bradshaw went down as Shamrock then scoop slammed him on the floor with the cast on showing he can wrestle injured. Shamrock faces Bradshaw on Sunday, cast or no cast! An advertisement aired, promoting WWF Over the Edge: In Your House on Sunday night, May 31st, 1998 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin! We returned to RAW as The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust was now in the ring standing over a downed Val Venis as Goldust had a microphone, not wearing his Goldust attire, rather out of costume tonight. Goldust talked about how he was away for two months in the land of extreme, Extreme Championship Wrestling: notice the difference in the name simply? Because good management is putting a man once considered a future WWF Champion into a promotion it is working with and holds shows in tiny, untidy bingo halls! Goldust talks about how he's not a cartoon character, he's a human being, and why Val Venis was allowed on WWF television whilst he wasn't, he doesn't know! Goldust states that he wants an answer from Vince McMahon, then stating that he'd made Val's pathetic career a living hell from now on, Goldust then dropping the microphone on the testicles of Val Venis! -- Commercial Break --The Rock was shown at ringside as the crowd booed, the ever-confident leader of the Nation joining Jim Ross and Michael Cole at ringside for our main event of RAW, Faarooq doing battle with Cactus Jack! 4) Faarooq vs Cactus Jack |

Cactus Jack had some difficulty digging into Faarooq, as the "Lone Gladiator" took on Cactus Jack in a back and forth battle, Faarooq throwing some heavy lefts and rights Cactus' way in the opening moments and nailing a big spinebuster, Cactus seemingly bitten off a bit more than he can chew against this man. Faarooq continued the attack as he began to dig into Cactus with an agile shoulder tackle, taking advantage of Jack before Jack fired out, working on the neck of the "Lone Gladiator". Rock continued to talk trash about Faarooq on commentary as Cactus tried the Double Arm DDT but Faarooq turned it around and nailed the Dominator! Faarooq covered but Rock dragged Faarooq out of the ring; Faarooq with a big right hand to the "Brahma Bull"! The crowd cheered as Cactus applied the Mandible Claw on Faarooq, Faarooq trying to fight it but the Double Arm DDT gave Cactus the win!

Winner: Cactus Jack @ 4:41 [*3/4]

Cactus Jack celebrated his win to boos as Faarooq sat up, not satisfied with The Rock whatsoever. Rock grinned from the rampway as the lights suddenly flickered, Cactus trying to charge up the rampway to avoid altercation with The Undertaker but Undertaker met Cactus right behind the curtain, delivering the Chokeslam on Cactus right on the steel ramp! The crowd roared as RAW went off the air.

The opening video package for the War Zone aired, as we cut to the UTC Arena where pyrotechnics went off and Jim Ross alongside Jerry "the King" Lawler introduced us to the show, promoting what was still to come in the second hour. 5) Hardcore Tag Team Match: Triple H and X-Pac (w/Chyna) vs Terry Funk and Owen Hart |

A collision course as these four men matched it up again, several weeks after their engaging hardcore tag team match at Unforgiven. Triple H and X-Pac were on the domination front, trying to wear down Funk as much as possible as the "Black Hart" seemed to be here to try and keep the match as even as possible, running in to strike whenever Triple H or X-Pac went after the "Hardcore Legend". In what could have been Funk's final appearance on RAW is WAR was a brutal fight as Funk began to give Hunter something unexpected, and that was a flurry of punches and kicks before the fight grew outside of the ring, Funk grabbing a barbwire baseball bat and clouting the WWF European Champion over the head with it! X-Pac and Owen went at it in the ring, X-Pac attempting to leapfrog over Owen but Hart blocked it and applied the Sharpshooter instead! Chyna then ran in with a steel chair, slamming it into the spine of Owen, all legal in this match. X-Pac proceeded to give Owen the X-Factor on the set up chair, but Funk broke it up, giving X-Pac the Piledriver onto the chair! Funk dove out onto Hunter on the floor and Owen scored the three!

Winners: Terry Funk and Owen Hart @ 11:33 [**1/4]

The crowd cheered as Terry Funk and Owen Hart celebrated their win, Chyna attending to Triple H on the floor, and X-Pac slowly rolled out of the ring, D-Generation X will have a fight to put down these two men in their matches this Sunday on pay-per-view! -- Commercial Break --We return to the War Zone as Jacqueline is on her way to the ring wearing a sequenced red evening gown, followed by "Marvelous" Marc Mero, as Jacqueline took the microphone and began to talk about how this Sunday night we are expected to see some nudity. The crowd cheered as Jacqueline told us that it will all be Sable's, as she will rip that evening gown off of her ugly spine and be stripped to her bra and panties! But what if Jacqueline thinks that's not good enough? What if she decides she wants to further humiliate the skank and strip her...naked? Jacqueline states that we will see Sable fully humiliated this Sunday night. 6) Evening Gown vs Tuxedo Match: Jacqueline (w/Marc Mero) vs Tony Anthony |

What an interesting match this was set up to be, Jacqueline wearing her evening gown competing against a man by the likes of Tony Anthony, a local wrestler from here in Chattanooga, wearing a tuxedo. The object of this match was to strip the opponent down to their underwear, and Anthony managed to rip Jacqueline's bottom half off giving everybody an eyeshot of her thong, Jacqueline managing to come back with some incredible toughness, stripping Tony Anthony down to his underwear.

Winner: Jacqueline @ 1:34 [DUD]

Jacqueline celebrated her win as "Marvelous" Marc Mero joined Jacqueline in the ring, Mero with the TKO on the half-naked Tony Anthony! Suddenly, Sable hit the ring to the applause of everybody, diving on Jacqueline and stripping her top half of evening gown off! Marc Mero restrained Sable but Sable low blowed Mero, the Sable Bomb connecting! Sable stood tall as Jackie was humiliated tonight! A vignette aired, promoting the debut of the mysterious Edge. Edge is coming soon to the World Wrestling Federation. -- Commercial Break --We see Al Snow as we are back here on the War Zone, Snow with Head as they enter Commissioner Slaughter's office, Slaughter asking Al what he wants. Snow talks about how Head has been instructing him on what to do, and he advised Al that he should request a rematch for the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship rematch for Over the Edge. Slaughter asks if Snow is actually serious, as Al says yes, Head telling Slaughter that he's feeling really suspicious right now, and Slaughter may get Head if he doesn't give him the match. Slaughter laughs, as he states that Al is a sideshow; thus not deserving of a match with Jeff Jarrett! Snow clouts Slaughter with Head, as asks Slaughter if he's joking now! Slaughter states that that was hard, he could've got a concussion. He tells Snow that he can have the match, but to get out of here before he calls security! 7) Fatal 4-Way Match: Mark Henry vs Billy Gunn vs Thrasher vs Ricky Morton |

The second of fatal 4-way matches tonight here on RAW is WAR, as Robert Gibson surprised everybody earlier tonight with a victory against Kama Mustafa, Jesse James and Mosh. This match was different, as Billy Gunn, Thrasher and Ricky Morton were pretty set to take the "World's Strongest Man" out of the match, Mark Henry managing to fight all three off and even big splash Thrasher in the early moments of this contest, Bad Ass Billy Gunn managing to get Mark out of the equation with a big FameAsser! Thrasher and Ricky Morton then worked together to get the WWF Tag Team Champion out of the match, and the members of the Headbangers and the Rock 'n' Roll Express fought back and forth, Morton with a big hurricanrana and setting up for what appeared to be a moonsault but Billy Gunn ran in and shoved Morton off the top rope! Thrasher jumped up and nailed an enziguri on Gunn but Mark Henry came back in with a big scoop slam and another big splash to Thrasher for the win!

Winner: Mark Henry @ 5:21 [**]

Mark Henry celebrated his win to loud boos as the "World's Strongest Man" stood tall over Thrasher, Billy Gunn sliding out of the ring as the New Age Outlaws seemed to be against all odds going into the fatal four-way tag team match this Sunday at Over the Edge! Outside in the parking lot, we see the "Texas Rattlesnake" storming back and forth as security blocked off the entrance to the UTC Arena, and the Stooges, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco came out to tell them that it's time for Austin to return to the arena. Austin accepted this, then attacking Brisco with a right hand! Austin pushed down several other security members before headed back for the arena, he's facing The Undertaker in several minutes! -- Commercial Break --8) Non-Title Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Undertaker |

The "Texas Rattlesnake" met the "Lord of Darkness" one more time in this hot main event, these two, definitely not the best of friends as the WWF Champion was vying to try and overcome Undertaker, as Austin was unprepared for this match with thanks to the increasing odds against him set by the Chairman of the World Wrestling Federation, Vince McMahon. Austin and Undertaker traded blows before the "Phenom" fought back, delivering some big haymakers and wearing Austin down, connecting with the Old School and slamming Austin on the top turnbuckle, Austin's neck in danger as the "Lord of Darkness" seemed to be setting up for the eventual Tombstone Piledriver. Austin fired back though, blocking the Chokeslam and beginning to pound on 'Taker, going after the shoulder before Austin nailed a big Lou Thesz press off the second rope, Austin relentless on going after the "Deadman"! Austin continued as somehow got out of the Tombstone and nailed the Stunner on 'Taker before Kane appeared through the canvas, the "Big Red Machine" giving a Chokeslam to Austin into the hole!

Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin @ 8:24 by disqualification [**1/4]

The crowd booed as Kane stood tall in the ring, setting off his pyrotechnics, Paul Bearer watching his son from the rampway, and The Undertaker ran straight at his brother! The "Lord of Darkness" and the "Big Red Machine" trading blows as the War Zone went off the air!

- Good opening segment with Austin. - Al Snow being insane and talking to head, haha. He's a good worker though, so a feud with Jarrett seems awesome. - Love Robert Gibson winning the fatal four way, big fans of the Rock n' Roll express. - Nice Undertaker interview, seems like Foley's got some pain coming his way - Can't say I've seen much of Mens Teioh but I'm a big Dick Togo fan. Would have been a great match, and I'm happy with the result. - Lost of stuff going on in Bradshaw vs Val Venis, Shamrock/Bradshaw feud sounds brilliant and Goldust returning out of character is cool. - Never quite understood the raw/war zone thing but a great main event for the first hour I guess. Jack winning makes sense and the Undertaker spot at the end is a great way to... close the show?
- Great start to the second hour with the tag team hardcore match, awesome finish and the whole Triple H/Terry Funk feud is awesome. - What a random tuxedo match, haha. - Edge is coming! - Mark Henry winning makes sense, wouldn't have been right to have the RnR Express win both matches, I was rooting for Billy Gunn though. - Fantastic main event to close the show and a great finish with Kane chokeslamming Steve Austin through the ring then brawling with Taker.
Really fun show, seems like the set up to Over the Edge is taking forever. Looking forward to it though.

The opening segment didn’t really have anything exciting happen at all. It is a shocker to see Robert Gibson get a win. He and Morton don’t fit in with WWF 1998 at all. I really hope you put the title on Bradshaw at the PPV. I’ve really enjoyed the build up of his push. Not surprised to see Cactus get the win. Cool hardcore tag match, but I think Owen has been wrestling in way too many hardcore matches. Obviously a big main event to close out the show. Pretty sweet ending with Kane choke slamming Austin through the hole. Interested in seeing the pay per view, for sure.

THE BRIT REPORT Presented by Mike Potter on Thursday 21th May 1998
-- RAW is WAR featured a lot of general build for Over the Edge this Sunday. An interesting promo from Steve Austin opened the show just promoting his match tonight and on Sunday, Mr McMahon escorting Austin from the arena was bizarre and Austin leaving as simply as that was pretty unbelievable. Should really try and take the boss/employee scenario further. Throughout the night we got Al Snow talking to Head in a homage to Al's persona from ECW where he is maniacal, and later on he used Head to attack Commissioner Slaughter to get a match with Jeff Jarrett, it was pretty entertaining. Robert Gibson beat Kama Mustafa, Jesse James and Mosh in a mediocre fatal four-way match with a weak finish. To think the Rock 'n' Roll Express will win the WWF Tag Team Championships credibly is insane. Dick Togo and Mens Teioh brought some of their Japanese moves to the WWF against TAKA Michinoku and Scorpio in a damn entertaining match. Unfortunately I feel like Kai En Tai are mistreated here. Justin Bradshaw beat Val Venis in an average match. The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust appeared and cut a tasty promo on Val explaining his attack. It was like a worked shoot. Cactus Jack beat Faarooq in a short match thanks to The Rock. Jack was then destroyed by the Undertaker on the rampway. In a decent hardcore tag team match that was inferior to Unforgiven's match, Terry Funk and Owen Hart beat Triple H and X-Pac. The match did feature some original and innovative spots though. Jacqueline stripped an enhancement talent to their underwear in an awful segment. The evening gown match is for entertainment only. Mark Henry beat Billy Gunn, Thrasher and Ricky Morton in an abysmal fatal four-way match (but still superior to the other fatal four-way bout). And in a decent match up until the screwy finish, Stone Cold fought Undertaker to Austin winning by disqualification after Kane got involved, and brawled with 'Taker as the show went off the air.
-- In an interesting position, All Japan have decided that they want to use Kai En Tai's Dick Togo and Mens Teioh on their next tour. In addition to this, they are interested in keeping Vader for the tour, as well as Fatu. Fatu was brought back to the United States because the WWF wanted to fit him into a storyline, but that has apparently been dropped and Fatu has been sent back to All Japan.
-- WWF RAW is WAR tied with WCW Monday Nitro this week with a 4.2 rating.
-- The WWF has Over the Edge: In Your House this Sunday. The current card is: - Steve Austin vs Kane for the WWF Championship. - The Undertaker vs Cactus Jack in a Hardcore number one contenders match - Triple H vs Terry Funk in an I Quit match for the WWF European Championship & Terry Funk's career. - Owen Hart vs X-Pac - Ken Shamrock vs Justin Bradshaw for the WWF Intercontinental Championship - The Rock vs Faarooq; no Nation at ringside - The New Age Outlaws vs Kama Mustafa & Mark Henry vs The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs The Headbangers in a four-corner match for the WWF Tag Team Championships - Jeff Jarrett vs Al Snow for the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship - Sable vs Jacqueline in an Evening Gown match
-- In results from RAW is WAR on 05/25/98: - Robert Gibson def. Jesse James, Mosh & Kama Mustafa - Dick Togo & Mens Teioh def. TAKA Michinoku & Scorpio - Justin Bradshaw def. Val Venis - Cactus Jack def. Faarooq - Terry Funk & Owen Hart def. Triple H & X-Pac in a Hardcore match - Jacqueline def. Tony Anthony in an Evening Gown match - Mark Henry def. The opening segment was okay, a decent way to continue the McMahon/Austin feud. I really don’t care for any of the men involved in the opening contest, but I appreciate why the match happened. TAKA Michinoku and Scorpio vs Dick Togo and Mens Teioh reminds me of how talented yet poorly booked the Light-Heavyweight division was at this time. Bradshaw defeating Venis is fine. I am excited for Shamrock versus Bradshaw. I really love what you are doing with Goldust. Cactus Jack winning the match is fine; Undertaker attacking Jack after the match is better. Funk and Hart defeating Hunter and X-Pac is good. Lame! Screw an Evening Gown versus Tuxedo match. Al Snow can be good. Don’t really care for the second fatal four way match – very much so overkill. I really like Kane appearing through the canvas to cost Undertaker his match against Austin.

| WWF Over the Edge: In Your House - Sunday 31st May 1998 |

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Milwaukee Arena

Time

1 Yoshihiro Tajiri def. Mr Aguila to retain the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship after the Buzzsaw Kick. 4:42

2 Val Venis def. Gangrel by disqualification after The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust attacked Val. 5:10

The opening Attitude Era vignette aired, before we go to a video package focusing around the main event situation, Stone Cold Steve Austin being at odds against the Chairman, Mr McMahon, having to face Cactus Jack, Kane and The Undertaker in back to back weeks. Tonight, Steve Austin defends the WWF Championship against a man he's never been able to defeat, Kane; plus Cactus Jack faces The Undertaker in a brutal Hardcore match. Tonight, somebody goes Over the Edge! A graphic appeared, before bringing us to the live Milwaukee Arena in Wisconsin for Over the Edge: In Your House! Jim Ross and Jerry "the King" Lawler introduce us to the show amongst pyrotechnics.
1) NWA North American Heavyweight Championship Jeff Jarrett (w/Jim Cornette) (c) vs Al Snow |

Al Snow was granted this rematch with Jeff Jarrett last Monday night on RAW is WAR after some threatening from Head to Commissioner Slaughter, as Snow was determined to rectify his loss to "Double J" last month at Unforgiven and overcome the odds of Jim Cornette being at ringside, as well as the recurring problem of the Mid-South Connection being present somewhere in the arena tonight. Snow fired at Jarrett with lefts and rights, the determination coming across strong to the NWA North American Heavyweight Champion as Jarrett soon fled to Cornette at ringside. Jarrett began to get in offense as he went after the knee of Snow though, beginning to drop elbows and knees on it and refusing to give it up as Jarrett had vowed in previous weeks that if he ever got in the ring with Al again, he'd snap his knee like a twig. Jarrett soon got overconfident though, as he began kicking Snow in the back and pinning Snow with a foot on the chest, but that wouldn't put Snow down as expected, the crazy challenger firing back and even going after Jim Cornette just for Jarrett to attack from behind. Snow soon attempted the Snow Plow on Jarrett but Jarrett landed on his feet, nailing a suplex of his own before strutting around, planning the Figure-Four Leglock just for Al to turn it around, Jarrett in pain as he almost tapped, instead grabbing onto Cornette's hands! Snow soon grabbed Cornette, laying him out with a right hand before the Mid-South Connection ran to ringside, Bart Gunn jumping on the apron; Bob Holly at ringside, running into the ring at Al just for Snow to lay him out with Head! Snow gave Jarrett Head before UFC star, Dan Severn appeared, giving Snow a massive belly-to-back piledriver! Severn rolled out of the ring as the official turned around, Jarrett hooking the leg for three!

Winner and STILL NWA North American Heavyweight Champion: Jeff Jarrett (c) @ 9:44 [**1/4]

Jeff Jarrett was helped up by Dan Severn as the crowd booed with fury, Jim Cornette climbing into the ring as well as the Mid-South Connection, all of them holding Jarrett above their head as victorious NWA North American Heavyweight Champion! Jarrett, Bart Gunn, Bob Holly, Jim Cornette and Dan Severn were then caught up with by Michael Cole as Cole asked what brought UFC fighter Dan Severn to the World Wrestling Federation. Cornette said that it was simple, he is home to many fighting champions, or in the Mid-South Connection's case, fighting champions in the making. He calls it his 'Dynasty', and Severn is a mere addition! Together they will dominate, and with Cornette's guidance, they will be unstoppable. In the backstage area we see Mick Foley walking into the arena wearing his suit, and Kevin Kelly caught up with Foley, Kelly asking Foley what his thoughts were at this time going into his battle with The Undertaker tonight. Foley said that tonight we'd be getting a little medieval, especially on the "Lord of Darkness". He said that he was a rival of the "Deadman", and has been for two years, since his debut. But tonight, Foley will show no mercy on the Undertaker's undead bunghole! Foley seemed serious as he left to get ready. A replay from the WWF Free 4-All aired, which was live on the Preview Channel just before this pay-per-view went on the air for free, as it was Yoshihiro Tajiri defending the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship against Mr Aguila, as Tajiri finished Aguila off with the Buzzsaw Kick. But also on the Free 4-All, Val Venis defeated Gangrel, giving Gangrel his first defeat here in the World Wrestling Federation but only by disqualification, another attack from The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust made. The theme of the Artist Formerly Known As Goldust hit, as the crowd booed, Goldust making his way out to the ring slowly, not wearing his Goldust attire, but rather quite an out of character appearance tonight at Over the Edge. Jim Ross noted that this was quite unexpected as Goldust was not scheduled to make an appearance at all tonight. Goldust climbed in the ring where a trash can stood, Goldust holding his golden attire, microphone in hand. Goldust talked about how for too long he's played the mind games of the World Wrestling Federation Chairman. He was once one of the best wrestlers in the world, averaging four star matches with some of the best. And the saddest part is, it was in Atlanta. The crowd booed at the WCW reference, as Goldust said that when he signed with the WWF, he felt that he had potential, but Vince McMahon wanted him to put on the golden attire, and act like a raging homosexual! Goldust reminded us that this was not him. He was in ECW, where barely anybody gave a damn about him there. He fought hardcore matches with people like Balls Mahoney and New Jack as if it was skill. Beating people up with weapons and setting people on fire, as well as falling from great heights is not art. It's not wrestling! Goldust talks about how tonight we see Goldust die, because he was only here as one man: Dustin Runnels! Runnels tossed the Goldust attire in the trash can before putting lighter fluid on it; Dustin Runnels setting it on fire! The crowd booed as he left. 2) Evening Gown Match Jacqueline (w/Marc Mero) vs Sable |

This was a first, the evening gown match here to perhaps show off a ravishing side to these two women of the World Wrestling Federation, as Sable and Jacqueline have been rivals for a long time, dating back to when Sable was trying to make her marriage with "Marvelous" Marc Mero work again. Sable was cheated on by Mero on Valentine's Day with Jacqueline, and the two have been a couple ever since. Jacqueline has had somewhat experience in this match type, having defeated Tony Anthony last week on RAW is WAR in an evening gown vs tuxedo match, just for Sable to run in and strip Jacqueline of her gown. The two rolled around on the floor in the early goings of this match as Mero stood at ringside yelling verbal abuse at his ex-wife, Sable, Sable managing to rip some of the gown off of Jacqueline, but Jacqueline had a second gown underneath!? Jacqueline managed to suddenly rip the bottom half of the gown of Sable off, revealing her rear end, and the match continued with Sable managing to rip the top gown of Jacqueline off! Sable went after the second but Jackie managed to get away, but Sable soon nailed the Sable Bomb on Jacqueline! She went after the gown of Jackie when Marc Mero dashed in from behind, removing the gown of Sable's over her head!

Winner: Jacqueline @ 2:18 [1/4]

Jacqueline celebrated her win as Sable covered herself up before showing herself off, kicking Marc Mero in the gut and giving him the Sable Bomb! Jacqueline then tackled Sable from behind, trying to remove the bra of Sable!? Sable and Jacqueline fought to the floor where they rolled under the apron, and after a minute, Sable resurfaced with the bra and panties of Jacqueline in her hands! Sable had left Jacqueline naked under the ring, as Marc couldn't do anything to help Jacqueline out! A limousine pulled up, and Stone Cold Steve Austin stepped out, the WWF Champion making his way into the Milwaukee Arena, and what a night he had ahead of him! In the backstage area we go to Michael Cole who is standing by with D-Generation X, Triple H leading X-Pac, Chyna and the New Age Outlaws as Triple H talked about how tonight, they are going to go three for three because they are that damn good. X-Pac began to talk about how in recent weeks he's been brought to the canvas and locked in the Sharpshooter; well that's good and all, but tonight we will watch the "Black Hart" rive in pain himself! The New Age Outlaws talked about how tonight seems to be all about being against all odds. They're against all odds, but with the Road Dogg Jesse James and the Bad Ass Billy Gunn, nobody will be able to lay a finger on their WWF Tag Team Championships! Triple H talked about how he has the task of ending the career of Terry Funk tonight. And it will be a hard fought battle. But he will kill the legend of hardcore tonight. X-Pac tells us to suck it before they head off. 3) X-Pac (w/Chyna) vs Owen Hart |

A hard-fought battle was expected here, two of the hardest working superstars in the World Wrestling Federation competing for supremacy, the "Black Hart" Owen Hart being very tired of battling D-Generation X week after week after week, and tonight he finally got his hands on the degenerate, X-Pac. X-Pac's leg was the target of Owen as it was braced up, the "Black Hart" managing to bring X-Pac down to the canvas for Owen to try and apply the Sharpshooter many times, just for X-Pac to slide out of it. Chyna at ringside served a perfect distraction for the DX member, X-Pac getting in cheap kicks when Chyna had the referee distracted. The match continued as Owen fired away at X-Pac, beginning to apply other submissions and Owen soon applied the Sharpshooter around the ring post! The crowd cheered as X-Pac tried to walk away from Hart, but Owen kept grabbing him and bringing him back to the ring, Chyna soon getting into the ring as Owen tried the Sharpshooter again, Owen applying the Sharpshooter on Chyna but X-Pac roundhouse kicked Owen in the back of head and X-Pac applied a boston crab, Owen now in pain as X-Pac refused to let go. But he did eventually, Owen managing to near the ropes and X-Pac put the boots to the "Black Hart". He began the crotch chop and gave Owen the ever-insulting Bronco Buster, the crowd booing furiously as he then dropped a knee into the shoulder of Owen, beginning to work over the shoulder now. The match took a technical term as X-Pac avoided using his documented leg on Owen, X-Pac with a dragon sleeper applying the grapevine before X-Pac took upon himself to apply the Buzzkiller, a chicken wing crossface which had Owen in pain, this move not seen since the days of Mr Bob Backlund. Owen soon powered out of it, as he ran X-Pac into the top rope, Owen recovering and X-Pac suddenly came off the top with a moonsault! X-Pac decided that enough was enough at that moment, preparing for the X-Factor just for Owen to drop on his knees with a jawbreaker block on X-Pac! Owen nailed an inverted tombstone piledriver before setting up the Sharpshooter, and he had it applied! X-Pac had nowhere to go, as Chyna tried to run into the ring just for Owen to give her the spinebuster! X-Pac was locked in the Sharpshooter again, and X-Pac finally tapped!

Winner: Owen Hart @ 13:20 [**3/4]

Owen Hart celebrated his win as the crowd cheered, Chyna about to swing at Owen in the back of the skull, but the "Black Hart" spotted her and stared her down. Owen turned around to get X-Pac with the spinning heel kick! X-Pac stood tall with the "Ninth Wonder of the World", leaving despite the loss. We go to the Chairman, Mr McMahon as he was with Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco, the trio talking about how they're excited about tonight, because they'd finally have the WWF Championship from around the waist of that idiot, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Brisco agreed as he talked about how The Undertaker has been getting quite out of hand recently, and to be honest he hopes we see Mick Foley follow up and annihilate that son of a bitch! McMahon agrees, as the trio head off to find Kane and Paul Bearer. We go to Kevin Kelly with The Rock, as the Nation were standing by Kevin Kelly, Kelly asking Rock about his thoughts just moments before he challenges Faarooq one on one, asking if he is worried about all of the history between the two when they were co-leaders in the Nation. Rock talks about how he doesn't care whether him and Faarooq are enemies or best friends for life, if he wants to step in the ring with the "Great One" so be it, Rock was here to finally put an end to this idiot, because Faarooq was just cramping his style! "The Godfather" took over, Kama Mustafa talking about how it's about "The Godfather" and "Sexual Chocolate", and by the end of tonight, we'd have new WWF Tag Team Champions!

This was a match with a lot of history, a lot of bad blood built up over the last year and a half with thanks to The Rock's growing egotistical nature, as the "Brahma Bull" got so confident that he outcast Faarooq from the Nation of Domination; Faarooq's group was no longer his, and Faarooq snapped and cost Rock the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Rock went into this one with plenty of lefts and rights, the agility of the "Great One" coming out and going off on the original Nation leader, the "Lone Nation" Faarooq countering one of Rock's running attempts into the spinebuster and Faarooq could have easily finished Rock right there if not for Rock rolling out of the ring. But Faarooq was relentless, following Rock out of the ring and slamming his head into the steel steps and continuing the offence on the "Great One". Faarooq would not let Rock have a minute of control as Rock was in trouble, Faarooq setting him up for the Dominator just for Rock to break out and dive at Faarooq with the flying clothesline. Rock stomped at Faarooq and began to work over the "Lone Nation", the leader of the Nation then going after the head of Faarooq, applying the Sharpshooter just for Faarooq to break out of it, Rock heading for the Rock Bottom but Faarooq overpowered and nailed a T-bone suplex! Faarooq nailed the Dominator, getting two as Rock somehow put his foot on the bottom rope! The match continued as Rock recovered, finding a pair of brass knuckles underneath the ring apron as Rock jumped up and slammed them into the forehead of Faarooq! Rock set up for the People's Elbow, and it connected, covering for the three!

Winner: The Rock @ 8:29 [**]

The crowd booed as The Rock celebrated his win, hiding the brass knuckles in his trunks, the leader of the Nation celebrated his job single handedly as he had defeated the former leader, Faarooq without the Nation's assistance. A graphic appeared, promoting the next WWF pay-per-view event, King of the Ring, live on Sunday, June 28th 1998 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania featuring the King of the Ring tournament. We went to Kevin Kelly as he was with the "Lord of Darkness" The Undertaker, Kelly grabbed by the throat as Undertaker grabbed him by the throat and told the 'corporate suckup' to go back to Vince and tell him he doesn't appreciate this. He talks into the camera about how he's been left in the dark for so long, Vince doesn't care about him. He states that he will annihilate the biggest bottom-feeding curse in this blessed World Wrestling Federation, Mick Foley, and he will suffer an eternity. Undertaker stormed off. A video package aired, reminding us of the backstory between The Undertaker and Mick Foley, as Mick Foley gave in and became the man of the action for Mr McMahon and his corporate stooges, Mick Foley possessing a split personality and taking out Stone Cold Steve Austin, even coming close to winning the WWF Championship at Unforgiven. The Undertaker defeated Austin on RAW is WAR but was given nothing. Tired of being ignored, the "Deadman" came for Foley, reshowing Foley's hardcore personality. And tonight, both men compete for the attention of the Chairman. 5) Hardcore Match The Undertaker vs Mankind |

This had all of the potential of a war between two men, as Mick Foley had decided not to go with the Cactus Jack personality tonight, instead wearing brown tights with his suit shirt and tie, and the Mankind mask, as he went right at the "Lord of Darkness", trading blows with the Undertaker, Undertaker the man that Mankind first arrived in the World Wrestling Federation to face and attempt to destroy. Mankind tried to make Undertaker submit to defeat, turned Paul Bearer against him, and tried to bury him alive back in 1996. But here tonight, it was about these two trying to get the Chairman of the WWF's attention. Undertaker took the fight to Mankind outside the ring, the fight then going into the crowd as 'Taker took one of the guard railing and simply threw it over the head of Mick Foley, Mankind firing back as he used the lid of the announce table and started battering the "Deadman" with it. Undertaker found himself in trouble though, as Mankind dove off the apron with an axe handle, the guard railing over the top of 'Taker! 'Taker seemed hurt and defenseless as the fight resumed, Mankind applying the Mandible Claw, 'Taker with a low blow and he tossed him into the steel steps, the match continuing further as the "Phenom" fired back, giving Mankind a big spinebuster onto the bottom set of the ring steps! Undertaker continued, showing Mankind no mercy but Mankind of course seemed to love the pain. The match went up the aisleway as Mankind raked the eyes of 'Taker, delivering a piledriver onto the top of an equipment crate on the aisleway, Mankind seemed laying 'Taker on top of a pyrotechnics tube, Mankind then headed over to the technology section of the aisleway and trying to set the pyrotechnics off on the "Deadman"! But 'Taker somehow dodged it at the last second and 'Taker and Mankind's trading of blows continued again. Mankind cut 'Taker open above the eyelid using a right hand, 'Taker gushing blood before Mankind prepared the piledriver on the "Lord of Darkness" on the concrete floor, removing the ringside mats just for 'Taker to back drop him on top of the concrete! 'Taker then grabbed a steel chair and slammed it into the ribs and the spine of Mankind repeatedly, Mankind running away from it back into the ring. Mankind grabbed a sledgehammer and nailed 'Taker in the gut with it, Mankind with another blow with it into the face with the wooden section! Mankind applied the Mandible Claw again but 'Taker grabbed Mankind by the throat, it all legal in this match, and 'Taker nailed the Chokeslam on Mankind! But Mankind refused to release the Mandible Claw, and 'Taker started fading! Mankind started getting back up as the "Deadman" was fading, the official counting 'Taker's shoulders but he kicked out again! Mankind would not allow 'Taker to remain kicking out, and so he grabbed a cheese grater from underneath the ring apron of all weapons, climbing into the ring and grating the forehead of the "Phenom", widening the cut! 'Taker started overpowering Mankind at that moment as Mankind went for a right hand just for 'Taker to flip him upside down, nailing the Tombstone Piledriver! Undertaker hooked the arms and Pat Patterson jumped in!? 'Taker stood in shock to Patterson, Patterson grabbed by the throat and given the Chokeslam, but Mankind came from behind with the Mandible Claw, Mankind making 'Taker fade, and 'Taker collapsed onto a steel chair, getting the three count!

Winner: Mankind @ 16:52 [***]

The crowd booed as Mankind slowly stumbled to his feet, using the ring ropes for leverage, as he had defeated the "Lord of Darkness"! Mankind helped Pat Patterson up as The Undertaker was down, out and bloodied, Mankind victorious in this hard-hitting encounter. In the backstage area Michael Cole is shown with the WWF Intercontinental Champion, Ken Shamrock as Cole asks the "World's Most Dangerous Man" what his strategy will be when one of his hands are covered in plaster. Shamrock talks about how his cast has been legalised by the World Wrestling Federation board of directors, and tonight, Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw will find himself in trouble for ticking the Intercontinental Champion off! Shamrock promised that once his hand is recovered, he will seriously injure the so-called "Western Outlaw". 6) WWF Intercontinental Championship Ken Shamrock (c) vs Justin Hawk Bradshaw |

This was almost a handicap match in this one on one situation, as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw had full capability of his body and attacks, whereas Ken Shamrock was not able to use one of his hands due to suffering a broken hand thanks to the number one contender, Bradshaw. The "World's Most Dangerous Man" did however fire at Justin with several lefts and rights, using his cast to hit instead as Shamrock was out to seriously weaken Bradshaw to perhaps the point of no return. Shamrock caught Bradshaw off guard with the belly-to-back suplex, but Justin kicked out of the pinfall attempt, the "Western Outlaw" beginning to gain momentum and even start ripping the cast off! Bradshaw kicked the hand of Shamrock as he tried to ensure the WWF Intercontinental Champion wouldn't be able to do anything with a weak hand. But the courageous champion kept fighting, managing to apply a one-handed armbar but Bradshaw rolled Shamrock up and punched him twice in the face, Bradshaw then setting up for the Clothesline From Hell, Shamrock leapfrogged and dropkicked Bradshaw down! Bradshaw came right back up though and the match continued, Bradshaw at ringside and taking advantage, shoving Shamrock into the steps, bad hand first! Bradshaw decided not to allow Shamrock to do much at all, but Shamrock decided that enough was enough, slamming Bradshaw in the face with the title!

Winner: Justin Bradshaw @ 6:06 by disqualification, STILL WWF Intercontinental Champion, Ken Shamrock [*3/4]

The crowd booed at the disappointment, but Ken Shamrock did the right thing avoiding Justin Bradshaw injuring him perhaps indefinitely. The WWF Intercontinental Champion then grabbed Bradshaw and gave him a big belly-to-back suplex on the floor, the "World's Most Dangerous Man" getting some fanfare at least despite losing! A video package aired, commemorated to the career of the legendary Terry Funk, and tonight his career is on the line, but at what cost? The WWF European Championship. A vignette aired, promoting the debut of the mysterious Edge. We return to Mr McMahon with Gerald Brisco in the backstage area as they enter the locker room of the "Big Red Machine" Kane. Kane was stood with Paul Bearer, Bearer asking McMahon what he wants, in Kane's moment of meditation before the WWF Championship match. McMahon says that he knows that he's been focusing, tonight especially, but he wants to tell Bearer that he's going to officiate the main event tonight! Bearer grinned as McMahon revealed that there will be no interference from the Undertaker, from Mick Foley, it's all on the Chairman's back. Bearer thanks McMahon for informing him, it will be a fine night. 7) WWF Tag Team Championship: Fatal Four-Way Match The New Age Outlaws (c) vs Kama Mustafa and Mark Henry vs The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs The Headbangers |

This was bound to be a barnburner and that it was, the New Age Outlaws definitely against all odds as they stated earlier tonight, the first fall in this match won the WWF Tag Team Championships, and two men were in the ring at a time. The Headbangers and the Rock 'n' Roll Express seemed to match it up and team up in similar to a four-on-four situation, against the brawlers, the New Age Outlaws and the Nation members. Mark Henry overpowered everybody in this match, giving Road Dogg Jesse James the Big Splash early in this match, "Sexual Chocolate" and "The Godfather" showcasing their confidence as they had every right to be. Mosh and Robert Gibson soon managed to get in control though, double teaming Kama Mustafa, but suddenly their alliance was broken as they realised only one team could get the fall and become champions. Ricky Morton and Thrasher mixed it up, also getting involved as Billy Gunn tried to dodge what was going on in the ring, sticking to ringside with Jesse James. Both men soon got involved definitely, Road Dogg with the Pumphandle Drop on Thrasher! Kama Mustafa gave Road Dogg the brainbuster as he then kicked Billy Gunn in the gut, Thrasher with a hurricanrana to Kama. Mosh soon came in with the Stage Dive but Mark Henry caught him with the powerbomb, and Billy Gunn then came off the top rope with the FameAsser! Gunn had Henry down, going for the win but Ricky Morton dropkicked Gunn back! Jesse James grabbed Morton by the hair and tossed him out, James covering for the three!

Winners and STILL WWF Tag Team Champions: The New Age Outlaws @ 8:08 [**]

The crowd booed as the New Age Outlaws celebrated their win, sliding out of the ring quickly as they ran from the charging Headbangers, Billy Gunn and Jesse James once again successful in proving themselves as the WWF Tag Team Champions! In the backstage area we see Terry Funk sat down with Jim Ross, an interview from earlier today as J.R. asks Funk what his thoughts are going into tonight, and his mindstate. Funk told J.R. that he was really past the point of caring about if he wins or loses. If he wins, he wins. If he loses, he loses. But tonight means a lot to him. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. It's better to risk it all for something you love. And that is why tonight he competes for the WWF European Championship, putting his career on the line. He's watched Triple H grow from the bottom of the WWF roster to becoming one of the top guys. Funk states that he once respected him, but he's got a massive ego from D-Generation X, and tonight, there'll be no Chyna. No New Age Outlaws. No X-Pac. It's him and Triple H, and Funk will be kicking his lights out without a doubt. 8) WWF European Championship vs Terry Funk's Career: I Quit Match Triple H (c) vs Terry Funk |

And so this was it, Terry Funk putting his career on the line against the WWF European Champion. Not only the European Champion, but one of the biggest rising stars in the World Wrestling Federation tonight. To Terry Funk, this was more than a standard loss now. This was personal to him, to win WWF gold and get somewhere, rather than allow D-Generation X and Triple H to walk all over him. Funk's career at stake, he went into this against odds as it was, an I Quit match with no injury on Hunter, but Funk vulnerable. Funk just went firing lefts and rights in Hunter's direction, Triple H having to run from the "Hardcore Legend", Funk an inspirational figure, giving Triple H a DDT like he was in his prime. Funk gave Hunter a spinebuster as though it was Terry's first World title match in the NWA. Funk just kept firing at Triple H, showing no remorse for the leader of DX at all. Funk was then kicked in the gut as Triple H suplexed Funk, the Funker down and Triple H quickly took advantage, working on the forehead of Funk trying to make him bleed like in his classic matches. Triple H then went for the knee of Funk, dropping knees on it and refusing to stop. Hunter was doing exactly what his name intended, hunting the old lion as the young lion was now the animal trying to prove itself to its old master. Triple H applied an Indian deathlock, then stomping on the knee once again, but Funk didn't exactly feel like saying I Quit now. Funk fired back as he yelled at the official to ask Hunter if he wanted to quit, Triple H deciding not to, but Funk wasn't satisfied with this, Funk nailing two German suplexes before preparing a Piledriver, it connecting and down went the WWF European Champion! Funk applied the Boston crab as Hunter was locked in the hold, but Triple H decided that now wasn't the time. Funk grabbed Hunter's back and pulled him underneath the ring post, then trying to stretch him like an accordion around the ring post, almost like a horizontal Mexican surfboard, Funk continuing as he once again belted Triple H. Funk grabbed a leather strap and applied it to Triple H's wrists, tied to the ring post, and Funk had another strap, whipping Hunter repeatedly! Triple H rived in agony, his spine covered in red wounds from the strap, but Triple H did not want to quit! Hunter got out of the strap-cuffs, Triple H applying a variation of a single-legged Boston crab, planting his knee into the upper spine of Funk as well as the back of the cranium! Funk was in total pain but Hunter refused to release it until Funk's let go; Funk refusing! Funk somehow managed to reverse it, then attempting to get to his feet but Triple H immediately gave him the DDT! The WWF European Champion nailed a Pedigree, then applying the single legged crab again, Funk not giving up, not giving up yet! Funk soon passed out in agony, the pain too much as the crowd booed so loudly.

Winner and STILL WWF European Champion: Triple H @ 12:12 [**3/4]

Triple H celebrated his win amongst boos, the WWF European Champion getting to his feet after such a battering in this match. The official handed Hunter his WWF European Championship as D-Generation X had gone two for three tonight. Triple H taunted Terry Funk and left, as Funk slowly regained consciousness, Funk stumbling to his feet but falling twice, Funk shoving officials away and standing up, the fans in Milwaukee giving him a loud applause! Funk bowed to the fans before leaving, his career in the World Wrestling Federation over for now. We see Stone Cold Steve Austin in the backstage area as Michael Cole tried to talk to him, the "Texas Rattlesnake" stating that tonight was the night that we'd see three asses kicked; Vince McMahon, Kane, and if he really pisses the WWF Champion off, Paul Bearer! Austin talked about how he didn't drive out to Milwaukee to be screwed over, in fact he didn't come to Milwaukee to disappoint, he'd be here to whip somebody's ass, and that's the bottom line because Stone Cold said so! A video package aired, reviewing Mr McMahon's animosity with the WWF Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold was the champion that Vince McMahon did not want representing the World Wrestling Federation, in fact Austin defied everything that McMahon wanted out of the WWF Champion of his ideal preference. Austin defeated Mick Foley last month at Unforgiven against the odds of Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson as Austin defeated Foley twice. On the road to Over the Edge, Austin had to fight The Undertaker, Kane and Mick Foley in back to back weeks, but in the making, the "Big Red Machine" Kane, a man that has defeated Austin twice and Austin cannot beat won a contenders match, and tonight we will see how the "Big Red Machine" does! 9) WWF Championship Match Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs Kane (w/Paul Bearer) |

The "Texas Rattlesnake" had quite a weight on his back here, as it was bad enough that he had been unable to defeat Kane in the past, and that tonight he actually beat the "Big Red Machine", but also the fact that Mr McMahon was the special guest referee, and Stone Cold Steve Austin did not trust him whatsoever. Steve Austin went right at it with Kane in the opening minute, but Kane somehow caught him with a sidewalk slam, Kane being invincible almost, pounding at Austin and firing away with fierce lefts and rights. Kane did not give Austin that much of an opportunity as the "Texas Rattlesnake" just kept coming back at the "Big Red Machine". Austin soon decided that he couldn't get Kane down fairly, and shrugged, 'accidentally' clotheslining Mr McMahon! Austin left the ring and grabbed a steel chair but Kane met him on the floor, Kane with a snake's eyes onto the ring apron, Kane then grabbing the steel steps and ramming them into the face of Austin! The WWF Champion was down as Austin was defenseless, Kane dragging Stone Cold back into the ring as Kane covered Austin just for Stone Cold to kick out once more! Kane set up for the Tombstone Piledriver but Austin slipped out, Austin attempting the Stunner just for Kane to run him into a big clothesline! McMahon was groggy still as he routed for Kane, definitely biased in this, but nobody could do a thing because he was the boss! Austin was down as Kane seemed to take no interest in quickly swiping the victory, rather stalling and letting Stone Cold suffer. Kane grabbed Austin by the throat but refused to release the hold, Austin struggling and Vince turned the other way! Kane nailed the Chokeslam and covered, but Vince told Kane to give Stone Cold more hell! Kane went for the Tombstone Piledriver but Austin slipped out and delivered the Stunner! Kane fell through the ropes and McMahon clotheslined Austin! McMahon rang the bell as the crowd booed, the Chairman having just ended this match by disqualfication!

Winner: Kane @ 13:15 by disqualification; STILL WWF Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin [**1/4]

The crowd booed as Mr McMahon stood tall when the lights went out, and when the lights returned The Undertaker was there, attacking Kane at ringside! Undertaker gave Kane the Chokeslam through the Spanish announce table as the "Lord of Darkness" hit the ring, running Mr McMahon out of the ring! Undertaker stood tall before grabbing Steve Austin by the throat, shoving him down, Undertaker posing as Over the Edge went off the air!

WWF Raw is War 5/25/98 Alright, Over the Edge this Sunday. Austin not even throwing a punch is the exact opposite of his character. Kind of a pointless promo here. Robert Gibson winning what would be a pretty lackluster fatal four way is a disappointing. Man, Morton and Gibson just were a waste of space in 98. I pray you keep the straps away from them. Great Light Heavyweight match. Keep this division relevant, please. It would be nice to have good in-ring matches on Raw with these guys, but you've been doing a good job of that so far. Not a bad win for Bradshaw. I see Shamrock retaining his title without a doubt, though. LOVED the Goldust promo. Lone Gladiator is bad ass nick name. Really short Raw main event. Great feud advancement with Foley and Taker. Funk and Hart winning was best, as it gives Funk a chance at beating Hunter this Sunday at Over the Edge. Waltman and Hart put on a good at match IRL at KOTR, so I expect nothing else at OTE. Edge saved this part of the show. Jacqueline stripping a jobber to his under wear probably sent the crowd dead silent. Man, I love Al Snow. He's a great character, and he can play off himself, which is awesome. Mark Henry with the win in another fatal four way is decent, I guess. Huge main event, Kane chokeslamming Austin to "hell" is awesome. Good close to the show. Not a bad show, some high points and low points.
Over the Edge Shame the Lightweight match didn't make it onto the card. It is stacked, though. Oh poop, it's Dan Severn! Cornette's stable is huge. I like it. Great Goldust promo.Women being stripped down to their body? Vintage Attitude Era. Glad Hart and X-Pac got a decent amount of time in the ring. Nice post-match attack from Sean. No shocker with The Rock picking up the win. I could see Rock winning King of the Ring, if I'm honest. Foley being Makind only re-assures my belief that you are going with HIAC at King of the Ring. Glad that Mankind picked up the win, even though I see Taker winning their next battle, if there is one. Not so sold on Shamrock getting himself DQ'd. At least it keeps Shamrock with the strap without hurting Bradshaw. That is great and not so great booking in one match. Mind f**k. Happy to see The Outlaws retain their tag titles. I have no idea who can take them, at the moment. No strong faces teams active at this time. I Quit match sounded great, and was the perfect match type for Funk to "retire." I'm pretty sure Funk isn't done, but I bet EWR is having him retire in June. Big main event. I hated when the main events ended by DQ back in the Attitude Era. Stone Cold not standing tall to end the show is different. Maybe there won't be a HIAC match, and perhaps a Fatal Four Way? Interesting, many things you can do right now. It was a great PPV for back in 98, I can say that. It had a pretty strong under card. Good stuff, can't wait for King of the Ring.
