just wondering if anyone at their job gets awards or notes of congratulations of how of a good job you do?
i work for a grocery company called safeway (in may going onto 7yrs with the company) im a courtesy clerk bag groceries, clean, push carts ect
we used to have a front end manager who would give you 5 dollars for lunch or a gift card (starbucks or some where to eat) the other day in the break room got a thank you letter from the president (of the safeway business) because i made a customers day (they said i was their favorite courtesy clerk because of my smile)

I use to work at a "slaveway" lol. Actually it was a local Chicago grocery store which ended up being bought out by Safeway.
Before the safeway buyout the company was very generous to us. We would have partys every month for birthdays, and holidays. We'd get nice Xmas bonuses. But once Safeway bought it everything changed.
No one seemed to care about the employees. They were constantly on people to, Smile, greet, and offer help. I remember not liking safeway at all. They closed stores, got rid of most of the employees, and demanded more of everyone. Under the old store management I was a clerk, stocking shelves. Under the new management they ran the business into the ground. They couldnt afford the employees so everyone was cross trained in different departments. Safeway took the company closed about 90% of the stores. Eventually they offered us higher seniority employees buyouts for our contracts. I took it and left. I worked there 9 years.
So...
Under the old Management I felt VERY appreciated
Under Slaveway management I felt disrespected constantly.
Since then I got a job which gives us Bonuses of 500 dollars a month for doing a good job and being on time. It makes me feel very appreciated.

I'm the fastest at what I do at my work. I'm not trying to claim I am great... but I am, and I think they know that.

I Work at walmart overnight as a cashier with 5 other women who dont really do anything, Both of the Front-End managers are women so they gave me a really hard time at first but i think they have slowly learned that im really the only one that will do any of the hard work so most of the time i always get my 40 hours and pretty good pay.

No. I'm a teacher. Nobody respects or appreciates teachers.
-The kids hate us because they don't want to be there. -The parents hate us because they think it's our jobs to raise their kids, not teach them. -Our administrations and Unions throw us under the bus to make budgets. -Our politicians think our jobs are interchangeable and think that class size doesn't matter, and when the budget doesn't sync up, we are the first to get fired.

Lol you must not be a very good teacher if you yourself didnt learn there is no money to be made in teaching. I hated all of my teacher in H.S., not because I didnt want to be there but because they all seemed soo lazy and useless.

I've hated every job I've ever had, until I went into buisness for myself. Being self employed is the best job in the world

One job I work as a filing person for work "study" at the district office for the public schools here. I received a whole smoked turkey at Christmas time. They don't care what I wear, when I work, how I work, or anything. Just that when I work, I get sh*t done, and do it well. Which I do. I hate the job because it bores me to sleep, but they pay me and like me.
My other job is as a stagehand. I worked for a local company starting in 08 and work off and on(mostly in summer due to school) for them still. During school I work for the college promotions group doing the same work, $2 less an hour, but the other group can't hire college students due to our commitments to school. I've done this since 08 and am well known to work my ass off and do literally anything when asked. Few shows back I was asked to spot-op. Never did it before, but I did it anyway and I didn't fail too terribly. Since I basically saved that show, the head of this group is very aware of me and pushes me to apply for a higher position with regular hours. I don't have much incentive outside of being the first on call sheets and being given show call to earn extra hours. Also free food is always a plus.
That and the weird things artists do when they meet you, always fun. Watching Dave Matthews eat pretend food in catering? Awesome. His tour manager insisting you and the 4 other deck hands eat whole lobsters and split 2 pies? Even awesomer.

Astonishing, I know. That would be both me and my wife. I'm a salesman for a distributing company, with a new vp who changed up our pay. We all took a pay cut, but with the new re-route, I actually like my route. Fyi, my wife is also a teacher.
