They were really $16.99 each? Seems to be a very high price for the late 80's?!?

I would agree that was high. If you could find them in the stores, they were less. If not, you had to order them.

But they couldn't be found in the stores...not much here in the US. Since Grand Toys took over them in the last series, they were most sold in the mail away offer. However Grand Toys is a Canadian company so they may have been in toy stores up there. I live in Michigan so I couldn't say if they were in stores in canada. but from what everyone is saying they were. Crazy

Man, those ads were cool. I remember getting really excited when I saw the ad for the '89 figures!! If only Haku was released in those colors WITH the crown, it would've been SO much better than the one we did get. We got "The Islander" Haku instead of "King" Haku. The detail on the crown is awesome. I really wish we could've got that version of Haku. I wonder if anyone out there has this prototype of King Haku with the crown... this is the reason why I made my CS King Haku to look like the LJN Haku: errr...works for me? on a side note.. here is another order form I found: Never did find out there this was posted in? If you look, you see Islander Haku and not King Haku! Lame, I was a big fan of King Haku and was very pissed! I think Haku was a great wrestler back in the day. That is why I was pissed his match with Harly Race was cut out of the VHS tape of the Royal Rumble 1989 PPV Mean Gene with no mic? wtf!

Here is a picture of the ad for the LJN 1989 figures. I don't remember which magazine it is from. The small print says the figures will be shipped between August-October.

The top right corner says "for more exciting fun see next page." I don't remember what that was.
The top features the hasbro-like drawings of Warrior, Andre, Bossman and Rude.
The all new 1989 figures listed were for ONLY $16.99, they were: Rude, King Haku, New Andre, Powers of Pain Warlord, Bossman, Warrior. Then Demolition Ax, Mean Gene, Mr. Fuji and Classy Freddie Blassie were ONLY $11.99. Below the Blassie price is "all 1989 WWF action figures will be available for delivery between August and October of 1989." I wonder if they knew by then the ones that weren't released weren't going to be.
Then the bottom is the order form, see page 87. Then it shows the Ring for $24.99 and the cage accessory for $14.99. It listed the company information.
I've had the AD a long time, it's not one of my favorites because it just shows drawings and not the actual figures.

BAD ASS! THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!!! This is the kind of the same "order Drawing picture form" I was send with Demolition Smash. The drawing picture of Smash had him posed just like Demolition Ax but with smash face paint and long hair. I would give my left nut for that order form... Man sweet stuff here JASON1980s +1 for you brother. -Rude look alot like Ricky Steamboat with a stash back in his wcw days. -Andre would have been sweet like this pose.. he does look a little to slim but taller -Bossman looks the same -Warrior is the same.. I like him in Orange the way it was released..it made him look like he did in WM6 were he beat hogan. I guess they really saved there asses with "Illustrations may vary slightly from actual product" Man I wish I could go back in time and get that drawing order form...man..I need to get a hold of Doc Brown and Marty and take a ride in the delorean. great stuff brother...keep the LJNs alive

I think stuff will eventually be found, it's just a matter of time. 22 years after LJN line ended and 17 with Hasbro we are still find pictures and prototype photos or figures.
Someone posted a 1986 LJN catalog book a while back featuring the bendies on motorcycles. I would love to see any LJN catalogs featuring the WWF line. I think Hasbro with all the images posted on here before have been shown.

On one site I found this picture and interview with a ex-ljn worker ljn bendies -Corp Kirchner -Jessie Venture -Capt Lou -Bobby Heenan -Beefcake -Macho Man question: Were there plans for more WWF LJN figures beyond the last series that was released commercially? If so, what were the names of these proposed figures and are their any prototypes out their? answer from ex-ljn worker: I am sure there were, there were so many wrestlers in those days I am sure many of them were thought of to extend the line if it continued. I am only sure of the thumb wrestlers and the 8" figure that I have as prototypes. Are there more out there? I really don't know! site: www.spam/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1285737831&archive=&start_from=&ucat=&and no it's not gerry mead haha

Yeah man, The "drawing order form" I got back in the day had Demolition as a tag team set you could buy or you could buy Smash in a single pack. The paper was never clear if Demolition was in a 2 pack with the brown or black titles or it was just Ax and Smash in single packs. There were more figures on there, However the only 2 drawings were Ax and Smash If I remember..This was in 1989...or 1990. So I was around 13. I believe that Hita Kid was on there along with the Rockers, Badnews, maybe Barbarian and other re-releases. I just remember Smash..and I was a big fan of Demolition and wanted Smash to finish my LJN tag teams. oldschoolsoldier we are awating your post of the paper...can't wait...You know I just moved aswell..I know what it's like to have all your crap in boxes and have no clue on here the junk is...I just found an old ECW catalog from 1997. The Old school ECW not the WWE ECW bs. This was a rare find...I may post some pics in a new thread if anyone wants to see it WCWA, even if you bad mouth my bootleg collection in anthor thread.. I will answer your question. As for the interview..the part I posted was the only part that guy talked about the WWF LJN figures. He was mainly talking about Thundercats and other LJN action figures. (take out the ***)

re CWFPRO
Why would the Haiti Kid be on there? He was long gone from the WWF by 1989 wasn't he?

Yeah, that picture above of the WWF LJN Bendies was featured on the back of the carding for that series.

. re CWFPRO Why would the Haiti Kid be on there? He was long gone from the WWF by 1989 wasn't he? I am not saying he was on there, I just heard rumors that he was on there...I never said I saw it on there.. I was so wrapped up in the Smash figure that I was willing to pay the $16.99 for it. romafan87 is the one (along with others) that said that Haiti Kid was listed... However, look at all the other figures that LJN put out way after the wrestler was long gone from the company. The best one to point out is ted arcidi. The Guy left the WWF after WM2. His LJN Figure was released in 1987 or 1988 in series 4. WM2 was in 1986. I am not trying to start a fight, but We can all agree that LJN was late on getting some of these guys out and was worry about making a ton of hogans. I am just glad we got a Warrior and it was not canned. But if this was Jakks, the whole last line of figures would have been Bret Harts in John Cena Shorts and the rest repaints.

Well I found a few more things for LJNs if anyone wants to check them out. I am sure you guys have seen them before. The Sgt. Slaughter Unreleased mold which was was posed like Snuka. I think STOMWIJF posted this as his...very interesting Instead, we got this one. Which was sold in a mail away by Hasbro for the LJN figures. I have 2 of these. My dad got me and my brother one for Christmas that year. Never new this would be such a rare figure now days. My brother gave him his after he got out of wrestling and collecting figures. also found a old 1986 or 1987 Sear catalog page.. just for giggles also This was going to be on the back of Jake's Bio card for the LJn figures, but parents were not happy so it was scrapped.
