I just watched the classic moment were the NWO is formed at bash at the beach. When Hogan is walking down the ramp the fans pop and the announcers are trying to sell that he's a good guy going to save sting and macho. However Bobby Heenan says something like "Yea, but who's side is he on?" If he didn't say that i don't think people like me would have even suspected the heel change. Do you think Heenan ruined the moment?

in a way..yes..i believe wcw didnt let their announcers know ahead of time what was going to happen..maybe if they did he wouldnt have said it..or he still might have..i noticed how wwe has cut it out of various dvds..

Eh, I guess so.
I remember watching it as a kid and being just so shocked that I could hardly talk.

Looking back now of course its seemed that way. But I guarantee that most people that saw it live thought nothing of it. He was goody good Hogan. No one saw it coming. I never understood the big deal over him saying that.

I never understood the big deal over him saying that. Plus Heenan had been bad mouthing Hogan, and making stuff up about Hogan, so it fit perfectly.

I think it's hilarious because of Dusty's reaction. "HUH WHAT AH YOU TAWKIN' ABOU?!"

Heenan always talked crap about Hogan, so it didn't ruin anything. Who the ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ever though Hogan would actually turn heel? Answer: Nobody.

As a full-grown adult who was "smart" to the business back then, I was still let down that Hulk had gone heel. I guess it was the little Hulkamaniac in me from the 80's that knew no matter what, I could count on Hulk Hogan to save the day.
hahahahaha

Heenan always talked **** about Hogan, so it didn't ruin anything. Who the ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ever though Hogan would actually turn heel? Answer: Nobody. Actually I called for the Hogan heel turn before Bash at The Beach main event. With Hogan volunteering to goto war, yet not being picked and then having him off camera for a few weeks, I knew something was up. When Hogan started to come down the aisle, I was 100% sure. Still shocking to actually see.

I mean, looking back it detracts, but at the time Heenan always accused Hogan of heelish things so it didn't seem abnormal.

Whatever the case may be, Heenan is the best color man ever. No contest.

that was my prodest moment as a predicting fan.
i was only 10 or 11 cant remember and my bro who was ten years older knew a lot about wrasslin back then. we occasionaly watched wcw because we liked hogan, we noticed he was gone for a long time and i said to him, i bet he comes back as a bad guy.
about 3 weeks later we were lucky enough to watch bash at the beach (in the UK u could only wathc wcw ppv on a german channel so it was pot luck if we were to watch it) then hogan came i just expected it. However, i was still shocked and i still loved the hulkster, i wasnt one of those stupid kids who always liked faces, i hated faces bar hogan and macho

I was always disappointed that DiBiase was the manager of the original nWo and not Heenan.

I'm not a 100% sure but I think the heenan comment was censored out in the live PPV broadcast (remember there is a delay) because I never heard heenan say that and when hogan was making his way to the ring I just kept thinking " Ok hogan is going to hit the ring and then the 3rd member of the NWO is going to come out and destroy hogan" needless to say I was shocked when he turned (I've been watching wrestling religiously since 1979). I have watched the video of the bash since then and heenans comments are on the vhs version and on alot of different dvds but I would like for someone who has the original broadcast still recorded on vhs to confirm that it was or wasn't mentioned on the live broadcast.....

Well, it was WCW's fauly, since they would never even tell the announcers what was going on.
