Wanderlei Silva Vs Chris Leben has just been added to UFC 132 (headlined by Cruz Vs Faber 2). I've been wanting this fight for ages... should be a war!

I was gonna post this today, great news, looking forward to this fight, and as for the event, I do hope that Penn VS Fitch happens again soon...
I have a feeling Leben may upset Wanderlei here...early feelings though...

Huh. I was expecting Wandy vs. Belfort. This should be good, though.

Wanderlei's going to get knocked out within 2 Rounds. I'm saying this as a huge Wanderlei fan. But the state of his chin and Leben's power = short night for The Axe Murderer.

"State of his chin"
Interesting comment. He's only been knocked out by guys who have tons of power. Hendo, Rampage and Mirko. How is that a fair assessment on his chin? Leben does have power as well, but I don't know that Wanderlei's chin is bad.

yeah this whole "Wanderlei has a weak chin" thing is nuts. I like both fighters a lot but I think Wandy wins..

There's a lot of things that are a concern for me, and make me lean Leben's way. Wanderlei, while he won, didn't look great in the Bisping fight until the last 15 seconds on the second and third rounds in my opinion. Call me stupid, but he looked slow besides those bursts.
How will the layoff affect Wanderlei? Bisping fight was in Feb 2010. It'll be July 2011 when this happens. That's a loooong time off. How will the knees be affecting Wanderlei? While he took the proper time to heal, you never know until fight time how its going to affect him.
On to the chin. I'm not saying its weak, I'm saying its taken a ton of damage since 2005, and that damage is showing. Cro Cop turned his lights off. Mark Hunt hurt him. Rampage brutally turned his lights off. Chuck hurt him 3 or 4 times. He took a lot of punches from Rich. Henderson turned his lights out. I don't think he has "Chuck Chin" but he can't take the amount of abuse and instantly recover like he used to. The evidence is right there. He is getting older. If Leben cracks the chin, can Silva recover before Leben pounces? I don't think he can.
Leben has crazy power and a great chin. When he gets hurt, he hurts you back. I think Wanderlei will try to be technical with his striking & not get sucked in to a brawl. He could and should win that. I think he's better technically than Leben. But lets say he gets anxious and they start swinging. My money is on Silva going down before Leben does.

Leben never covers up when he fights. Wanderlei will catch him with one and finish him off.
Wanderlei looked great against Bisping. Won the standup, took him down a couple times and used great defensive jiu-jitsu to get back to his feet everytime he was on his back. He also almost submitted Bisping as well.

^^ Fitch has had to pull out with injury AFAIK Yeah, I know that, I meant when they do eventually have the rematch, knowing that it's now not at UFC 132. Agreed, I liked that fight as well, but noted his guillotine attempt was not as effective as it could've been...perhaps that was the factor that saw it go to decision, I'm not sure...

The choke was at the end of the round. Maybe like 3 more seconds, and Bisping would have tapped.

I know, and that's possible that he would've tapped, my only gripe (and it is only a very small one) was Wandy's execution of the guillotine itself...I've seen Rick Story submit Brian Foster from half-guard with an arm triangle so I know anything's possible...great fight though regardless...

Brian Foster tapped from a pain move. He didn't tap because he was going out, he tapped because it hurt. Tapping someone with an arm triangle from the guard is impossible unless they can't take the mild pain that it causes.

...
I only used Story/Foster just as an example to say 'Of the stuff I've seen, anything's possible with submissions', regardless of tapping out from going unconscious or the pain of the hold.

Bisping wins a rematch with Wand fairly easy. That fight was won in the final 10 seconds of round 2 & 3. Wand won fair and square, but in no way did he "win the stand-up). Wand's face was busted at the end of the fight, and he go rocked a time or two. Again, at the end of the day, Wand won fair and square but I would LOVE to see a rematch.
Also, Wand seems like a little b**** ducking fights. First he wouldn't fight Stann b/c he didn't want to get his feelings hurt by being booed, now he needs a "warm up fight" before Vitor? Give me a break, I thought this guy was a legend?

Maybe you need to watch the fight again. Wanderlei looked fine and was actually the guy attacking in the fight. I consider the guy who is attacking and going forward as the guy who is dictating the fight.

I think it's you that needs to rewatch it.

You can even see the FightMetric report, which gives the striking score and grappling score to Wanderlei. It was a pretty close fight, no doubt, but Wanderlei clearly won 2 rounds to 1.
