So I've been borrowing a friend's guitar for a little while and I'm really wanting to buy my own. I'm looking to get a good acoustic guitar and after visiting Guitar Center this caught my eye, www.guitarcenter.com/Martin-DX1-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Guitar-100895119-i1148383.gcI'm really liking the sounds of it, and the output is just so loud and beautiful. Does anyone that knows anything about guitars recommend this as a good beginner guitar?

Ok... Number one rule to buying, anything honestly, is " You get what you paid for!" This is something that I can't stress this enough to you when it comes to musical instruments. Martin's are amazing guitars. But with acoustic I would suggest either Gibson or Epiphone. With Elixer strings. Beautiful strings! Also, go with a light or medium pick, This will give your melody sound stretch longer.
Don't be affraid to shell out a extra 100-200 bucks. The more the guitar's price, the better quality and craft and equipment in the guitar!

I don't know anything about Martins other than Kurt Cobain used a D-18e I believe for the acoustic MTV Unplugged. Sounded pretty good, I have a Yamaha FG-325 & it sounds good as well.

Martin is probably the most prestigious brand of guitars there are. They're not made as well as they used to be but they sound as good as any guitar you can buy new these days.
I've played guitar for 3 years and I still don't have one. I would suggest you try something cheaper for now since you are a beginner. There's really no need for that guitar yet unless you have that kind of money to spend.
In that case, get it.
Edit: On second look, that's a pretty good deal all around man.

Martin is probably the greatest acoustic company there is, if you know anything about guitars why recommend a lesser brand? I do agree with the strings, though. OP, it's one of there lower end guitars (Not meaning there bad, but this company makes high quality instruments) but it's way higher quality than most beginners start with. If you like it, buy it.

If you are a beginner, I would recommend against Martin C.F guitars. They make top line acoustic guitars along with Taylor, Gibson, and Larrivee but as you can see they don't come cheap.
I would suggest buying a decent cheaper guitar as your beginning guitar because if you end up getting bored and stop playing, you would be down $500+.

^ Yep.
If you haven't played for that long, I'd get a beginner pack or something. Until you prove to yourself that you're going to stick with it, I wouldn't buy a big brand name guitar.
I had an extremely sucky no-name guitar for about 2 1/2 years before I proved to my mom that I was going to stick with it. Now I have a Taylor 214ce. It was about $1000, but I love it. But again, don't go buy anything big until you know you're going to stick with playing.
