I liked the first one. However, having seen the trailer for this, it , in my personal opinion, looks like one of the shittest films around. It looks absolutely horrendous. Doubt I'll bother going to see it, as I'll just complain about how crapit is.

Just got back from the midnight showing -- thought I would share my thoughts on it. Don't worry there are no spoilers.
1. It's NOT like any previous Scream film. It's got a completely different feel, it was hard for me to accept it as a "Scream" film until about half way through... 2. It's got it's clever style back...which was lost somewhere in the 2nd one...very, very clever. The audience laughed consistently throughout the show. 3. It's a roller coaster ride. It gives you something you expect, and something you don't. You'll see at the climax. 4. These kids are f**king awesome. They did a really good job of casting. At first I didn't know if I'd care for the cast but -- I liked it. It was very much casting "my" generation like the first one did.
I guess what I'm trying to say is -- it's hard for me to say I love it. I'm so used to what we had and it's been TEN YEARS since a Scream film -- it's hard to jump right back into it and get into it BUT -- the movie does try, and does a very good job at giving you what you love and giving you something new. I'm going to go out on a limb right now and say...it's either A) The worst film in the series or B) Absolutely genius, and is right next to the 1st and will likely do what the first did to a dwindling horror genre...I'm leaning more towards the latter but a 2nd viewing will solidify me.
Go see it for yourself. It's worth the admission, at the very least.

I just got back from it and WOW, that was awesome! It felt on par with Scream 1 and 2! It was a lot better than the third film and I really enjoyed the characters. I was worried that Craven lost it with My Soul to Take, but he managed to come back swinging. There were a few moments that were a little too cheesy for my tastes, but the good outweighed the bad. If your a fan of the Scream series then you owe it to yourself to see this movie. If you never cared for Scream then don't bother, you'll probably hate it.
My ratings for all Scream films: Scream - 8.5/10 Scream 2 - 8/10 Scream 3 - 6/10 Scream 4 - 8/10

Planning on seeing it this weekend in all its cheesy, awful glory. I'm a sucker for a classic slasher.
I've watched the first two this past week to prepare, I'm hoping I get to squeeze the third one in before I go, but I'm pretty low on time. As I watch them now, I remember everything that happened, but its been so long since I've seen them (particularly the third) that until I actually sit down to watch it, I can't remember a single thing.

Just got back from it, it was amazing! The whole people in there made better too because I'm used to them all being quiet. But after a kill or something, they would scream and everything, which made it 10x better, atmosphere wise. It's the best Scream since the first, but something felt odd about it, I think it just didn't feel like Scream because of the setting and stuff, much like the 3rd didn't aswell. But all in all great movie, don't wanna spoil it for you guys. But definitely worth a watch.

Saw it last night at midnight. Loved it!
Definitely everything you've come to expect from a Scream film, while naturally evolving with what horror has become. It's got laughs, it's got blood, it's got scares, it's got Hayden Panettierre..... what more could you ask for in a movie?
I enjoyed a good few of the new kids, some more than others, some A LOT less than others. They served their purpose though, to transition this movie in to a new generation of horror movie fans. Williamsons writing is still as witty as ever, this guy will never lose his touch. Same can be said of Wes Craven, I jumped when one of the kids walked into a hanging plant out of nowhere, good, unexpected scares by Craven were plentiful in this movie.
I will say though, a tad on the predictable side, at least for me, I had it figured out about a half hour in, and turned out to be right. Still, that didn't distract me the least bit from enjoying the film. Definitely the best since the original in my opinion.
Fans of the franchise should definitely get out there this weekend and see it, you will not be disappointed!

Just saw it and I'm really glad they did something new with the franchise. My only gripe is that there was a little too much camp/cheese. Still a fun film non the less and I feel that it will be one of those movies that I enjoy more on the second viewing.
That said, I'm very interested to see where they will go story wise if they decide to make Scream 5.

Saw the movie earlier, and while I can say I enjoyed it.. I really didn't get the same feeling as some of you guys did. It didn't seem as fresh or stylish as some people felt it did to me. Certain things I did like without giving too much away is how they kind of mocked the horror genre in it's current state, especially remakes. I also really liked the climax, and the twists towards the end. Things I didn't like was how they kind of mocked how in today's horror movies little character build is ever used.. but at the same time this movie didn't really do a great job at developing characters. I think the inclusion of the original characters hindered the process of making the new characters shine. I know that for a Scream movie to work you kind of had to have them return, but to me it seemed they were trying to put the series in a new direction and open up the franchise for future sequels.. but with so much focus on Gail or Dewey it kind of made it hard for them to build around the younger characters that should have had more depth to them.
Again.. it was an enjoyable movie especially for a long time fan of the franchise, but it really wasn't anything more than an average entry that kind of brought out some nostalgic memories.
7 out of 10.

Just got back from it a bit ago.. I agree with the majority here. I loved it. It felt like "Scream" again and was definitely close to if not right on par with the original. The casting was great and I especially enjoyed Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin, although I thought all did a great job.
Overall, very funny, very clever. A few good scares and a great climax. The opening was awesome too. I'd definitely recommend everyone go see it.
