So I talked it over with TRW a while ago and we decided that there can be a Playoffs discussion thread, and since the playoffs are under a week away...here's the thread. But there's a catch. If ANYONE, be it any of the admins or myself, has to lock this, even ONCE (AKA if there is ANY fighting/spamming at all), this is what will happen: - This thread will not be opened again.
- There will be no off-season thread.
- All subsequent NBA related threads during the off season may just be locked and deleted if there's even the remote possibility that ANYONE could start a fight.
Oh yeah, and if this has to be locked, I very well may consider not letting there be an NBA thread next season till after the All Star Break, if at all. So...yeah. I'm very excited for the playoffs. Celtics! ;D

THANK YOU. Jesus. I've been pleading with TRW to make a new NBA thread.

As an Eastern fan, the Bulls worry me. Over in the West though, I wouldn't count Portland out. They certainly have the talent to surprise some people and make a run at the finals.

I'm not sure why the other was locked, can someone inform me the exact rules because I definitely don't want to be the one to ruin the NBA chat for this forum.

Although most of my focus will go into the NHL playoffs, I will be watching the NBA playoffs as much as I can.

As an Eastern fan, the Bulls worry me. Over in the West though, I wouldn't count Portland out. They certainly have the talent to surprise some people and make a run at the finals. As much as I would love it, I think there's a better possibility of finding Noah's Ark than there being a Blazers/whoever Finals. To clarify, I'm just ragging on my own team, no disrespect to L.L.L.B.D. I've flip flopped a ton on who I think will win. Lakers are the most talented team, but they've put themselves in a crappy position by tanking these past two weeks. Still, I think they at the very least get back to the Finals. The East is wacky because there's 3 teams I could see emerging from that conference. All three of the top East teams have play great defense with Chicago being the best. I'm not in love with the Rose show though, the playoffs have a way of exposing one dimensional offensive teams. They do have a swagger about them though that can't be overlooked. Boston I regarded as the 2nd best team in the league behind the Lakers up until they decided to suck. The Perkins trade was dumb, but what I don't get is how they were so dominant when he was inactive and now the trade is being used as an excuse for their poor play. It's almost as if the trade had a bigger psychological impact than a talent impact. You'd have to think that once the playoffs start that they'll find their mojo again, but it starts with Rondo, he's gotta get right or they're in trouble. Lastly, Miami. Not a deep team and they've had their problems closing out games as well as playing the top competition in the league... or at least in terms of win/losses go. They've been in a lot of those games and for whatever reason things, weird things that don't happen very often occurred and they ended up walking away a loser. But those odd losses have a way of evening themselves out. Just because they didn't beat Chicago in the regular season doesn't mean they can't beat them in a 7 game series. In fact I like their chances better against them than I do against Boston, unfortunately for Miami though they have to get through the defending conference champs first. In the event they do beat Boston though, I think they're in the Finals. Orlando even has a shot, albeit a distant distant shot at winning the East. I'm like Charles Barkley, I don't know who's gonna win the East, but it should be a fun playoffs no matter who gets to the Finals.

Knicks 7 game winning streak is glorious right now.
I don't expect them to win more than 2 games in the first round but if they do it won't shock me.
I dream of taking Miami or Boston out; it doesn't matter. It would be a disaster for either team if they actually were upset by the Knicks.
They probably have better chances against Miami.
I do think the East is going to be represented by a new face this year though. I don't think Boston or Orlando are going to win the East, but Boston still has the offense to do so. They just look like they aren't as unified ever since Perkins was traded. But then again, last year they looked finished and went all the way to the Finals.

Lakers losing streak pleases me. Lowers their chances of home court advantage if they reach the finals.

ing Hornets. Nice way to walk into the playoffs. Paul goes scoreless (doesn't surprise me one bit) and then they lose to the Jazz tonight. Although I like our chances better against the Spurs in a series than against the Lakers it'll still be tough.

Knicks versus Celtics is set for the first round.
I thought the Knicks had a better shot against Miami but playing against Boston is a good learning experience for them. Especially considering our team is so inexperienced together.

Playoffs on the East side look a bit weak. Not very good matchups. My sleeper team is Portland, they have size, speed, and play good defense. Plus when you can have an all-star (Brandon Roy) come off the bench you know you have a deep team.

Nice, been waiting for the return of this. Hopefully we can keep it.
Extremely excited to get the playoffs under way. If you would have told me at the beginning of the season given the injuries we were going to have to deal with, I woulda thought you were crazy if you said the Bulls would have 60 wins. I firmly believe with his performance Rose has locked up MVP with possibly Kobe being closest.
Pacers wont be an easy out for sure, but hopefully they can end it as fast as possible and be rested and ready for the next round. Also really happy that the Bulls are on the Orlando side of the bracket and not the Heat/Celtics side.
As for the other match ups, the East is pretty cut and dry and I think the top four teams will advance. Celtics/Knicks will be fun to watch though. After that I can see Miami/Boston being a really great series, and Bulls/Magic will be great too. Every year I hope the Bulls can pull out of the East, but hopefully it becomes reality this time. Really am excited for this.
In the West I think there could be a couple sleepers. Memphis is playing really hot right now, and if I were the Lakers, Mavs, or Thunder, I wouldnt wanna draw their number. I can see the Thunder really making a statement this year and making that deep run. The Lakers just havent been themselves, and I dont really see this being their year. San Antonio still is the top dog though, so it should be fun to watch.
