UFC in England: Nottingham Rumored as Site of October U.K. EventThe UFC may have found a location and date for its return to the U.K. later this year, according to This is Nottingham. The website reports that the world’s biggest mixed martial arts organization has provisionally booked Ice Arena in Nottingham on October 15, 2011 as the site of a yet-to-be-determined UFC event. According to the report, Nottingham is still in competition with Liverpool as a host for the event, but things are looking good for the home of UFC star Dan Hardy. Neither city has hosted a UFC event before. The last U.K. event, UFC 120, was headlined by the country’s biggest star, Michael Bisping, as he defeated Yoshihiro Akiyama in London. The event narrowly beat out UFC 105 as the promotion’s most-attended U.K. event, with 17,133 fans packing the O2 Arena last October. Bisping, who has fought in four of the last five events in his home country, is still awaiting the date of his next fight after defeating Jorge Rivera by TKO at UFC 127. As the biggest English MMA star, he seems like a logical choice to headline yet another event in front of his biggest fans. Dan Hardy would also seem to be a likely candidate for a fight at the event, as he could be fighting for his UFC life in his next contest. Including losing his UFC Welterweight Title opportunity to Georges St-Pierre, Hardy has dropped three straight fights after a one-sided loss to Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in Seattle last month. England remains a hot location for the UFC and should only continue to grow as the country produces more top-level mixed martial artists.

Vitor still needs an opponent for Rio, so I say feed him Bisping, and then have someone else headline this event.

Thanks for the news, Kliq... it's a bit disappointing that the UFC only seem to be coming here once a year now - during '07-'09 there were about 3 UK shows a year. And I know that Bisping is a big draw and the UK's most well-known fighter, but it would be really cool if the card was headlined by an "international" fight or big-name... they don't need to have Bisping headlining to sell the event - it's the only UK show of the year (probably) so people will go, regardless.

Have someone fight a mismatch that's going to get them beat? Stupid... It would be better to have fights that are going to be competitive, give Vitor someone worth fighting.

How is Vitor vs. Bisping a mismatch?

I agree, as I was at UFC127 here in Sydney in February, I know that Aussie fighters don't have to headline...nor will they, for now at least...

How is Vitor vs. Bisping a mismatch? Vitor would beat Bisping, I don't see it going any other way, he's on another level. Perhaps mismatch was the wrong type of wording. But still the point remains the same.

But still the point remains the same. They're both ranked near the bottom of the top-10 from most publications. This is exactly the kind of matchup that should be made with Vitor having been crushed in his last fight and Bisping trying to push toward an eventual title shot, in my opinion.

Yeah - outside of Bisping/Sonnen, Bisping/Belfort probably makes the most sense... it's a high profile match-up and Belfort has been fairly inactive lately (only 3 minutes in 2 years), so that would add to the intrigue. I actually think it's a 50/50 fight were it to happen - I can see Belfort TKO'ing Bisping, but I can also see Bisping using his boxing skills to outwork and outbox Belfort.

outbox Belfort? Bisping? Lol. I found that part kind of funny. Agreed though....Belfort/Bisping makes the most sense. If Bisping got past Belfort I would probably stop thinking he is so damn overrated.

IMO Chael vs. Bisping is way more of a "mis-match" then Bisping vs. Vitor.

There are some dumbass people who actually believe he didn't get hit by that knee, though, so how am I supposed to know?
BTW, in talking to Rivera... He definitely got KO'd by the knee.

Really? Leben, Kang and Akiyama's faces say otherwise. Bisping might not have knockout power, but he certainly doesn't have "pillow hands" either. There are some dumbass people who actually believe he didn't get hit by that knee, though, so how am I supposed to know? BTW, in talking to Rivera... He definitely got KO'd by the knee. If he'd been KO'd he wouldn't have got up and started round 2.

People believe it never hit? That's intellectually- disabled. And nah he definitely milked the knee strike, round two he came out looking great. And even before the round 2 I thought he was playing it out a bit. Well I guess that's how it came across to me and others.
