He just debuted on a Raw during the late summer of 1998, I believe. I'm pretty sure he beat one of the guys from Kaientai (back then, there were two others aside from Taka and Funaki).
For the first few weeks, he wore a leather jacket to the ring which = total badass. But despite the AWESOME look, the KICKASS music, and the AMAZING intro, he wasn't able to catch on as well as he should have. That character should have made money.
The fact that he had that goofy "bob" in his walk coupled with him always laughing and smiling.... these are just some traits I don't expect from someone who engages in activities such as bloodsucking and stalking the night.
Unless we're talking about a certain cereal with marshmallows, I don't prefer my vampire's being all smiles.

I can't really remember exactly how or when Gangrel debuted. I believe it was shortly after Edge came in. Then, Christian followed and they formed a trio called The Brood. I guess the gothic lifestyle was pretty big around that time and those were the type of characters they played.

his debut was pretty basic it was around the same time as Edge ( about a months difference I believe) he began to take a vested intrest in Edge especially around the time Edge won the IC title Edge played it off until Gangrel brought in Christian ( who was playing Edge's little brother) his purpose was to bring Edge back into his fold and the only way to do so was to get his little brother the formed the Brood

wrong again Edge did not win the IC title till after the brood... Edge came in the Summer of 98 Gangrel Debuted around August or September and they began feuding. Edge was taking on Owen Hart at Breakdown In Your House and Christian came out of the audience and distracted Edge as he lost. Christian started hanging out with Gangrel and with no real explanation other than JR and King talking through it Edge alligned himself with Gangrel and Christian forming the brood.

You might be mixing that up with his title win in '99.

He just debuted during a regular match... Then later that night, he attacked edge after his match.
At which point he said "My Blood Runs through your veins", quoting Lost Boys. Gangrel was basically David from that movie... Funny, his real name being David as well.
This feud was sadly never fully realized, as they ended up all joining each other.
I loved the Brood though. And David Heath was a great wrestler, who never really got his due.

If he had of been a good talker and a better in ring worker he would have really gotten over in my opinion.

Gangrel made his TV debut on the August 16, 1998 episode of Sunday Night HEAT; he was victorious in his in-ring debut against Scott Taylor.'

He could have had a similar persona as The Undertaker or something. My point is that a vampire who talks alot doesn't make sense. The Undertakers mic work wouldn't work either. Gangrel's character didn't really allow mic work. Did he ever really speak anyway?

I believe 'twas that one sentence he happened to utter on WWF TV that dashed his chances of ever having a full-time job with the company again.
