Hey since I saw that there was a lot of talk in the CW renewal thread for VD, thought I would create a seperate thread not to bog down the other one.
Been there since day one, initially for my love of Paul Wesley from previous Fallen Series. But now have fallen in love with VD, DEFINITELY my favorite show on tv. No show has ever had me shocked and dying for the next episode at the end of each episode like VD does.
Anyway, I saw someone posted that they want Bonnie to die 8 times. HUH!? Love Bonnie. She has come a long way from the judgmental best friend of Elena into her current powerful witch stage. What makes you not like Bonnie?

Katherine and Damon are EPIC characters. Although, I also really like Elena, Stefan, Caroline, Tyler and Alaric. It's an amazing show to be honest.

I would have never guessed you loved this show CM!
But that is cool that you like it.
I have never seen it but it looks decent.
I might check it out on DVD since I know some others who give it good reviews.

Only a few people were posting in it and it died. But it seems the show picked up more fans. Guess who I got to meet today.....

Damn! How do you meet everyone? I would love to meet someone from my favorite show. Probably be Jeff Probst from Survivor. Congrats on that though CM.

In my top 3 shows currently on TV behind Smallville and Supernatural.
I love every character on it, I'd hate to see any of them go. This season is heading toward an awesome finale and I can't wait!

I refuse to post in this thread just because of CM Showstalker.

Seriously, I'm just pulling your chain. I hate Bonnie though. She's my least favorite character. Has anyone actually read the books? I read the first one years ago, I haven't went back and read the rest because I didn't want any types of spoilers. I can't even remember what happens in the first book. I own a copy of it but just haven't read it.
Nina Dobrev is a genius at what she does. Her portrayal of two different characters is great. They are so different and she does an awesome job.
Honestly started watching because when I saw the promo I was stoked to see Nina & Ian in a show together. Ian was my favorite on LOST.

I find Katerina Grant enchanting, beautiful and has done a fantastic job in the recreation of her character.

Would someone be willing to explain to me why this show is so awesome? I haven't watched an episode, so don't take what I'm saying as hating but -- if it's worth watching, I would like to view it sometime.
I'm a HUGE Buffy fan, and True Blood for that matter. Plus Scream fan so I trust Williamson's work...I guess I'm just wondering what fans see in it that makes it worth tuning in?

Just judging from the 2nd part of your post, I'm telling you you'd love the show. It's a really well done vampire drama, and the name is completely misleading. It is not a "chick show" in the least bit, it's one of the best vampire shows in history. Give it a shot dude, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for getting back to me. I'll definitely check it out then. My money is on True Blood Season 3 this month (Don't have HBO so I have to wait for the seasons), but probably in June, I'll buy the first season of VD.

Plus Scream fan so I trust Williamson's work...I guess I'm just wondering what fans see in it that makes it worth tuning in? It has SEVERAL characteristics of Buffy. True Blood....not so much. True Blood is ok. Season 3 was ok. But honestly, I cant stand most of the characters on TB and find Moyer to be dull and annoying. Too many whiny characters in TB. In VD, you will see several characteristics of the show and its characters that are similar to Buffy. While Elena is not Buffy, she carries herself as strong as Buffy did. She enjoys taking on challenges and is a heroine in the show, even if she does not have super natural powers. Stefan is so like Angel, it isnt even funny. Both are brooding, yet elegantly romantic around their female love interest. Both are heroic and self sacraficing. Now matter how dangerous or if their lives are on the line, both are willing to lay it all on the line for their love. They are quiet and keep to themselves, yet charming and warm at the same time. Damon is more like Spike, but he is also a character in trasition in right now. He is impulsive, rash, brash, crude and rude. Yet loves Elena so much eventhough she is with Stefan and is willing to sacrafice himself, his friends, his brother....anyone to save Elena. He starts off as the ultra bad guy...soul less and evil. But yet there always seems to be more to Damon, that slowly unravels over season 1 and 2. Just when you think Damon is on the road to redemption....something happens and Damon takes 5 steps backwards to his evil self. He is self tormented. The more you learn about the history of Damon and Stefan, the more the character becomes sympathetic. He provides humor and brashness like Spike did in Buffy after he got his soul back. You got Bonnie, the powerful witch. Of course she and Willow are similar with both being a witch, but thats pretty much the end of similarities. Bonnie has also transitioned. She has gone from the quiet confidant of Elena to the powerful witch that can control all elements and is more powerful than the vampires or werewolves. Katerina Graham does an amazing job as the overly judgmental, unforgiving, yet loving best friend of Elena. Caroline and Cordelia are dead ringers.....cept for the fact that Caroline ends up becoming a vampire, where Cordelia ended up becoming a higher power. Both characters start off stuck up about their looks and ditzy about the world. Caroline goes through major transitions, yet still remains the same in the core. Matt is much like Xander, minus the goofyness. Matt is human without any powers. He is one of the most popular kids at school, works hard and is the former boyfriend of Elena. He is a super jock that draws much sympathy from the audience, but still remains strong. His character is changing right now during season 2. Thats just a small taste of some of the major characters of the show. If you like vampire themed shows without the sillyness of Twilight or the whining from True Blood....Vampire Diaries is the show to watch. If you like a show that can hit you with cliff hanger after cliff hanger....this is your show. Now for those who watched tonight....VD did it again. Damon bit by Tyler?! And Klaus with the backup plan....TURNING JENNA!!!!! ? Who saw that coming? When I heard Katherine say that she had no choice but to call, I thought it was Stefan. Jenna turning was shocking as hell.

She hasn't been as bad since shes with Jeremy but her Character is annoying. She is either being Nice or Bitchy or Sneaky. I think that is just the evolution of the character. She starts off as really nice and then as she begins to learn about her family's history and the Salvatore's secrets....especially Damon's....she comes bitchy and judgmental and sneaks behind Elena's back. Now Bonnie is powerful and comfortable with her character. She still is not fully trusting of the Salvatores.....but knows they have a role and truly want the best for Elena.

I honestly wasn't a fan of the Scene where Elena tells Stephan she doesn't want to be a Vampire. That kinda sucked. I want her to be a Vampire.
