The story behind Slaughter was that the whole batch of his mailaway figure got infected with mould in the factory in China.... I have no prrof of this.... it might be an urban myth.
A few ago I picked up a MIB British Bulldog Tag Team set. Both figure were untouched and never removed... however both were very sticky and had small white spots with light green edges to them..... I assume the plastic began to 'rot' because it could not 'breath' for over two decades.
Needless to say... the figures were tossed and replaced.

I don't know about the white blotches on the Bulldogs, but I can back up the fact that there was something wrong with the plastic used to make the Slaughter figures. I got mine when they were first offered, and never played with it, kept it stored properly, and still ended up with about a half dozen of those little blue dots on it. I've seen others that had dozens of blotches on them, and very rarely seen one free from any blemishes of this type.
I've seen the white blotches in question on a few LJNs. I always assumed it was some sort of mold or deterioration from age. I suppose it could be a chemical reaction to being stored in or next to a different type of plastic. I know those old "Legends Of Professional Wrestling" action figures from Figures Inc. were made of a plastic that got discolored when I displayed them with their backs against a varnished bookshelf (where the Jakks and Remco figures on that shelf were fine), so I know certain plastics are inclined to chemical reactions like that.

I've actually never seen these white blotches that you guys are talking about. I know that on a recent shipment of 30 LJN's from a ebay seller, I noticed some very light greenish type discolouration on some of them. It almost looked like sun burn marks.

If it's what they're writing about, the ones I've seen almost look like someone spattered little dots white acrylic paint on them, but it doesn't scratch off like something being spattered on them would. Come to think of it, one of the ones I've seen with that is a Dynamite Kid figure, actually. I wonder if there could be something to that, a mould or the plastic used to make them were defective, maybe?

I sold an LJN Slaughter a few years ago with what looked like mold all over it as well. Whatever it was, it looked like hell, even worse than the one pictured above.

wow. that is pretty bad. Has to be some sort of chemical reaction with the plastic.
I have a few LJN's now that I received in ebay lot that has some damage. I thought it was from the sun or something.

as I had mentioned earlier, I got a shipment of LJN's in and some had strange marks on them. Here is a pic. It appears that its similar to whats on your Slaughter although its hard to tell with the bubble wrap. When I first saw these marks, I thought it was from burning. Example, if someone were to hold a magnifine glass up to the figure and let the sun burn it.

these things are just rubber/plastic.. not designed to last forever.. apparently, they are starting to fall apart now..
