While watching all of the Monday night wars episodes on 24/7 I noticed one thing.
The NWO was boring!
I mean what the hell. It was just plain boring. In the beginning of the angle it was exciting but it just seemed to drag on and on.
Sure WCW had lots of entertaining mid card matches and feuds, but look at this week's example. ECW invades RAW, nWo shows up and talks.
Over the past few weeks it has dawned on me that WCW shows in the second hour were largely unwatchable.

The main reason that I always liked WCW better was all the different styles of wrestling in one show. You had the American Cruiserweight style, Mexican Lucha Libre, Japanese style, technical wrestling, brawling, big man style, and main event style, among others.
I grew up on NWA/WCW and remained loyal until the death of the company. I rarely missed an episode of Nitro or Thunder, even at the very end. I saw most of the Saturday Night shows too.

Looking back I guess it doesn't look that amazing when you see footage of the nWo now, but back when it was happening people were hooked and intrigued by the nWo, it was the not knowing what ws gonna happen next was what kept people watching. Plus like blu3blazer said the different styles that were on show, WCW never seem to limit what when on in the ring, people could just do there thing, unlike the WWE now that tells you not to certain moves and to wrestle to a certain style. CM Punk a prime example of the "WWE way of wrestling"

Even the Cruiserweights are limited to working a slower style.

They loved the rule of getting DQ'd when you put a guy over the ropes. Worst "rule" in wrestling EVER!!!!!!!!!!

WCW had great wrestling but the Storyline's where BS, I mean The Ultimate Power thing was just f*cking stupid, WCW milked as much as they could out of the nWo in hopes of getting back the Viewers who were watching a Program 10 Times better than WCW, Once Sting had defeated Hogan at Starcade 97 that was the end of WCW, from that point it went downhill.
WCW had so many Stars, more than what the WWF had at the time and they could have put on some of the best Shows we could have ever seen, but what do they do? They Push the living daylights out of Hogan, Hall and Nash and Focused more of Pre WWF 80's-90's Wrestlers, even though they had Wrestlers who ( In my Opinion ) could do a better job than those Three guys.
But WCW did do some great things, Sting is one of the most Recognized wrestlers Today, People want Goldberg to Wrestle again, They put alot of wrestlers into the Spotlight ( Like Jericho, Mysterio, Guerrero ect... ) and In the end helped Wrestling to become Bigger and better.
Im just really Surprised that alot of people seemed to have Forgotten about WCW, It was the Top Company for nearly Two Years and helped WWF/E become what it is today ( Well, after the Invasion Storyline, what the WWE is right now is pure sh*t ).

As bad as WCW was during it's dying days, I think I'd almost accept that over what WWE has become as of late.

actually, quite a few people were getting bored with the nWo in late 98/ early 99. I know I was. And god, don't get me started on nWo 2000. worst faction ever..

People didn't know what was going to happen with the NWO back then. Now looking back at it we know what is going to happen so the storylines don't seem half as exciting. Plus NWO was a big group so when the wasn't anything for them to do they just had to amek something up, which if you have watched the Monday Night Wars the is a scene when Mean Gene talks about sometimes the show would be written with only minutes before airing.

the reason i loved wcw is that i could pick my favourites and see them battling to get their name up there. the glass ceiling in wcw was so thick, people had to really give it their all to get noticed

I honestly was not a big wCw fan. I was and still am WWF all the way threw. But I wish someone had a primetime slot (not 9 pm like TNA) but like wCw was back in the day at 6 in the evening until about 9-9:30. I really miss TNA at 4:30 on Fridays on FSN. That is actually the reason I liked it. Even though they never fully gained my viewership like WWF did. I played football, baseball, and basketball during the monday night wars era. So I caught wCw during it's ending hour and also on the replay (which WWE should do.) Ijust miss wCw or a bog TNA boom.

I completely agree. How did people sit through that crap? Every week ended with a boring NWO promo. You never even had your main eventers wrestle and when you advertised them, it never happened. The WWF was so much better back then. Actually when I watch the Monday Night Wars on WWE 24/7 I've been skipping over it or just watching the cruiserweight matches because it's that damn bad. Not to mention through out the whole show all we here about is "the NWO this, the NWO that".

Hard to believe people would watch things like no less than 3 very good matches on the show, the first time Savage had worked heel on TV in like 6 years, and the very possible heel turn of Sting instead of wrestling history like the New Blackjacks vs. the Godwinns.
You can talk about how boring the NWO was, but the WWF was very very not good as a whole wrestling show at a time. They'd do something interesting here or there, but most of the show would just feel... ugh.

As bad as WCW was during it's dying days, I think I'd almost accept that over what WWE has become as of late. Then watch TNA! They have stupid gimmick matches ("electrified" steel cage) with most of the same cast as the late WCW! I watched WWF more than WCW, but I did enjoy WCW's wrestling. Dean Malenko vs anyone was always good, as was Chris Benoit vs anyone. Luchadores were awesome. The one thing I never got about WCW was Goldberg. But, whatever.

People watched WCW because of the star power as they had several genuine huge names, plus they had a strong tag division & some of the best wrestlers in the World on the undercard. At one stage they had Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, Rey Misterio, Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, Raven, Kanyon to name just a few.
Easy to dismiss WCW for the mistakes they made but they were a very strong group at one stage. Yeah they had a lot of bait & switch main events but so did Raw & WWE at the time had very little talent. Yeah the main event spot was stacked but beneath that it was so weak

Its so easy to say its boring now. People expect that style of the nWo everyday now. Back then, it was fresh to be bad yet cool, to rebel. Of course now its a everyday, overused gimmick.
The nWo vs Sting angle was one of the best feuds in WCW's history as far as I'm concerned. Its also probably the most hyped feud to not deliver in the actual matchup.

i allways watched it for the lower card and mid card matches for all the high flying stuff, but i also always enjoyed the Sting vs nwo stuff and the wolfpack was cool, i liked scotty turning on his brother to join nwo, DDP was always another great to watch, i guess all the brawls that happened were cool, nwo vs wcw i enjoyed it all.

After the NWO started picking up every other ing wreslters they could find, I quit watching. Hogan,Nash,Hall are the only NWO in my eyes. Never was a big WCW fan anyways, mainly because at the time WWF had talented guys like Austin and the Rock as their champ, as WCW had a no talent prick like Goldberg as theirs.
