"The Ultimate Fighter 14" Coaches? Michael Bisping & "Mayhem" Miller by MMAjunkie.com Staff on May 27, 2011 at 3:35 pm ET
Middleweights Michael Bisping and Jason "Mayhem" Miller will serve as coaches on the upcoming 14th season of "The Ultimate Fighter."
UFC president Dana White today confirmed the assignments with MMA.tv. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) could not immediately reach White for confirmation, though separate sources close to the promotion confirmed the coaching assignments.
The season begins filming in June and debuts on Spike TV in September.
Bisping (21-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) and Miller (24-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will meet in a season-ending fight at an event to be determined.
For the time in series history, "TUF 14" is expected to feature bantamweight and featherweight fighters. A 28-man, 32-slot tournament will be used. After an elimination round of fights, an official cast of 14 fighters will be determined. Two opening-round losers then will get second life as wild-card picks who fight for the eighth spot in the quarterfinal bracket.
Bisping, who won "TUF 3" and coached on "TUF 9," and Miller, who recently left Strikeforce and signed with the UFC, take the spots that were rumored to be going to a variety of fighters. Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, Chael Sonnen, Brian Stann, Georges St-Pierre, Nick Diaz and others all had been speculated as possibilities.
Sonnen, in fact, had the spot opposite Bisping. But unable to get a second's ("cornerman") license due to his fight ongoing fight following a recent California State Athletic Commission, Sonnen instead was replaced by Miller. (Bisping said he was "gutted" by the decision.)
Miller, in fact, is slated to fight Aaron Simpson at July's UFC 132 event, though that fight is expected to be scratched.

I like this... a lot.

Haha, beat me by a minute, so I deleted mine.
Anyway, definitely will be a fun season. Shame we won't see Mayhem in the octagon until late 2011.

For the first time in a long time I'll be looking forward to a season of TUF. Hopefully the constant string of uninteresting contestants doesn't spoil this for me.

Well some interesting guys were at the tryouts including Din Thomas, Micah Miller, Wagnney Fabiano and a bunch of others. Hope at leased Thomas makes it.

Because Silva has a fight in Rio in August, and the show debuts in September.

There's a chance. To be quite honest, I don't see a whole lot of other contenders at the moment.
Who knows. Maybe with the momentum Brian Stann is riding in on, an impressive performance may seal the deal.

I think this is the one elite mw that Bisping has a shot of beating...Usually I would say Miller would smash him...but ring rust is a motherf***er.

Can't wait for next season! Should be great with Mayhem on the show! I hate Bisping though. I wish they would've picked someone else, but as long as Mayhem beats him down in the end, I'm fine with it.

Mayhem an "elite" MW? Interesting.

I've got some very high hopes for next season... I've advocated for a 135/145 season for quite some time (back when the rumors first started that the WEC was thinking of doing their own TUF) so I hope the fight quality lives up to expectations.
In regards to Miller/Bisping, they don't really have any beef but I can see both of them outright loathing each other by series' end. Love him or hate him, Bisping is entertaining and backs up most of what he says in the cage. You could also mostly say the same about Miller.
I sincerely hope that the douchebag drunken fratboy of the season isn't on Miller's team, though. Things may get unbearably stupid.

So Mayhem Vs Bisping? - I know not much of Mayhem, how does Bisping fair? And when I say how does Bisping fair, I don't mean. "I hate Bisping, so he loses." -.-

"I hate Bisping, so he loses." -.- I personally think Bisping has a great shot at winning, and this is coming from someone who likes Mayhem a hell of a lot more. It'll probably be a solid, but slightly underwhelming decision win for Michael. Mayhem is a good fighter and a pretty funny personality, but Bisping is more tough than people give him credit for. He only seems to struggle against heavy handed guys, and Miller isn't known for his KO power. Couple that with a little ring-rust (though Bisping will have been shelved for awhile himself come fight time), and it's gonna be a tough fight for Mayhem. I'll still be rooting for a good showing by Miller either way.

Miller is better than some people give him credit for. Yes, he's NOT an elite middleweight, but neither is Bisping. Mayhem almost submitted the unsubmittable Jake Shields, so anything can happen.

If Bisping proves to be the better man on the night, considering Miller isn't viewed as an elite guy, I wouldn't know. I want to see him against some higher talent, he's at that point now where he needs to be put against some of the best, he's had some wins against some good guys, but he really needs to some wins against some better talent if he wants to cement him self as one of the best in the middleweight division. Because even as a Brit', I'm not afraid to admit he's to much talk for where he is.

Every time Bisping fights someone higher up, he gets beat. He won that bullsh*t decision against Matt Hamill, but Silva, Henderson and Evans have all beaten him. His greatest win is probably Akiyama.
