He's most likely holding out much like Rey Mysterio did so he can get what he wants in his contract. WWE wouldn't just let him go over the sake of something in his contract.

Well, I don't want him to leave. I think it's a stupid move if he does leave and I also think it's pretty low if this is just a ploy to get his own way. I don't think Punk is playing hardball. I don't think Punk is motivated by money at all. From reading his Twitter, I get the impression that the only things Punk needs are his family, his friends, his comic books and of course wrestling. He said in an interview that he wanted to earn enough to buy a nice house, which he now has. He doesn't strike me as someone concerned with material things. Agreed. And the whole "I'm gonna miss this", was not missing being in WWE, but being in Chicago.I remember on Art of Wrestling Punk mentioning wanting to do a movie role. If they did offer him one, I'd have no doubt he'd probably take it. At the time we presumed that, but that was before the news broke that he might be leaving. Also, he lives in Chicago, why would he miss it?[/quote] When he said, "I'm going to miss this" I assumed it was because right after that he went into a crazy good heel promo and the crowd turned on him and started booing 2 minutes later. Honestly, I wouldn't read into it at all.

Maybe he just wants to take some time off before signing. Think about it he hasn't had time off since he debuted ( that i can remember). Even when he was hurt he did commentary and had to travel. I don't really blame him for taking time off.

I'll be very happy if this is true. Maybe now Wade Barrett can reclaim his rightful place as leader of the Nexus and return it to it's former glory. I love Barrett as much as the next man, but this thread has nothing to do with Wade Barrett. If Vince still wanted Barrett to be the leader of the Nexus, he would be. Barrett was removed as leader because Punk can help Ryan, Otunga and Mcgillicutty more than Wade could.

Because CC said IF Punk leaves, then Nexus would be left without a leader. Same way this thread has a little to do with Mason Ryan and the tag titles.

I really hope Punk returns to ROH. No more of that silly Killswitch song, back to AFI.

He will stay end of story. That's the last thing I'm saying about it. He seems to have a lot more passion about the business than probably 90% of the roster. As a matter of fact he'd be the last guy i'd expect to leave, you can tell he loves what he does. He can get upset and isn't scared to voice his opinion when he isn't used right, but leaving? No. The only way he's ever leaving in the next few years is if WWE releases him themselves.

It doesn't matter... because IF Punk leaves Nexus is done and Barrett ain't going back to RAW any time soon. Mason will get a push and the other two will drop down into mid-card/low card obscurity.

I dont want Punk to leave but some good could come out of this.
-Otunga goes to smackdown and takes Jacksons spot in The Corre -Mason Ryan goes back to development -Ted DiBiase, Axel Mulligan (Husky Harris), Joe Hennig, and David Smith take the Nexus angle as a next gen/Legacy type spin off. That way nobody is left in the dirt.

I'm a big Punk fan, but if he wants a break, let the guy have a break. He can travel and do some stuff for ROH or in Japan or something. Lighter schedule and rest a bit. He'd come back just like Christian and Jericho did. Punk seems stuck in a bit of a rut, so I say give him a few months or a year off. He'll still be around. Just not on WWE TV.
I also like the idea of him being the lead in a WWE film. Give him time off to do that. And then he can come back to promote it.

If you want to talk about that go make a thread and title it "Wade Barrett's WWE future". Hell, CC was the only one to mention Barrett and he only did that because he doesn't like Punk and is still pissed off about Punk taking Barrett's place.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave for a while ala Jericho in 2005. The guy has been doing this for like a decade non-stop and has some real nagging injuries. Not to mention, its well publicized that he has pretty much no patience, so I'm sure he's sick of the lifestyle and everything it entails. The reality of the situation is that CM Punk's value to the company is on par with that of Jericho (circa 2005) he's a main guy but not bankable enough that losing him will ruin their entire product. I fully expec him to take a year or so off and the return as a face.

If WWE lets him walk away(as in not being with their company anymore) it goes to show how little they appreciate true talent and passion. Punk comes across as loving what he does and respects the history of the business more than 90% of the roster. Nevermind the fact that he i one of the best, if not the best promo guy in the WWE today and the fact that when he's allowed to he can put out one hell of a match. To let a guy like that go, horrible. Give him a few months off if he wants it, but keep him signed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. CM Punk has been a big name in wrestling for a number of years now, he did that without WWE and will continue without WWE.
He's one of those guys who, sad as it is for us, just doesn't need WWE.

I'm pretty sure he was referencing the "Summer of George" from Seinfeld, a time of extreme inactivity Such a classic episode. Seeing the next tweet about sitting on his couch that does sound about right. Ever since Punk's heel turn I've enjoyed his work a lot more. He makes a great heel. So hopefully he decides to re-sign

I think Punk is the type that could walk away from Wrestling.. so it's not a question of where he'll go if he doesn't sign but rather, will he sign because he still has a need to go (performing in the WWE ring)
Has CM Punk headlined a wrestlemania? I think that screams GOAL!!!!! if you're optimistic and see Punk as an instant main-eventer.
If he doesn't sign, WWE could still provide him a lush commentator role. WWE needs a fresh face because the commentary, currently, blows on both shows.
Punk is a wrestlers' wrestler. I hope he still sees himself as a draw not just the carrier of miscellaneous pushes.
