Yeah, Barbara back as Batgirl stinks to me. She was never great as Batgirl, and was a great character as Oracle. For me the next incarnation would to have been to have her a member of the JLA, in Martian Manhunters old role, keep the team in communication with each other, planning, that sort of thing. It really is a step back in diversity.
Is there any news on the Justice Society? Their book was one of my favorites the last several years.

Unless Superman is an old man, then the JSA as we knew it is gone. Considering the team was based on the concept of reaching back into the golden age and bridging it to the modern age (considering how dark and violent some of the GA stories could get they blend better then most would think), the JSA is dead. With Superman being the first hero in the DCnU that would mean there was no JSA or classic heroes. The characters could be reintroduced later but without the golden age heritage they would be shadows of their former selves. I hope the Marvel family doesn't get screwed up to badly in the DCnU.

If you were Barbara Gordon and you suddenly found out you could walk again would you WANT to go back to being Batgirl? 'Cuz I wouldn't.

I was looking on DC Comics' website about possibly subscribing to one of their new issues, namely Nightwing, but when I go to subscribe Nightwing isn't an option to subscribe to. It only lists some of the new issues, but not all. Anybody know why're doing this?

Their subscription services have always been awful. I had friends who subscribed directly, and their stuff always came late, or not at all. Honestly, you are better off subscribing through an online comic store, or making a pull list at a local comic store.

With the reboot coming I thought I might make the journey into comics, I always felt overwhelmed by the sheer size of some of the more popular ones and was never sure how to got about it.
I was wondering if anyone(who has loved comics for awhile) could give me a small list of some of the reboot ones that actually look like they might be worth reading to them. I'm unsure where to start or what I really would enjoy but definitely want a rough idea of what I will ask for when I go into the comic shop to request pull list.

I'll probably just wait until it's compiled into a graphic novel and then get it off of Amazon.

It sounds like it's more a re-numbering than anything. If you're overwhelmed by the current continuity (and I can relate for sure), that's probably not going to change or at least it doesn't sound like it is.

Action Comics should be great for a new reader, and will probably be the best of the whole relaunch, given the writer.

Thanks for posting that. In some ways it is encouraging, and in other ways, it is really depressing.

In many ways I found it extremely confusing. Batman is not rebooted, but Superman is. So Batman knows Superman's secret identity and has this long history with him. Superman has never met Batman before. Or has he only met him 5 years earlier when they formed the JLA? WTF???

Yeah, there seem to be many issues of continuity that need to be ironed out which is what caused us to have so many Crisis type events in the past 30 years. DC needs to figure out which group of fans they want to sell the line to because so far they have given no clear cut idea of what this re-boot/re-launch/re-crisis is going to accomplish. EDIT: A link to an article that has DC's answers to sellers and retailers: www.newsarama.com/comics/dcnu-the-new-52-retailer-info-110701.html

The reboot seems more confusing than just trying to dive into the huge ordeal or issues as it stands.....sadly it is causing me to have doubts about getting any real footing with comics.

What I got from the article is this:
1st: DC is trying to do damage control by assuring the shops that they are still the primary retailers. We know this could become bull-crap if the digital editions are as popular as the fans say the will be. I know a local shop around here has lost 1/3 of its paper orders for DC books for Sep. and the owner told me is is expecting to have sales drop by 50% due to the negative response form his old costumers and that there are so few new costumers coming in. That leads to the second lesson.
2nd: DC tried to use the re-numbering and term "re-boot" to create excitement to bring in old fans and create new ones. That to has turned to bull-crap as so much of the press about the line says they are making changes however much of the old continuity remains in place so it seems like the last 30 years of DC history is being collapsed into a 5 year span that happened before the books get renumberd.....which means you still have to have read all the older books to understand what has happened to the characters to make their returns (Batgirl) exciting or how the retcon (Superman) have made the character cool again.
The more time that passes by, the more this just seems like a big grab at extra media attention and was not as well planned out as it needed to be. Archie comics doing it with the Sonic comics was easy, one main book gets re-booted (while not starting a new volume). To change a whole universe around and make it worth while takes a year of planning followed by 6 months of build up and hype.

from all the interviews and whats been talked about, i'm starting to doubt Barbara's return to Batgirl is what everyone is thinking it is. because if Batman isnt being rebooted and she was still Oracle then this might go back to her scene in Batman: The Return. i'm thinking they're looking to do something like Tron with her. she's still Oracle, but she can enter that Internet 3.0 that Batman mentioned. the cover image of the new costume looks real similiar to the costume on that blueprint. and if you think about it, its really the only way that her no longer being handicapped works, especially if Batman's world is remaining mostly unchanged. she's still handicapped but now she mostly lives inside a computer program.

^You know honestly that makes a lot of sense, and I wouldn't mind seeing that. Good work putting those pieces together.

The idea of Barbra being in the net fighting cyber crime or wearing a cyber suit that allows her to walk again is making it's way around the net. Simone posts on the CBR forum and tried to deal with some of the fans questions and fears. She couldn't be to forward with info. The thread pretty much became a place for people to discuss how much they don't like any part of the book.
Further trouble for most of the new DCnU books is that the stories are supposed to go six issues each and if a book is struggling after that time DC has decided they are going to be quick to cancel a book. They want strong sells across the brand and any concept that doesn't start off strong will be replaced.
EDIT: Also forgot to mention the cover for Batgirl #2 is out. It has Babs hiding behind a tombstone with a shadowy gunman/gunwoman standing over her. The costume she has on looks nothing like the one from the first issue. Either Hughes is just drawing the costume based on classic Batgirl or there is going to be a modification as the series progresses.
