Lots of times I watch matches where people say "It was phenomenal" and I agree. Other times I watch a match where people call it the "Best match ever" when I think it was good but not THAT great. So what are some overrated matches that you ever watched in WWE? (It can be underrated matches) For me, I think the HHH/Undertaker Match at WM 27 was overrated. Sure it was good, but it dragged on for the final moments and I keep hearing people (Not on WF) say how it's one of the best matches ever. Please reply Thanks!

Underrated:
Hogan vs Savage - WM V : yes,it was a Mania Main Event, but it kinda got lost in the shuffle a bit i think between Hogan's more-hyped matches against Andre and the Ultimate Hellwig.... a great one-on-one match....
Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels Ladder Match : not sure which tape it was on afterall these years, but these 2 waged quite the little masterpiece of a ladder match in the summer of 1992 over the IC Title...
Bret Hart vs British Bulldog - IYH December 1995 : a bloody, brutal match for Hart's World Title ,and the first official rematch between the 2 after the SummerSlam 1992 masterpiece...
The Rock vs HHH vs Kurt Angle - SummerSlam 2000 : never really talked about, but had a TON of drama going into it with Angle after Stephanie, pissing HHH off,and The Rock trying to survive both of these combustible elements with his WWF Championship intact...despite Angle being legitimately injured a few minutes in, Rock and Trips put on a great match til the dramatic ending...
Overrated:
Savage vs Flair - WM VIII : a GOOD match, but not one i consider great...

Under-rated Chris Jericho .vs. Daniel Byran at NXT Thats the only one I can think of
OVER-RATED Y2J .vs. HBK I honestly thought the match was boring and had slow build up to the end.

Coliseum Video Smack'em Whack'em (WF114) it's also on the Ladder Match DVD too I believe. I'll have to think about my most underrated/overrated...good question.

Definitely agree with Bret and Shawns ladder match being underrated. I have that tape! Awesome match. I also think a lot of Cena and Ortons matches throughout summer/autumn 2009 are underrated purely because a lot of people don't like the two wrestlers involved. Personally I really enjoyed them. As for overrated, I think Steamboat vs Savage is. Like I said in the 'Last classic match you watched' thread, It's very good, especially for its era, but I've heard people call it the best ever, which I definitely disagree with.

yeah,i'd agree with Hogan vs Andre being overrated....it was, quite honestly, a boring match.... but is well regarded and well-known because of what it did (drawing 93,000) and Hogan slamming an pinning the Giant...
i find it kind of funny,to get off-track here a bit....this is why Hogan pisses me off a bit....reading his book, when he talks about this match, specifically the bodyslam,he talks about how "special" it was,and it was a one-time thing and would never happen again,etc...
um,let's see..... Hogan slammed Andre again at WM IV,after their match was over...and Hogan slammed Andre AGAIN in a steel cage match the 2 had shortly after WM IV....PLUS i've seen video on "he Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior" where the WARRIOR slams Andre in an IC Title defense...
so,yeah,it WAS a special moment at the time, but Hogan romanticized it WAY too much as this once in a lifetime event, when it clearly wasn't...

Overrated: Bret/HBK Ironman Match - Thought the first ten minutes and the last 15-20 were great, the rest was just filling all the time, if this had been cut down to around 35 minutes, I think it would have been much better, added would be the intensity of not having the countdown timer, so you wouldn't subconsiously think hey only x amount of time left. Would have been much more edge of the seat. Though it would have ruined the finish. Just didnt think it needed to be an hour.
Underrated: HBK/HHH HIAC - Only underrated to me because it's one of the less talked about matches, but it was PERFECT feud ender. It was 45 minutes of perfection, they used every minute to make something work, you believed how slow and worn down they were at the end, and this is easily the best cell match to never leave the cage, and one of the few where it was better they didn't. After seeing these two have the blood feud for 2 years almost, ending it in the cell was fantastic, and this remains my favorite HIAC match ever done

I still find Undertaker vs Stone Cold at Summerslam 1998 to be a very underrated match. It spilled all over MSG, and was more or less a complete knock down, drag out fight. And it ended in a way that didn't really make either Undertaker or Stone Cold look bad. Also featured a leg drop from the top rope that is still one of the coolest ing things ever.

Summerslam 95s Ladder match was just as good if not better than WMX.

Agreed. I also think that the HBK/Razor Ramon ladder match from Summerslam is underrated. it sure is.it isnt mentioned enough for me at all. Summerslam 95s Ladder match was just as good if not better than WMX. it was more interesting because they had to be more creative since the ladder couldn't be used as a weapon.... the first match, they had the "ooohh!" factor of most people never seeing a ladder match before, and the use of the ladder for moves and as a weapon was enough... the second match, they had to find a way to use the ladder as a prop in telling a story, rather than the ladder BEING the story.... also agree about the Taker-Austin match....that was a great match, and totally ruined me as i've been a Taker mark since 1991,and loved Austin like everyone did in 1998....how could i root for anyone?! though i DO remember rooting for Taker just a little bit more...

Overrated:
- HBK vs Undertaker WM25: Good match which was easily the best match on the card, but great match, no way. Anything HBK did during his last few years his fanboys call great.
Underrated:
- Kurt Angle vs Undertaker No Way Out 2006: A forgotten match by many but is one of my favorite matches of all time. These two put on an amazing match that few other match up to. Easily surpases the HBK/Taker WM25 match.
- Lesnar vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell: A brutal, bloody brawl where Taker made Lesnar look like gold and Lesnar truely became the "Next big Thing." Best HIAC match ever IMO.

Not these **** cell matches these days where it's basically just a prop used to get more ticket sales and ppv buys.

The HIAC matches today are jokes, especially the newer design. I hate how tall the new cell is because it doesn't look like these guys are truely confined anymore. W/ the old cell and it's shorter height, it truely looked like these guys were stuck in the cell together. The match is also suppose to be about totally destroying your opponent, which Lesnar and Taker did. Today, they don't even leave the ring. It's sad what the PG era has done to the HIAC matches.
