I'm sick of walking into the stores and seeing empty tags where the figures should be.

Think of it this way, the store has 10 figures but all of them are of John Cena and no other figures. I don't have that problem. Because they are pretty much all gone within a day or two of them being put out. Target is the worst almost everytime I walk into their aisle all I see are empty pegs with grey dots on the tags. The grey dots mean they are on order. Maybe once a month I'll walk into the aisle and they have actually received the figures. But when I go back 2 days later the pegs are empty and the dots are back on the pegs. WalMart also never has any figures when I go. But that's because they are a 24/7 store and they usually get hit around 2PM by the local scalper shop when they are pulling their pallets onto the floor. Normally if they have something the line has been cherry picked, but luckily there aren't many modern guys I will buy so they are normally still there. (I was totally shocked that I found almost 2 fresh cases of Elite 8 on the pegs yesterday) TRU is usually my best bet, but that's because the employee will tell me when they are getting cases in and will hold the ones I want when they do come it.

When there aren't any figures on the pegs, that's a good thing. Figures are selling. It' all about timing. Ask the employees which days they unload the truck and stock shelves.

It doesn't matter at Target because when they are out (My 3 area stores) it takes at least 3 weeks to a month for them to get another shipment from the warehouse. At one point 2 of the stores didn't have a single Basic figure on the pegs for 2 months. And they said it was nation wide that they couldn't supply the aisle with any of the Mattel products (WWE & DC brands). That's why I said above I get most of my figures from TRU, because they are the only store that can tell me what day they are receiving new shipments and will hold them for me. At Target and WalMart they say the order is in and can take up to 3 weeks for the warehouse to fill. Walmart usually gives me a week 3 weeks away and say it could be in any of the shipments coming the week they gave. But I am used to it after 30 years of collecting toys

I don't think you can say that's the case. The retail stores make a bulk order for all their stores. Once Mattel ships it to the states Then that's on the stores warehouses to distribute it to all the stores. And before it is in the stores the retailers ship it to all the districts distribution centers/warehouses across the country. Which takes time seeing they ship in across country by rail. So the distribution issues are more of each retail chains than it is from Mattel. Mattel doesn't ship directly to each individual TRU/ Target/WalMart stores. So it sounds to me more like the companies either underordered their bulk order from Mattel and are having trouble spreading it to all their stores across the country. Or they just have trouble getting the product from their warehouse to the stores on a timely manner.

PJ it is more than refreshing to see someone who understands how things get shipped... thank you for a post that made me smile... and is it wierd that it made me happy to read that??

Oh, I know how distribution works, but do you think Walmart has been sitting on Elite 8 for the past 3 months? Does it take 3 months to send figures thru WalMarts distribution? In that same question, why does TRU or Target not have Elite 8? Now, this is getting off the original topic, but knowing Mattels history with other action figure properties, I had a feeling we would be sitting here waiting and waiting for retailers to get the figures we want.

Yes I know there's always been issues with Mattel 's product getting on the pegs since day one with all boy brands (other than Hot wheels) But yes I do think it could take that long especially if they need to clear out old stock. Hell it takes WalMart 2-3 weeks for product to hit the pegs after they order it from the warehouse. Many times I've seen my stores dept manager order something from the warehouse on their scanner only to tell me that it won't be shipped to them until 2 or 3 weeks later. And as for TRU/Target they probably still have older stock at their distribution centers or haven't ordered it yet. Plus Target & WalMart have that polocy where the store doesn't order new probuct until their product is down to a certain number in stock. And with all the Elite 5 warming the pegs at least around here it'll probably be the holiday season before the warehouses just ship them product on their own.

Well, after the Basic Undertaker, Sheamus & Yoshi Tatsu disappeared there's still 1 of John Cena from the BOFB 2010 is still hanging around for several weeks with a BOFB 2010 Batista over at My local Walgreens. They won't put any new Basics that I need until they're bought.
John Cena is one of the main ones and Mattel is just milking him as well as Orton, I'm use to this sort of thing with Jakks doing it with SCST, the Rock, HHH years ago, I'm not surprised but with anyone whom is tired of Cena when there could be new faces and/or other variants that you'd really want and yes I do get tired of the same guys sometimes.
I agree with that because if there's 5 or 10 Cena figures on the pegs that doesn't allow much else.
In My opinion, the only Cena I think that needs to be made is a version of him from The Marine and one from 12 Rounds, not sure if Mattel could do that but I'd buy those if they'd come to be as it would add a new look and feel and possibly even a new image of John Cena in a collector's collection!

I'm sick of John Cena in general. Any guy who gets obliterated by a bottle of water (RAW last night if you didn't see) deserves to warm pegs....wish he would go away in general, but that's not happening any time soon. And I AM a Cena hater. lol.
