The general consensus, not only on this board, but from a lot of people I know and a lot of fans is that the Ultimate Fighter has become very stale the last couple years, not just from the fighters themselves seemingly not being as intense, but with how formulaic it has gotten. My question is, does anyone have any ideas on how to make the show interesting again? I have a couple which I posted in the thread announcing the new coaches, but I figured this could be an interesting topic by itself, I'm curious to see what ideas people had.
I think I'd like to see them go back to the first couple years, where each episode has the fighters challenge, with the winning team picking the fight, instead of just whoever won the last fight. I think that stops the shows from feeling as repetitive. I'd rather watch the fighters compete in different challenges every episode than just seeing the workout and training session every time, which gets very boring after a few episodes. I think this would be a big improvement to go back to. and depending on what they do for challenges, they could also bring in other UFC fighters throughout the season, have different fighters develop the challenges themselves, and come in while they are being done.
Also, it might be interesting to up the bonus a fighter gets on the show for finishing an opponent, if they could feasibly do it. I'm not sure what it is now, but make it so peple REALLY want to finish fights instead of coasting to victory.
I would love to see the fights made three rounds again period, none of this 2 rounds if it's a draw, sudden victory stuff. How many times before have we seen a fighter get totally dominated but pull out a win in the end? Give them all three rounds in my opinion, they want to be UFC fighters? They can fight three round fights. It seems like several times over the last few seasons that it could have easily gone to a third round, and it was still ended and put to decision. I think this would be overall better.
Thoughts? Agree, disagree? Any other ideas?
