300: Rise Of An Empire. Was just okay; didn't want to compare it to 300 but this was very much 'meh' to me... This is another example of Hollywood taking a giant dump.. It shouldn't have taken 10 years to get a sequel.

It shouldn't have taken 10 years to get a sequel. Regardless of the time taken (which, incidentally was under ten years, same as Sin City's sequel) if it's not any good; why put it out there? Answer - just to make money. Where Zack Snyder created something great with Frank Miller's help, this one was just...not good; made purely to make a buck IMO.

Sex Tape. It was a little raunchy for the first 5-10 minute. But it did have some funny parts as the movie went on. Glad I On Demanded it because it was worth $4.95 but I would have been pissed if so had spent $17+ for a blu ray.

Halloween 35th Anniversary screening at a movie theater near me.
Even though it was the same as the bluray that came out last year and everything it was still cool to see it on the big screen. Plus tickets weren't bad either: $5.50 per person.

Plus since it was in 7.1 surround, I could hear some dialogue that I could never hear before since in 5.1 it was either drowned out in music or too low to hear it.

I think I was 12 when Halloween was released. Although I don't think I watched it until a few years later on HBO or VHS.

Enemy - 7/10 - I'd recommend it if you like films that keep you on your toes. This one doesn't answer many of the questions it asks, and it's 100% not a thriller but rather an art house piece. I didn't like it on first viewing, but then I realized how much it stuck with me and I got to reading some interpretations and I did a 180 and really appreciate it now. Ending is wack.
Blue Ruin - 8.5/10 - One of the best films I've caught this year. It's a pretty straight forward revenge thriller with a few twists and turns, but it's incredibly well shot, the lead actor is subtle and fantastic, the action is rare but has some of the most realistic gore effects I've seen on screen.
Mud - 8.5/10 - Really enjoyed it way more than I expected. In face, in a lot of ways it reminded me of Blue Ruin. Both set in rural America with flawed leads vs outlaw crime families. Script was good and the narrative was well paced, but I really liked this one for the acting. The kids and MM really kept you invested with how compelling they played their roles.
Escape Plan - 4/10 - Not shit, but tried to be smarter than it had any right to be. It had some nice ideas and all but the multiple plot twists felt stupid and unnecessary. Had some nice action and a few so bad they're good lines, but they could have done a lot better for Arnie and Stallone.
I also rewatched Prometheus for the first time since the cinema and oh jesus what a pile of shit. Script was atrocious, characters one dimensional and the narrative was all over the place. The abortion scene was great, but otherwise I can't remember a bigger let down.

Sigh ** The Innocents (scary movie from the 60's but made to look like the 20's or 30's)....man oh man, it actually was pretty darn scary - I liked it quite a bit: think 'The Skeleton Key' meets 'The Haunting' meets 'The Others' & there ya go

I am Legend
3 out of 5
I love Zombie movies so it's hard for a zombie movie to disappoint me. After watching all the betrayal in walking dead though as I watched I am Legend I thought it was interesting to see Will Smith's character calling people/inviting them to stay with him. My main complaint is that I would have liked to have seen actual people play the Zombies and not just all cgi. A big plus though is that in this movie they actually take into consideration plant growth. Will Smith walks down New York Streets and they already have 4 foot tall grass. Unlike the walking dead which has perfectly mowed lawns and prairies.
Addams Family
4 of 5
I love the Addams. My only complaint with this movie is that I wasnt a fan of how they wrote the Fester character. I already knew who the characters were so I would have liked a movie that started off with the entire Addams Family and not the whole "impostor" story line.
Addams Family Values
4.5 out of 5
This movie just improved on the first one. I think it is an excellent childrens movie and also very entertaining for adults. My only complaint is the rap music. Rap has no place in the Addams family universe. That's a big pet peeve of mine in movies, when they go for the flavor of the month music instead of a good score.
Cabin in the woods
4 out of 5
I think this is a solid movie that introduces a whole new concept for horror movies. I loved it. I loved the idea behind what is going on in this cabin. I feel it could open the door to many sequels. I disliked the end though. I really would have wanted a different ending. I've seen enough horror movies though to know that a sequel can change the ending of the previous film in just 5 mins. Also the Merman? It just left me thinking, wouldnt the Merman have to kill while the people are in the water? I mean they showed him attack someone who was immobile so that person couldnt get away. But a person who can walk/run would never be caught by the slow Merman on land, just a thought.

The Depraved (2011) - pretty decent horror flick
V/H/S 3 - always love these movies but I think the 2nd is my favorite but it was still good.
See No Evil - I like the movie, but the 2nd one is garbage

Live. Die. Repeat (Also known as Edge of Tomorrow) - Absolutely loved it. One of my top picks for this year.
I missed out seeing this in cinema because my buddies wanted to see Days of Future Past (which I thought sucked for the most part) and wow, really regret not being able to see it on the big screen. Cruise for all his off screen shenanigans usually puts in a great performance, but man he absolutely killed it here. His goofy comic timing is on point. Script is excellent, running time is perfect, the concept feels fresh even if it's largely borrowed from other materials... for me this is how you do a popcorn flick. It was fun, but it didn't treat the audience like idiots. 100% recommend it, reminded me a lot of GOTG in it's perfect balance of action and humour.

The Reanimator
4 out of 5
I had seen this movie in the past but only in bits and pieces. I just saw the whole thing though and wow. I was impressed. It has a high level of gore and some very original scenes. Still though I loved it. What I liked most is that everything in the movie made sense. It's a zombie movie in which the zombies come back to life due to an experimental drug. I strongly recomend it.
