Cena and Orton got injured
Here me out lol Now that pretty much ALL the big names have gone, at least for the time being, Orton and Cena are the only 2 really big names that WWE have left at the moment what with Punk going)
So let's say Cena and Orton got injured (touch wood) how would you build up some big names FAST. How would you build up a handful of people to carry the company for a while and who would you choose and why
Try and limit it to 4 guys (2 per show)

Truth/Miz/Riley (who needs some work) for Raw
Sheamus/Christian/Mark Henry for Smackdown
They could all carry the show for a couple of months.

You wouldn't need to build anyone up.
Kane/Sheamus/Christian/Henry over on SD and if they needed another face then they could just throw Zeke in.
Rey/Del Rio/Show/Miz/Truth/Riley over on Raw.

You wouldn't need to build anyone up. Kane/Sheamus/Christian/Henry over on SD and if they needed another face then they could just throw Zeke in. Rey/Del Rio/Show/Miz/Truth/Riley over on Raw. Pretty much this. Don't forget MITB is soon, so someone like Wade Barrett will be reliable (again) soon. Maybe even Cody Rhodes or Daniel Bryan.... |

If Cena got injured, I'd put together an 8-man WWE Title tournament for the now vacant belt, with Del Rio, Mysterio, Miz, Riley, Truth, Big Show, Morrison and Swagger.
If Orton got injured, Smackdown battle royal for vacant World title, Christian wins and begins heel reign of terror, with a Sheamus face turn (or more of a tweener) leading to a rivalry between them for a bit. Chrisitan could also face Kane and maybe heel Mark Henry (hey, heel vs. heel why not?) for a short while.

HHH returns , they beg CM Punk to stay , beg Jericho to return and even get Mick Foley to do a short run until one of the 2 return.
Use HHH , Jericho and Foley to put over guys in case this happens again. Have Punk go to Smack Down and be the champ for awhile

If both of them went down at the same time, Triple H would undoubtedly return full time until they were good to go again.
Other than that, guys like Christian, The Miz, and Mysterio would need to be in top level positions. I would think a guy like John Morrison would get a shot. Sheamus would be up there.
That's it, really. It's not going to be Jericho, at least not anytime soon.

Triple H would get title run 14 on Raw
Undertaker would win the title and wrestle Sheamus on Smackdown.

Triple H, Morrison, Mysterio, Del Rio, and The Miz can take care of RAW. Smackdown would be in trouble unless someone switched shows.

Kane would turn heel and we'd get our 32nd Kane-Taker feud for Smackdown and Miz would bury Riley all over Raw for the WWE Title.

now the obvious answer to your question would be why hello Triple H, hello Undertaker, but if that were not an option they have the talent to carry the shows if used correctly. Raw could be ok with Miz on top with Kofi Kingston, Mysterio & Morrison (when he returns) feuding with him and then you have Del Rio as well. Smackdown would be the harder one and there you have the talent just needs to be used right. Christian would get the belt and you have Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara, & possibly a Sheamus turn so they would be alright for a while until one of the two came back, cause you know whichever one returned first would be put on the RAW brand

I admire your humour, sir. Umm, I think it wouldn't be TOO big a loss. WWE have put themselves in this sort of predictament by not building up other stars. Over on RAW, it's kind of like Cena's opponent a, opponent b, opponent c. His opposition don't seem to matter as much as himself and I feel the only heel on RAW who genuinely got over to the point that they were almost at Cena's level would be The Miz. Smackdown would be okay. Sheamus has been built as a dominant heel before and could easily take the strap and carry the company. Hell, he did it on RAW last summer and it was awesome. The decision to make Christian a heel though was very poor. The main event scene on Smackdown is now 1 face and 3 heels. So yeah, bad move for WWE in a creative sense down the line. |

They would survive, depending on how major the injury was.
If both were out 3-6 months...meh, not a big deal.
If both were out a year +? time for panic mode in the WWE's eyes
As far as RAW...I'd have Miz as the top heel get the WWE title back and feud with Riley/Rey/Big Show
With Truth & Del Rio in the backround as heels also.
As far as Smackdown... Christian would get the strap, turn Sheamus face and feud with him.
Kane & Zeke as the other top faces, Barrett/Mark Henry as the top heels
That would cover 6 months nicely.
There would always be a possibility of a "sleeper" face or heel to get thrown into the main event mix (Kofi, Masters, DB, Cody)

I'm glad you brought this up. This can very well happen and at any time. Even with one of them injured (which they both have long histories of taking time off) it can force huge changes with WWE. I would hope to think Morrison can finally step up to main event status. He's there, they just need to use him. Kane, Barrett, Sheamus, Miz, even Kofi Kingston can make the leap. I would actually like WWE to position this, but don't wish harm on anyone to do it of course.
